You get what you pay for...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several different, low-end Garmin models and something always went wrong with it. I finally took the plunge and spent some money for this puppy right here. Man, it is definitely worth every cent I paid for it. It is amazing. It just does everything better than the low-end models. If you truly want to keep track of everything you do all day and want the customizable faces and so you can see what is important to you, then this is the watch for you. If you lift weights, this thing keeps track of your reps and your sets and will allow you to adjust your weight and reps if it's a little off. They do have auto sets but it's in Beta and it's not very good because it doesn't account for rests during sets so you can't squeeze a few more reps in. Once you stop or pause, it will end your set. Really sucks. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but for some reason all of my Garmins have one issue in common... BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY ISSUES! This drives me crazy. They need to just switch to Bluetooth 5.0 already. Sometimes my watch will be disconnected and I had no idea or I will go to sync my watch through the app and I will see that my watch is disconnected. Can be very frustrating. Thank goodness it's very easy to reconnect. Double edge sword.

More than a watch it's a life changer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paying this kind of money for a watch is totally insane......with that said it's been the best watch I have owned, and I have had some good ones. Casio pathfinder and a Suunto just too name a few. First I did major research on this and other high end ABC watches. I looked at all kinds and decided that the garmin was the one. It does more stuff than my phone from 10 years ago. It has maps on to track (cant zoom in on screen is my only gripe about this watch) but it has breadcrumbs and will use it's own GPS. When you download the app your going to find so many cool things, Your heart rate, your o2 level, your stress level, your sleep patterns....yes if you wear it at night it keeps track of your sleeping habits. You can add different activities to the watch, if you walk just hit that activity and start it, it will keep track of distance and much much more. It even maps it on the app. If you Mountain bike it has that, hiking and more. If you like music you download an app and listen from the watch via bluetooth. You can change the face of the watch...you can send text messages back from the watch. I found a cool archery app that keeps track of your groupings. This is my first smartwatch and will never go back. If you like smartwatches and enjoy the outdoors this rugged watch will do the trick.

Great watch! Love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switched from Apple Watch to this one! Was hesitant at first because I really liked my Apple Watch! I am very happy with how durable and how long the battery lasts. I can wear it all day and night for several days in a row without worrying about battery. I also love the activity tracking and the ability to map hikes and activities. Love the look of this watch too. At first it seemed rather big but I love the size now that I’m used to it. Takes a little bit of learning to get used to garmin platform but very happy with this and it’s features!

Fenix 5X plus
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fenix 5x Plus is my first Garmin watch. I have owned it for a month now and so far I have almost nothing to complain about. I was a bit worried about it's size before buying, since my wrist is neither small nor huge, just average. But since there was a good deal at the time, I decided to take the risk and shop online without comparing 5 plus and 5x plus sizes. Couldn't be happier! The 51mm case works perfectly for me. I have to be honest that I'm used to wearing Casio G-Shocks, which are kinda bulky, but unless you have a small wrist, 5x plus will fit just fine. Aside from the included Silicone band, I got a Slate Gray stainless steel band from a local store. The metal band makes the watch look like another watch, would definitely recommend. Sometimes I forget to put the silicone band on and go run with the steel one, it feels kinda loosy and you don't feel the vibrate alerts so much, but all and all, it's alright. Also, the quick release feature is awesome! If you have the budget for a sapphire crystal lens, I would very much recommend getting it. Definitely go for it! You are very likely for hit doorways, desks, car doors and etc with your watch when wearing it all day long. I've seen people complain about the glass getting scratched a week after purchasing the watch. The watch interface is sometimes too complex, with too many options. You will have to go through a lot of menus and press the buttons a lot of times to get the settings right. But most settings can be done through the Connect app on your phone, so it's not a big deal. I have seen a guy say the watch connectivity is not reliable, but I have not had this problem whatsoever. If I leave my phone in my room and go to the kitchen, it displays "disconnected". As soon as I return to my room, it says "connected". No problem at all. Sync with connect app works just fine, nothing to complain. I have not tried navigation yet, but managed to install better maps for my region quite easily. Just google installing maps and you'll see that it is quite easy. As for the watch features, here goes my reviews: -Battery duration is awesome, in my opinion. I leave the 24/7 wrist heart rate monitor on and the battery last for more than 10 days. -GPS + Glonass setting works very fine, although I don't seem to see any difference between GPS only -Garmin Pay does not work in my country (no banks support it), so if this feature is what makes you choose a watch, check compatibility beforehand. There is a link in garmin's website. -Pulseox meter seems kinds useless if you are not hiking big altitudes, which is my case. So I just leave it off for battery saving. -Spotify compatibility works fine, but I had a little trouble connecting my wireless earbuds. Had to go to a place with little signal interference (away from other bluetooth devices, wireless networks and specially my phone), Only then the watch successfully connect to the earbuds. -Original Garmin watch faces are great and very customizable. Connect IQ Store also offers a big variety of watch faces. -As for running/activity tracking, I don't think there is any better equipment. It give you tons of metrics (steps, calories, all-day heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen levels, all-day stress levels, VO2 max, Lactate threshold, weight tracking, sleep monitoring, training effect, performance condition and a lot more). -Smart notifications are handy if you like them. You can see who is calling you, read messages, reply with pre-defined text. I don't think you can compare the smartwatch functionalities of a Apple Watch or Samsung smartwatch, but overall, they are fine. This watch is made for sports, not smartwatch stuff. I turned the notifications off because they bother me all day long, only left call notification on when I'm running, if I happen to be with my phone, of course. -I have not tested the wrist heart rate monitor while exercising, I just use the heart rate monitor strap. Overall, I'm very impressed with the watch. Would definitely recommend it, even though it is pricey.

A Great Companion Out There
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's pricey. It's hefty. It's huge. And yet it doesn't need to apologize for any of those because it's proud of what it can do, and some more! Not just that but it can back it up with solid data that's a treasure trove for numbers-and-graphs geeks! It's true - if it cannot track an activity, why the heck are you trying to do it? There's no need to go into detail of what it can and cannot do, as it has been discussed in the interwebs ad infinitum. The only question one needs to ask themselves is this: Are they worthy to have this beast and at least give it some tiny justice by having it do what it's intended for, and going out is a great start to make.

Fitness, Style & Functional
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an Apple Watch and liked it but battery would only last 1.5 days. This watch is true GPS accurate fitness tracking and has a professional appearance. The battery will last 2weeks and won’t scratch 100% satisfied.

Must have for anyone into fitness
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So at any level of fitness you should be tracking some stats. Garmins are very intuitive and offer more than polar and fitbit. This watch is a bit over kill at my level so I could have gone with the Vivoactive 4 but I wanted the more rugged device and didn't want a touch screen device. That being said, the battery life is great and the customization is unbeatable. The data is accurate and very useable and easy to understand. Couple that with their Garmin Connect app and website and you can't miss.

Fantastic fitness watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic fitness watch first with smart watch features second. It does absolutely everything I need it to do. Once connected to the app it opens up tons of historical tracking to get you to your fitness goals. My only, and biggest, complaint is the finish on the silicon band wears very quickly and it’s another $50 to replace it with OEM.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pressured into writing a review to earn 25 bonus points from Best Buy. It is a great watch though. I use it to monitor my fitness, especially when cycling. Best Buy is also requiring me to write a review of at least 50 characters, which is ridiculous.

Does not work for Dark skinned people
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, well made watch, probably the best fitness tracker I have ever worn when its actively tracking. For some reason it never worked for me. I kept the watch for a whole month and then I read that it's a software glitch and the auto function for turning on the heart rate sensor does not work as intended for darker skin tones. It turns off when I am wearing the watch on my wrist almost as though it thinks it's not being worn and there is no way to turn it back on. However, when actively tracking like jogging outside all of its features works great and it's amazing. Sadly, I advise dark skinned folk to test first to see if it will work before leaving the store, or until garmin addresses the issue. When I have someone else with lighter skin tone wear it, it's just fine and when I wear it on the underside of my wrist which is a lighter brown, it works ok but who does that. I tried a reset, a reboot, a replacement unit, same result. Everything else about the watch worked great and I wish Garmin would allow a manual override to turn on the heartrate sensor and the Oxygen sensor since those two things control most if not all of the metrics being tracked. In any case, big kudos to Best Buy staff for helping me find a Fitbit. I would still buy it if there is a way to get it to work as intended as I liked the battery life a lot.
