Frigidaire beats it's competitors when it comes to quality air conditioners. This unit is definitely on the heavier side but has wheels to help maneuver it where you want. It's also not as bulky or big as I expected too. The window kit setup was very simple and straight forward. Even with my central air on, the upstairs in my townhouse is always much hotter than downstairs. I have this unit setup in my bedroom and within minutes It turns my space ice cold. My overall air quality also feels much better, thanks to the built in clean air ionizer. Even if I leave my bedroom door open it cools most of the upstairs too. The noise level is very low when compared to other portable air conditioners I've had. Controlling this AC is easy with the included remote with a backlit led display to adjust temp, fan speed, and timer settings. Overall I'm very pleased with how efficient my Frigidaire Portable AC has been running and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solution to cool a medium-large space easily.

Pro: -Easy to set up -Dehumidify mode Con: -Loud I’ve never had a portable AC before so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it’s at a reasonable price and does a decent job at cooling a small room. It is loud, much louder than expected. I would not be able to put this in my bedroom and sleep while it’s running. I’m assuming that this is just how portable AC’s are. I would likely only use it during really hot days or keep it as an emergency backup. Set up Setting up was straightforward. The window kit can be extended long enough to fit a 4’ window, however, the included foam pads are only 3’ long. How easy it is to install depends on the type of windows you have. If you have a modern window then it’s as easy as attaching the foam pads and extending the kit to fit. I have an older single pane window so I had to get a bit creative, but it was still easy. I didn’t screw the window kit permanently into my window frame so I can move it. If you plan on using the Dry mode (dehumidifier mode), you’ll need to buy a hose to use for drainage. Function I put this in a 200 sq ft bedroom, and after setting it to 70, it cooled the room to about 75 after 40 minutes and it stayed there. Granted that the room isn’t as well insulated and it was still cool, I was still expecting it to be cooler than that. I didn’t use Dry mode so I can’t say how well that works. By default, the Ionizing feature is on but can be turned off by holding the Swing button on the panel for 2 seconds. It’s somewhat loud. At its lowest settings, it’s said to be about as loud as a library. That is not the case for mine. With just the fan running at the lowest speed, it’s about as loud as a box fan. However, once it’s in cooling mode, it sounds like a combination of rattling and the buzz of a loud freezer. The remote is fine, no real complaints. Sometimes it doesn’t register unless you’re a bit away from the unit. Maintenance There’s a bit of maintenance. There’s a filter that needs to be clean once the warning light comes on. It would also need to be drained before long storage. If using Dry mode, you’ll need a way to collect the drainage.

This portable AC unit is very effective. I tried it initially in a handy double hung window. Initially I did not use the insulation material that is included. The window kit connector has a top and bottom and an inside and outside – the part with the screw holes is the top. The inside is marked with a sticker. I mention this because the directions are a bit fuzzy on which is top and bottom. Nonetheless the install was simple and intuitive and only takes a few minutes. If you complete the install with the insulation and screws it will take another 10 minutes. I would suggest this order of steps which is easier than what the directions say. First put the both sides of the duct connectors on the expandable duct. Then connect the round connector to the unit. Check the fit of the window slider and you made need to cut it down a couple inches or so depending on the width of your window. The material cut smoothly using my bandsaw but a handsaw will work as well. Put your adhesive insulation in place and then attach the window slider kit. Use the provided screws to lock the window slider in place. Now connect the other end of the duct to the window slider and you are all set. I used both the included remote and the on-board controls to operate the unit. It is amazing in terms of functions and capability. I set the unit to 72 degrees and also clicked the swing button. You may not realize that when you turn the unit on, it opens the inside shutter all by itself and when you turn the unit off, it closes the shutter with a little motor. You also have a Swing function button and this will cause the inside shutter to move up and down while in operation. This causes the path of the cool air to change and makes the unit even more effective – very nice and tip of the cap to the Frigidaire engineers. The unit has several modes that are well described in the manual. It is important to read the manual if you want to utilize the benefits of all the wonders this little bugger can perform including the dehumidifying Dry Mode. Another nice feature is a built-in air ionizer, great to catch those pet particles for me. In case you are wondering, the condensation from AC operation is evaporated and sent out the exhaust port (out your window) with the hot air that is also being expelled. I checked the air coming into the room from this unit and it was very cold. Then I went outside and the air being expelled was very warm – great. Although I gave the unit a quick test inside the house. My intent is to use it in an enclosed garage. Again, read the manual and follow the care and cleaning of filters so you can keep this unit going at its best. I highly recommend this very reasonably priced and quite effective AC unit.

The Frigidaire portable air conditioner was easy to set up and included clear instructions. You can easily select options by pressing on the top electric control panel, or by using the included remote (batteries included). The control panel also has an indicator light to remind you when the washable dust screen needs cleaning. Optionally, there is an actual air filter available for purchase separately. The Frigidaire cools effectively in rooms around 350 sq ft, without excessive noise unless it is set to high. The fan has three speeds, and while the noise is audible at the medium and high fan settings, the low setting is reasonably quiet while still moving the air well. The Frigidaire’s air distribution is very good both in the regular mode (one-direction) and in the swing setting, which cycles the louvers back and forth. There is a fourth fan mode, automatic which did not impress me. The fan never shuts off, even in automatic mode. The condenser will kick on and off as needed, but the fan will always run. The Frigidaire has a small footprint so you can place it just about anywhere, and has a pleasant, minimalistic appearance that doesn't look out of place.

Got this one in - setup and using in no time. Setup is simply attaching the hose to the back, running to a window, Some windows will have to be trimmed a little bit with foam and extension. And then just put batteries in the remote. Turn on and relax in the cool cool air! Seriously, setup was quick and easy. I wouldn't say its portable in the sense of take from room to room. But the window kit is easy to put in and setup in just a couple minutes. It did a good job of cooling my office and the attached hallway. never competing with my main AC thermostat was good! I thought the unit was a tad on the loud side regardless of the fan speed. I pulled out the sound meter and averaged about 62db running in a normally quiet room of 38db. Its a white noise, so you mentally tune it out after a bit. I think it topped around 78db at its max I like the remote but it is a RF remote, so you have to point to the unit. Its fairly strong, so i was able to bounce the signal off the wall I believe there are few models above this that are quieter and have wifi control but for a small unit it can handle a larger room quite well and get the job done!

100°F is the new normal here in Central Texas and my home office will get 6-8° hotter than the rest of the house because of all the computer equipment that I use throughout my workday and then gaming afterwards. I wanted a portable A/C because my HOA does not allow window units to be installed. The Frigidaire 3-in-1 works well. It can bring down the office to be in line with the rest of the house in just a few hours. My house is newer and has the HVAC system configured so that each room is linked to the other, meaning I can never seal my office off so I can’t get it below the house temperature. Once the portable unit “equalizes” the temperature with the house it’ll stay there. However, when the ambient temperature in the office is 70° I am measuring about 50-54° coming out of the unit which to me is incredible as that’s better cooling than my central AC system. My biggest issue is the practical portability of this unit. The insert that you use to attach the exhaust duct to the window is rather cheap and flimsy. In fact, mine was either cracked out of the box or I did it when first setting it up and didn’t notice, not sure. It doesn’t stay in my window that well and would require lots of duct tape to properly seal it. The kit does come with some strips to help seal the space around the window, but I’m not using them. The way the hose attaches to the insert is also poor. It will easily fall out as you’re trying to get the insert in place. It needs a more secure “snap” to stay there. I need to remove the duct every night so I can set my house alarm when I go to sleep and the process is not easy. There is a wired gate at the end of the duct in case you don’t have a screened window but I find it odd that it’s not a mesh screen because while it might keep out a larger rodent, insects or even a snake would otherwise fit through. Other than that, I really like the unit, the remote control is fantastic, providing you with a digital display (with backlight) of what mode the unit is in, fan speed, the current temperature setting, etc. I like that the louver auto opens and closes as well. There is an ionizer but I have no idea how to test that it's doing anything other than I know it's set to "on". The unit generates about 60dB of noise from 3ft away at high fan speed. The noise doesn’t bother me cause I like it while I work However, I can see how it might become annoying if you were living in a small space and relying on this as your primary cooling. Pros: Excellent Cooling Performance Remote Control with LCD feedback Dehumidifier Mode Ionizer Fan Only Mode (does not require exhaust hose) Shutdown Timer Washable Filter and Filter Clean Reminders Cons: The window venting kit could be better Some might find it noisy Overall – it cools extremely well but the supplied window venting kit makes it a “set it and forget it” product more than a portable one. It’s basically a window unit with wheels that sits on the floor in front of the window, and if that’s what you are looking for, I do recommend.

    Portable, Good for Sun Room

The Frigidaire Portable 3-1 Room Air Conditioner is a portable air conditioner that is designed to cool up to 450 square feet and can be easily rolled from location to location, if needed. It comes with a remote or can be controlled by a panel on the top of the unit. An installation kit it provided for exhausting the unit through a window. Installation was fairly simple, consisting of unpacking, installing the exhaust installation kit, and turning on the unit. The installation process, however, was complicated by the fact that my window was not wide enough to fit the exhaust piece and thus I had to cut the piece to allow it to fit. This was not difficult but it is probably something that will have to be done for most installations. In operation, the unit was quiet and adequately cooled my area on a 90 degree day in North Carolina. My use is sun room that was previously a screen porch but is now enclosed without heating or cooling from the main heating/cooling ventilation system in the house. Other uses could be a small garage or any location where additional cooling and heating are necessary. I recommend the Frigidaire as a quality, portable, cooling and heating solution if you have areas like a sun room that needs cooling/heating. For a relatively low cost, you can transform these areas into a much more useable and comfortable areas.

Our landlord was slow in getting our swamp cooler on, and we were dying (lol). The unit is wonderful, keeps our room and the hallway super cool. Only reason it's 4 star is that the insert that holds the vent in the window melted. Kinda weird, and I hope it was a one off. But it's been fine since.

The Frigidaire - 3-in-1 Portable Room Air Conditioner is a great option to keep a room cooler during the heat in the summertime. I have tried other window units in the past, but they were the ones that sat inside of the window. This one looks much better than those. The installation was pretty simple. I used it in a large, 400 sqft room. This unit covers at least 450 sq. Ft, 10,000 BTU ( ASHRAE), 6,500 BTU( DOE), which was perfect for what I needed. Some of the features on this unit are: the 3-1 dehumidifying dry mode, multi speed fan with built air ionizer, and an auto swing air circulation setting. The unit is quiet, despite it's size. Comes with a washable filter. The unit will let you know when it needs to be cleaned. The unit does have wheels, but those are not used much. Once it is installed, there is not much movement it can do. All in all, this unit is great. It keeps my room much more cooler than it once was, and I can feel the difference. The included remote is a plus too. You can control the temperature and other settings.

I have been shopping for a portable air conditioner for so long, but I never could find one that seemed like it would work for us. Our house has A/C and it works fine, everywhere except for in my office! It gets so hot in the summer that I needed something to bring the temperature down and make it bearable. This Frigidaire unit was exactly what I needed, I am only sad that it took me so long to finally get one! The outlet on the window is very discreet and much smaller than others I have seen, which is what always had me delaying the purchase. I didn't want it to be so noticeable from the outside. This one does exactly that! In addition it cools my office, even with the 15 foot ceiling in no time! Now I have a livable space again, and it is being done as discreetly as possible! One other worry I always had was noise level, fear not! This system is not loud at all! I have it in the back of the room and no one can hear it on conference calls for work, or during my late night gaming sessions!

I bought this for my bedroom in my small one bedroom apartment to help keep me cool in the SoCal summer heat. I did a lot of research before choosing this a/c unit and I'm really happy with my purchase so far. It cools my room down quickly and helps maintain the temp of the rest of the apartment on really hot days. It gets pretty cold, is easy to use and set up. Could be quieter, thats kind of how I feel about all the units I've experienced though. I would recommend if you want a mid range portable a/c unit.

This product overall is a solid portable air conditioner. It cools the room as well as dehumidifies the air to make the room more comfortable. The range of the cooling is very good as well. We have found that it covers an open area 700 sq ft but also will go further into two rooms we have even though the cooling is rather limited. Pros: *. Solidly built - this product is put together well and is solid with no discernible rattling or secondary noise. Keep in mind this unit is 70 lbs so carrying it can be a challenge. *. Good cooling power *. Wheels! not that big of a deal but the wheels go over surfaces very easy. Cons: *. You need a horizontal opening window to vent the hot air outside. While this is not a deal killer, it makes it a decision on whether to get this or an in window unit. The portability is somewhat limited. *. you need a hose to drain this unit from time to time. You may be able to use a bucket or something to do it without a hose but the preferred way is to use a garden hose to grain the water to a sink or outside. Overall, this is a good unit to cool and dehumidify a room. Just be aware of the need to have a horizontal window to vent the hot air.

This Frigidaire unit is a dehumidifier, AC unit and fan all in one. It comes with a remote unit as well as a connector hose and a plastic insert to allow the unit to exhaust to the outside through a window either horizontally or vertically. There is a connection for a hose for use when the dehumidifier mode is selected in order to drain the water taken from the air. Note that this hose is not included. I used a four inch or so garden hose connector. To test this unit, I placed in in a three season room in the summer in the US southeast where it can get hot and humid. The window attachment fit the window fine, but given that the window framing is metal and not wood or plastic, I was not able to secure it with the included screws. However, I was able to use the included foam strips to help close the gaps as well as provide some support to the unit so that it would not fall out of the window. As long as the unit isn't moved, it stays in place just fine. I find that the remote works well and is very convenient. I used the fan mode, the cool mode and the dry modes in this room. It also comes with an auto mode that I have not tried enough to be able to competently review that function. I found the the dry mode (dehumidifier) actually seemed to work best to cool the room. It dried the air and cooled the room nicely and fairly quickly. The cool mode didn't seem to do so as effectively and the fan was just, well, a fan. The swivel feature of the louvre was nice and directs the amount of air flow. Overall, the unit was sleek in appearance and fairly quiet and if I'm looking for another unit, I will definitely consider getting another one.

Warning: Be careful when buying Open Box Excellent

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Note: this review has to do with Best Buy, not the product itself. Be careful when buying an Open Box item. I bought this AC as an Open Box Excellent - so the product was supposed to look new and work perfectly fine. When it arrived though, it was a nightmare. Best Buy clearly did not do their due diligence in ensuring this product was in excellent condition. The front panel was absolutely covered in scuff marks, a wheel was broken, the front panel has a chip in it and was coming disconnected from the sides, and the prongs on the plug itself were very bent. Now this might have been damaged in shipping except for the fact that there was a USPS 8 x 11 return box addressed to someone who was not me. If they had properly inspected the AC, they would have seen that box and removed it. To make matters worse, I call Best Buy and they said to return it in store and I can get an replacement free of charge. Only to drive out to the store and have they say they can't do that, they can only refund me my order. After all that hassle, when I called Best Buy again to try to get a replacement for their mistake in quality control, they said they can't do that and I'll have to pay the current price for an Open Box Excellent which was $40 more. Bottom Line: Be careful when buying used products from Best Buy. They clearly don't inspect the products before setting a price and all it'll do it waste your time and money making you run around while receiving conflicting information. I am definitely taking my business elsewhere.

This Frigidaire - 3-in-1 Portable Room Air Conditioner does an amazing job of cooling down our master bedroom at night. We live in the central California valley where temperatures reach over 100 during the day and only down to mid 70's at night. Our central A/C runs all day so we give it a break at night and now use this (portable) A/C at night. Unboxing and setup is somewhat simple. The included instructions are a little confusing but thanks to a YouTube video on this product we had it up and running in less then a half hour. The vent shield that covers the window is not made for all windows. You may need to use the foam weather stripping to seal up unexpected gaps. The vent hose feels a little cheap so over time connecting and disconnecting I'm sure I will need to buy a new one. The 4 stars are definitely for the cooling power this unit has. We set the Frigidaire - 3-in-1 Portable Room Air Conditioner to 74 degrees and our room stays cool all night. It's no louder then when we crank our ceiling fan to high speed so sleeping is no problem. It's just like having a little white noise in the background. The reason it is not 5 stars is the "portable" in the name of the unit. First off we only use it upstairs so it took me and my son to carry it up the stairs because of how heavy it is. I was hoping it was portable enough so that my son could use it in his bedroom during the day. But with the weight of the unit, wheels that don't roll well on carpet, and having to uninstall the window vent cover and reinstall it in his window it's almost not worth moving it at all. One plus is that it comes with a remote. In the middle of the night if the room gets to cool I can raise the temp up from bed without having to get up. It does have a sleep mode but that gradually raises the temp as the night goes on so that setting isn't for us. Overall the Frigidaire - 3-in-1 Portable Room Air Conditioner is a great cooling unit just not so portable.

    Good, not great

This unit is very user friendly. It is easy enough to install and has helped mitigate the temperature on hotter days. After the last freestanding AC unit we bought 2 summers ago stopped working and we couldn't find anyone to service it in time for a heat wave (or after), we bought this one as a replacement. Unfortunately, unlike our older device (very similar design/functionality, but a Black & Decker), it does not seem to adequately cool the square footage to the extent that it claims, so while it helps, it's definitely not a cure-all for our space. Part of this is just that our house is older and in a climate experiencing more heat extremes than originally expected when it was built, as well as the fact that the layout makes the unit's distribution of cool air more challenging. It's also not the best design for efficiency, as heat comes off of the tube that hooks up to the window, which counteracts the purpose of the device. Ultimately, if it is possible for you, I would recommend a window-unit over these for that reason. I would have done that had the option.
