Excellent Dehumidifier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old dehumidifier (a Kenmore) finally gave out after about 13 years of reliable service. I reviewed many brands and finally settled on this one. The Frigidaires generally have very good reviews from the sites I looked at, so I was OK to go ahead and try this one. When I went to the store, I noticed that they had these newer versions in stock. Our basement gets very humid in summer, and there is one room in particular that has no windows or ventilation, so it is particularly humid and damp smelling. Our basement area that I dehumidify is around 900 sq. feet. When I first turned this on, the built-in humidistat registered over 80%. After a day or two it had taken it down to about 50%. I keep it at 55%, which works great so far. One thing to note about this unit is that IT DOES TURN COMPLETELY OFF when it reaches the desired humidity level (within a range actually). I read reviews about other ones, even Frigidaires, that do not turn off the fan, even after the desired humidity level is reached. Only the compressor turned off on those. Anyway, this one completely turns off and on which is good. I purchased the 70 pint version at first, but it consumes more power than I was comfortable with (1 HP) and the efficiency of this unit is the same as the larger unit, surprisingly. I returned it unopened and exchanged it for the middle size. We have a floor drain in the basement - I just used the included nozzle and a short piece of garden hose to drain. Very easy and I don't have to worry with emptying the bucket. No leaks or anything. One thing to note about this unit - the air blows out the right hand side of the unit not the front. This actually works well for my case, due to where our unit sits and the location of the most humid room (to the right). This may or may not matter to you, but be aware. I think the noise level is average. All humidifiers make noise, this one seems about like the rest. It's not like a freight train and it's not like a whisper either - but I want a dry basement. The controls are nice. Easy to read and bright. You can delay either start or turn off. I don't need this feature and haven't used it - but it's probably a plus if you need it. I've had this about two weeks now and it's running great so far. I would definitely purchase this brand/model again. I hope it will last - only time will tell.

Not built to last
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only lasted about two years. Was nice while it lasted. Used a hose attached to drain water. Not sure why they don't build these things to last, but I do buy extended warranties now for dehumidifiers.

Maybe I don't understand dehumidifiers...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my bedroom to pull out the humidity out and cool the room down. This did do a good job pulling out the humidity but it blows out hot air with was counterproductive

worked great for 2 summers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Frigidaire Dehumidifier is quiet and effective. My basement smells great. I bought a this second machine for the other end of the basement, and bought the warranties for both of them, since Best Buy was very good about honoring the warranty after the first lost effectiveness the 3rd summer. Probably lost some freon.

Seems to be acting up after two wk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not convinced this is the best dehumidifier. I have a lot of space to keep the humidity down, at times I take the bin out before the night and it keeps running, at first would shut off.

Seems to do the job!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a few years our old dehumidifier stopped working. With the humid season in Indiana approaching, we needed a functional dehumidifier. This has been doing the job for a month now.

It lasted only 2 1/2 years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this Fridgaire after a couple of Sears products that did not last no more than 3 years on each and I’ve decided give this unit a try but failed after 2 1/2 years. They just don’t make the dehumidifiers last long anymore then say 3-4 years. I’d recommend highly to buy the extended warranty if you don’t want to doll out $200-300 every couple of years. Just exchanged with another newer model with 4yr warranty and hope it will last a bit longer.

Decent humidifier with funny smell
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works well as a humidifier but does have a funny smell like burnt plastic/oil... it also makes the room warmer than expected.

Posted .Hello, clpt. It is normal for there to be a new smell in the beginning, but if it does not disappear after running it a few times, please contact us directly. Also, it is normal for the appliance to put off warm air from the ventilation louvers. It is recommended that the room have air circulating and that you have sufficient space around the appliance. ~ Brandi

DO NOT BUY - FO error
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so frustrated with this dehumidifier, read reviews before purchasing it late Oct 2015. I started to have trouble with it last year but figured I just needed to clean the filter well and went through winter not thinking much of it. Once I started using it again this summer it was making a clicking noise and I kept getting the FO error. So I cleaned the filter again and pressed the filter reset button. It hasn't stopped doing it. I googled the issue and found that it is really common with this model. I tried different outlets as recommended on forums. Very disappointed, expected it to last several years. Even more disappointing is that I don't use it 6 months out of the year and this happened (so basically it broke with a years worth of use in 1 1/2 years which is outside of the 1 year warranty.

Posted .Oh no, JMich! I can certainly understand your frustration! This error is related to a voltage condition. The outlet voltage should be 115V±10% and the surrounding temperature should be with in the range of 41 °F to 96 °F. Unplug the unit and plug it in again under normal operating conditions. If the issue remains, please contact us directly for additional assistance. ~ Brandi
