Was offered in-home consultation after mentioning to in-store home theater sales rep about difficulty finding tv for our very bright family room. We narrowed down to a few brands/types of tvs, but he suggested a free in home estimate to make sure. 10-days later the in-home rep came (my scheduling conflict, not Best Buy’s…they offered me the next day or day after) on time and was very courteous, but only spent 5-minutes in our living room (on a cloudy day) and told me what decision would likely be best. I had already reached same conclusion, but after doing research and trying to figure out which of the available choices would stand up to the amount of sunlight the room receives. Additionally, I specifically asked if our current sound bar would work with new television. The in-home consultant looked at it briefly and said yes. Again, I made sure to tell him we did not mind buying a new one, but since this one worked well, I just wanted to make sure it would work with a newer tv of a different brand than last one. Again, he was nice (low pressure sales) and assured me it would…even suggesting upgrade from bluetooth pairing to new optical cable to get better sound. He also told me that the sale and total tech coverage would include full set up of new tv and hauling away old one if needed. Sounds great! They will even help us set up our various streaming accounts on the new smart tv. Excellent! A week later I get the contract with pricing, and it all looks good so we purchase. TV delivered about 7 days later (ordered right around major holiday, so this was good). However, they delivered the tv without setting it up. When asked, delivery folks were very nice but stated that a different team takes care of that, and to expect to hear from them shortly. No problem, except never heard from them. It’s now past 5 on a Friday, and I have a gigantic heavy box in the middle of my family room. We manage to get tv set up without too much difficulty, but definitely not what we expected, given the proposed contract. Unfortunately, sound bar doesn’t work and we discovered it was NOT compatible with this newer tv. Overall, I would suggest that the in-home consultation was actually unnecessary and wasted time. I would have gotten the same good and bad advice with the in store sales rep and would have had the tv sooner and maybe with a new sound bar ready to go—not to mention anticipating the time required for set up and mild frustration that it would involve.
