Comfortable, Feature Rich Smart Watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must say I was skeptical because I am not much of a smartwatch person. I actually used to wear nice watches all the time but in the last few years had just stopped because I always had my phone with me. I was always looking at the other brands and got close a couple times but never went forward. I finally did that with the Fossil Gen 5. First, I was impressed with the size. It is very thin and fits my normal to smaller wrist even better than some of my older non-smartwatches I used to wear. The fact that it is thin, and light made this really easy to get back into the habit of wearing a watch. This watch runs on Google’s Wear-OS. You download the app, sync with the phone with the watch and setup was quick and easy. I was a bit disappointed in the Wear-OS options on the app. You can change the face setting, manage notifications, change tiles (you can have 5 on your rotation), I use Weather Forecast, Headlines, Heart Rate, Heart Points and Agenda. I really like being able to control my Pandora and Spotify from the watch. I can still not get Spotify to download music to the watch. I was however able to open Play Music and see playlists that I had previously setup. I was then able to download them to the watch and since I had paird my headset, I was able to take a walk and enjoy music from the watch without my phone. That was Great! If I could do that with Spotify, it would be amazing! I also setup the watch with my Galaxy S10+ and was able to answer, speak and be heard from watch but I only was able to get an echo from those that called me, and I could not hear them on the watch. I have seen posts that Fossil is preparing a fix for this. One of the cool things I like is my blink camera notifications show up on the watch and even have an image capture from it so I can see if I really need to go to the phone and see the clip or realize it was just a squirrel! I love the Cardiogram function and have it tracking my heartrate every 5 min. It is very accurate and comparable to my higher end home blood pressure tracking machine. It seems to accurately measure my move minutes. I wish it would automatically track my step vs. me having to go into fit and select start workout and select walking. They really should add step tracking to occur automatically. My hope is that Wear-OS will continue to improve because I really like the feel of this watch and getting the notifications, alarm, fitness tracking, news. Fossil has done a great job on the watch but I really want the music on my watch from my Spotify. I hope that I will not be limited to Play Music only. I did not actually use Google pay yet but was able to quickly setup my newer card. Battery Life is average. I like all the features so I am getting 20hrs or so. What I do is after I get settled at work in the AM, I take it off and charge it for less than an hour while I am working. Charges quickly so has not been an issue. I bought extra cables on Amazon for less than $12 bucks so I threw one in the car, perfect! Overall, this thing is really nice. Comfort and features are key for me. Comfort has me at a 5 while features are still lagging at a 4 but I am hopeful. I would still highly recommend this watch, it’s beautiful, comfortable and full of features and opportunity!

One of the nicest looking smartwatches
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my opinion, you'd be hard-pressed to find a nicer looking watch than this. It has a very classic style and is not near as bulky as many other smartwatches. It packs many competitive features as well, with few compromises. I'll get the biggest issue out of the way first. If you're using all the features, the battery is going to need to be charged daily. If you're fine with that, then this watch will likely easily suit you. The bright side of that, is that the watch charges very quickly. They boast 80% in an hour, but I think it may be even faster than that. It also has some great options to extend battery life. For instance, you can have it shut off connections from 11 pm to 6 am to conserve battery life, and that will help it easily last two full days. You can also enter these battery saving modes very quickly from the pull down menu on the watch. It's quick to navigate between screens and applications, call quality is very good, notification management in this latest version of Wear OS is quick and easy to use. Notifications show on the watch instantaneously, which were sometimes slightly delays on other watched I've used. The knob dials on the side of the watch are very smooth, and I haven't accidentally used them unintentionally like I initially feared. The clasp is also great, I have a medium-sized wrist and had a local jeweler remove 3 links to fit me. It's not overly snug or uncomfortable, and it actually feels lighter than any of the other smartwatches I've owned. Even with the metal band, which looks very nice in my opinion. The fitness tracking actually seems to be a bit more accurate than other watched I've had as well. Including a near-continous heart rate monitor. I have mine currently set to take a reading every five minutes. I haven't seen a way to track floors though, and perhaps it's unable to do so. It also doesn't track sleep natively that I could see, but there are some third part apps that fill this need, if that's something you're looking for. The one I used (Sleep as Android) also integrated with Google Fit. Overall, I'm very happy. This is a smartwatch that gives you all the features you'd expect, and looks very classy doing so. Pros: Elegant, lighter than expected, quick, charges very fast Cons: Battery life (though this can be tweaked to last longer), some fitness features may not be available out of the box, or at all

Fossil - The New Generation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you open the Fossil box It is instantly obvious that the Fossil Gen 5 is a high-quality watch with a gorgeous wristband and clear detail to attention in the watch casing and face, stunning. This is a watch you will feel quite comfortable wearing into a boardroom or at play. Fossil has years of experience in fashion and it is displayed brilliantly in the Gen 5. First impression wearing the Gen 5 was that it weighs slightly more than any watch I have owned previously, though after wearing a short time it is no longer perceptible. Setup could not have been easier, has a pre-loaded on-screen tutorial to get you going. After a few days was concerned about the battery life lasting 24 hours and was charging nightly. Then my kid walks by and suggests I turn the always on (the default setting) screen off. Duh. Amazing how the battery life of the Gen 5 increased. Has a great NFC charger, just pop under the bottom of the watch case, simple. With the always on display turned off you need only simply turn your wrist over to look at the watch face to display the screen. Big factor for me is fitness, cardio, step count, etc. Still getting familiar with the fitness system which looks to have great potential. Would like to have the option of large on-screen Heartbeat and Steps displayed. The Cardiogram apps for the Gen 5 and phone are well thought out and executed, though feels as it needs improving. Real time syncing of steps and heartbeat on the watch and phone app would be a great addition. Fitness Apps on Watch: - Cardiogram - Fit - Fit Breath - Fit Workout OK Google Search is especially convenient, “OK Google weather” and so on is quite handy on the run. One caveat is that voice command only works once, if you want to use OK Google a second time you must tap the microphone icon. That I do not get if the function it to make searching convenient. If I am driving and want the weather and then then directions, I would have to take my hands from the wheel to do the second search. The Right Stuff: - 8GB storage 1GB memory - Phone calls - Google Assistant - Blue Tooth 4.2 Low Energy - Wi-Fi - Google Fit - Android and iPhone compatible - Wear OS operating system - Calendar, email, contacts and social media connectivity - Play Store – lots of apps - Spotify Music App pre-loaded - Bright vibrant display - Battery saving modes - Built in GPS - Powered by Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor = Fast! A Brilliantly conceived smartwatch that is Engineered, Designed, Built and Equipped to go the distance.

Sleek looks, great value in a smartwatch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Fossil Carlyle HR Smoke Stainless Steel watch is an attractive option for IOS or Android based phone users. I really like the look of the watch and find it to be quite stylish. Rather than taking the stainless steel watchband to a jeweler to be sized I opted to order additional Fossil watchbands. Fossil has some great color and material options to change up the look of their Gen 5 watch. I opted for a black band and a gray band and prefer the leather material for lightweight comfort and ease of adjustment. Along with being stylish, the watch screen is also very responsive. There are a large variety of watch faces to choose from, including seasonal ones. The variety of tiles is plentiful and includes fitness, reminders, calendar, weather, social app notifications, etc... I've found Google Assistant to work quite well. Overall, the watch operating system works very well. Initially, I did experience some connection issues, but after resetting the watch the problem was eliminated and has not been an issue since. Battery life thus far has been quite good and I typically get two days of use. Recharging is quite simple with the included USB magnetic charger. One awesome feature of this watch is that it has a water-resistant design that is good up to 98' of water. The watch is also good for tracking other fitness activities, sleep activity and heart rate. If you're looking for a stylish, quality smartwatch with a lot of features then the Fossil Gen 5 is a great option. For those looking for the stainless steel watchband model it would have been great had Fossil included a tool for resizing.

Excellent Watch Decent battery Great design and st
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to say first, that this Smartwatch does not have a large battery, but you can spend a day of 10-12 hours. The best: It has a super fast charge. It charges you 100% in one hour. It has a large screen, everything goes smoothly because it has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. The silicone band is 22cm, a bit long for some; but you can find one more small in the Fossil store or on Amazon. It is a super delicate band in contact with the skin and the Smartwatch is very light. I love your design. Your updates make the Google assistant work very well. Of course, be prepared because between setting up the Smartwatch and downloading updates, it can take a whole night; which means no less than 10 HOURS !!! Yes, it is not a lie, that took my watch to update and configure. I returned the first one, because when I finished downloading the update (4 hours), it showed me "The update cannot be installed"; then bingo! Another 4 hours of download. The same happened to me with the second one. That's why I decided to return it. I put the missing money and bought a Galaxy Watch 46mm Bluetooth. Not a bad smartwatch; but believe me that after you had the Fossil 5 Generation on your wrist; He will miss him very much. it's OS Wear (Android) and Samsung phones run Android; So your Smartwatches run Tizen OS. I don't know what Samsung's future will be with Tizen on their phones; but I am sure of one thing: Between OS Wear and Tizen, I keep OS Wear; although, it has flaws like Tizen; At least it is developed by Android. Syncing with your Android device is great. Tizen has no licensed Google app (Except for exceptions with Spotify, Strava and Uber, which are not from Google). But honestly, who will request an Uber service with their watch, if the phone allows you to do better? Tizen uses Here We Go instead of google maps. It is not bad; but in my case I had problems with navigation. The app breaks every time or freezes and I had to restart my phone, so I decided to uninstall this app. For now, Tizen is not doing well with me. You have to use all the original Samsung apps: Phone, contacts, Samsung Pay and even Samsung Internet. Yes, you read it right: Samsung internet instead of Google Chrome! Honestly, I put on this Galaxy Watch to set up Samsung Health and my heart rate and I left it in its box. I just want to see what happens with your battery; but I miss my Fossil 5 Generation. In every way!

Good value for money
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a smartwatch, it is a good looking confortable, sturdy watch. I haven't tried swiming with it, but showering isn't a problem. Battery life could be better bearly making it a full day with a workout. There are several battery ansaving modes. Display is nice and bright. Much less expensive than similary equipted watches

iPhone Users - Go for it now. OTA update pushed
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is just for iPhone users. I use iPhone 7 and had an assumption that everything will work as expected but that isn’t the case. May be I did not do proper research before I bought this watch. However to ease out for iPhone users, I am letting my observation out. So people can know what they are going to get when they buy. Features as of now: 1. Only notifies you that you got a message along with the sender’s name for apps such as Whatsapp, sms etc but you cannot reply or read the message from the watch. 2. You will get notified on who is calling with the name and the number, you can either choose to attend or reject, however you cannot speak using the watch. Note: Just browsed the internet and came to know that the OTA update would hit us before the year end. This will enable us to make calls and attend the calls and speak using the watch. Until then we need to wait. For android they have all liberty to use and no restrictions. Now coming to the look of the watch and performance. 1. Watch looks stylish and cool. 2. Navigation is smooth and easy. 3. Notifications hit the phone without any lag. Rest I will update once I start using. This is my first day. I will rate 5 stars once the proper update is pushed. **************************************************** So as I mentioned before OTA update got pushed two weeks back. Now I am able to take calls and make calls using my watch. Speaker is audible and mic is also good while I used my watch. However, you need use Google fit app for fitness tracking as Apple Health app will not work well with this watch.

Ok?
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start mentioning that the watch is beautifully finished, and a great size for most people. Now Google Wear OS works OK, kind of slow sometimes, but I love it specially if paired with a Android cellphone. Where it kills itself is with Battery Life, you will be lucky if it lasts 24 Hours...Even if you going into settings and shut off quite a few Apps from notifications. That being said, that's why I gave it 3 Stars, and by the way returned it too. Hopefully all these manufacturers can either use bigger batteries, and also Google Wear OS should be more efficient.

Excellent smart watch, with a great battery
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite the numerous complaints of the battery life on this watch I've found it be the best I've used to date. I can get up go to sleep with the watch on at 100% and wake up after 6 hours with 90%-95% battery life to start the day. A full charge will get me 36 hours of under moderate use and 48 hours under light use. The watch looks great on and off the wrist. It does not look bulky or like today's generation of the calculator watch. I use it as a smartwatch, not a fitness watch, so I do not have an opinion on the fitness features. The smartwatch features that I use work great, especially Google Assistant, and speak to text. Things to note... (1) The battery life sucked for the first several days. I feel this was caused by 2 main reasons. First, The software was constantly updating and my screen time was excessive as I was personalizing the features. Second, there are some tricks that I needed to learn in order to not waste battery life, which I will get into next. (2) There are some features that will drain the battery very fast. I will just explain the features I have on or use frequently and the ones I have off or no longer use. Hopefully, this will help those who are not getting the same experience as I am. --On/Use frequently - Custom battery mode, Tilt to wake, Wi-Fi (connected to my phone's hotspot), Google Assistant, weather, alarms, messages app, timer, stopwatch. Do not disturb when off wrist --Off/Don't use - Always on, touch to wake, maps app, notification previews, fitness apps. -If I am working out, or working in the yard/shed I sometimes manually turn off the screen by scrolling up and touching the icon under the speaker on/off icon. This will turn off the tilt to wake feature until I use the manual button to turn the watch back on. Overall, I love the look, feel, and features of this watch.

Worse battery and compatibility
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned the prior generation to this one due malfunction on the battery... Same thing happening to this one. Battery dries in 4-6 hours by max. Always using official charger. I had to continously restart the watch in order to turn on the Bluetooth and sync to phone. I won't recommend this item... the desing is great though.

The smart watch for stock android lovers
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was considering the new Galaxy line of 2020 but having had one before I really do not like the way Samsung supports its products long term. I decided to give this Fossil a try at a reduced price versus Samsung. Boy am I happy I did. If you are someone who wants a smart watch to look good on your wrist, not be massive in size, and give you all of the functions you need, this is for you. You will especially love it if you are a Google Pixel user since the software syncs with stock Android the best. The health features are sufficient and batterly life is typically around two days when I am using a custom mode. I can easily recommend this watch to anyone who enjoy stock Android and does not like Samsung software all that much.

Amazing, every day watch!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch as a gift for my boyfriend. He has loved it since the day he took it out of the box, and only takes it off at night to charge! He loves the ease of answering phone calls and viewing notifications on his watch, especially during work or active hours when pulling a phone out of his pocket would be a hassle. He’s a big guy and he still had to take a couple of links off for his wrist, so it is definitely a one size fits all! Best of all he loves the look. He’s not a fan of the silicone or “active” wristbands. This gives the look of luxury, and the feel of it too. I would recommend this product for any android owner!
