The thermostat seems to be off many degrees or perhaps it is faulty. 6000 btus should adequately cool a room 12x14, ECON Mode simply doesn't work properly at all as the compressor hardly cycles on to cool the room at the set temp. When I lower the temp again.. the unit does not respond and the compressor does not cycle on again. Did I get a faulty unit or is this just a bad a/c altogether. Suffice to say.. I am hot under the collar....literally!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.To begin, I got this unit as my main AC went out and I was trying to get something to cool the house before we replaced our main unit. I would say maybe I got a bad unit as the AC purchased burned out less than a week later. The plug literally melted. Note I was not running this unit 24/7. I was only using this during the day and I have not had any issues with my electrical. I would say the unit failed on two points. 1. The obvious, it should not have burned it self out 2. Secondly if it was going to catch on fire/burn it self out I would have expected the breaker on the unit to have cut it self off before any of that transpired and it did not. I was able to return the unit and get something different.

Sleeping with this noise is just impossible. I assumed this was not part of the AC's normal operation, so I'm returning the unit for an replacement. This is already very burdensome, because I'll have to carry it till the nearest UPS. I'll also have to pay for another installation. Choosing the cheap AC turns out to be really expensive.

Posted .Goodness! It is normal to hear ‘high pitch chatter’ a sound of rushing air, gurgle/hiss, pinging or swishing and vibration, tuffpitt. These are all normal. For more information of normal sounds during operation, please refer to page 4 in your Owner’s Manual. Verify that the original installation procedures have been followed properly. Pay special attention to any gaskets. If improperly installed, even a high quality, low-noise unit can rattle mercilessly.
