Best watch on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the ultimate activity tracker and outdoors watch, with some smarts. I've been using the Fenix series for a while now and the new "plus" doesn't disappoint. Onboard music works perfect, although Spotify app would be cool. Onboard maps are also great. 20 days of battery is no joke. While there are better budget options, this is a badass watch.

Garmin 5x plus

Does not work for Dark skinned people
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, well made watch, probably the best fitness tracker I have ever worn when its actively tracking. For some reason it never worked for me. I kept the watch for a whole month and then I read that it's a software glitch and the auto function for turning on the heart rate sensor does not work as intended for darker skin tones. It turns off when I am wearing the watch on my wrist almost as though it thinks it's not being worn and there is no way to turn it back on. However, when actively tracking like jogging outside all of its features works great and it's amazing. Sadly, I advise dark skinned folk to test first to see if it will work before leaving the store, or until garmin addresses the issue. When I have someone else with lighter skin tone wear it, it's just fine and when I wear it on the underside of my wrist which is a lighter brown, it works ok but who does that. I tried a reset, a reboot, a replacement unit, same result. Everything else about the watch worked great and I wish Garmin would allow a manual override to turn on the heartrate sensor and the Oxygen sensor since those two things control most if not all of the metrics being tracked. In any case, big kudos to Best Buy staff for helping me find a Fitbit. I would still buy it if there is a way to get it to work as intended as I liked the battery life a lot.

Best watch for fitness

Significant GPS Inaccuracies, be warned...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really disappointed with the GPS performance of this watch. I have been a huge fan of Garmin activity watches, having owned several generations of forerunners over the past 15 years and my latest prior to purchasing the 5X plus was the Fenix 3. The Fenix 5X Plus has significantly poorer GPS accuracy and loses GPS signal during runs, even while running in an open field with no obstructions around. Having trialed both the Fenix 5X Plus and the Fenix on the same run with the same GPS setting (and after all recommended fixes by Garmins customer service) found the 5X plus to way off, up to an entire mile on an 8 mile run! I have been really disappointed in one of the basic functionalities of the watch and would advise anyone looking for an accurate running/GPS tracking device to skip this product. Sadly let down Garmin.

Looks good but not accurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is not accurate in almost any sport I use it for. I use for running and walking and it doesn’t record distance properly. Sometimes it is 50% or more variance to actual. Used for skiing and tge same thing happened. Only thing that it works ok for is golf but it is basic distance to green watch when it comes to that. Bought for $950 a year ago. Waist of money.
