Great unit for garage or home

We have a large 3 car garage (just under 500 s.f.) and it is too hot and humid to be out there long in our climate without a fan. So we decided to try this unit. The hardest part is it will be delivered to your front door and you need to move it. The box is big and the unit weighs 70 lbs. A dolly will be very helpful and then just remove the top of the box to unpack. The instructions warn not to use with an extension cord so that limited positions in our garage as the cord is only 7’ in length and the exhaust hose only goes up to 59”. Our outlets are placed higher so that used up some cord footage. With the caster wheels it moves easily on a flat surface. We didn’t try on carpeting. The air conditioner makes several noises depending upon mode and stage of the process. This isn’t a quiet unit to sleep with, even in low mode. We tested on a humid 85 degree day. Our garage showed 90 degrees when we started. First we used Cool Mode, Hi and set to 65 degrees. After 30 minutes our garage was at 85 degrees, after an hour it was 80 degrees. The Swing function is also helpful at moving the air around. We were working on a project and came back after 2 hours of run time and it was 70 degrees but felt cooler. Probably because of the air flow in the garage. Dry Mode was also tested and really lowered the humidity. In Dry Mode the fan only runs on Lo speed. The unit doesn’t come with a drip pan or a drainage hose. We used a garden hose to drain but had some trouble connecting it. Our garage has a coated floor so if the unit would leak we would be okay. You can also activate the Ionizer for cleaner air; we didn’t notice much of an improvement. My main complaint is that the exhaust hose can disconnect if you bump the unit. The exhaust hose and connection should be made of better materials so it stays put. It also gets hot. Unit controls are well labeled and easy to use. The included remote also works well. I think we will Velcro the remote to the unit so it doesn’t get lost. We didn’t try the window kit, but it felt a little flimsy with a very cheap foam strip. We had some heavy-duty foam left over from another project that worked very well. The Wi-Fi connection wasn’t working in our garage so I cannot review how that feature works. This is a great portable unit. It works well and has several features. I really like that it dehumidifies but wasn’t impressed with the drainage process. It is perfect for our garage.

Website says recommended for rooms of 550 sq ft. However, when it arrived, the spec on the box indicates 350 sq feet. Apparently if you go through the customer pictures on the website, this was an issue raised over a year ago. Seems like best buy is engaged in false advertising. I contacted a customer service chat who informed me my options were to drive a half hour each way to the nearest Best Buy Store and have them figure it out. Inaccurate labeling, poor process for resolution, really unhappy.
