Poor heart rate monitor sensitivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my old Fenix 3, I bought Fenix 5x. If you think to use Fenix 5x without wearing a chest strap don't buy. Beacause heart rate monitor sensitivity very poor and always wrong not 5-10 bpm. Differance of bpm is 20-45.

Top of the Line
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a big watch person. I liked having an Apple watch, but it I hate a square watch and it felt limited in the tracking department as far as exercise. I liked lots of the different Android wear products, but being a loyal iPhone user they were limited on the features that could be used even when they made the app for the iPhone. I was not going to get a google email account just so I could get a handful of extra notifications. So, it was between this watch and the Misfit Vapor which is not going to be released until this summer 2017 now. I went and looked at the other Misfit watch that currently is on the market, and they don't even sell it at Best Buy or any other retailors. You can get it online or at Kohls. That was a huge red flag for me, so I decided on the Garmin after checking out the Fenix 3 HR at Best Buy. Seeing the additional features that were being added to the 5X, it was a no brainer. For a digital watch, it is not very dressy and I am a suit and tie guy by day. I am looking forward to getting a leather band for it for just that reason, but in the meantime it is very comfortable and it tracks everything you need very accurately. I wore a Misfit Ray (great fitness tracker for the money and quality) for a few days with the watch and they were within a 100 steps of each other. I am still experimenting with the maps on this thing, but wow is it amazing! No wonder these things are so hard to find right now. It is clear why this is the best fitness watch on the market right now.

horrible heart rate monitor accuracy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am pretty disappointed with the accuracy of the heart rate monitor. This is the second Fenix 5x i have (first one i returned for an even worse heart rate monitor) and the heart rate monitor is extremely inaccurate for a 500+ dollar watch that is specifically made for this. I work out crossfit/mountain bike/heavy lifting and at times it tells me my heart rate is 50bpm which is impossible after running 1 mile and deadlifting 300+ pounds for over 15 repetitions backed by continued work outs. Then it says i slept 8 hours when some nights i dont even go to sleep till 1 am and wake up at 6am. To top it off, i can be sitting down at my desk working at it will say 100 bpm.. which is extremely odd when it rarely gets passed 100 during my intense work outs. This is unacceptable for a watch that doesnt even have a touchscreen and is supposed to be highly accurate. Many of the statistics it gives you such as calories burned, resting required, and others are all based on the heart rate. IF the heart rate is wrong, all the other calculations are wrong. I am not happy about this and i have gone through 2 fenix 5x sapphires, put latest updates, and restarted. And to test its inaccuracy, i have taken the watch off for over 1 minute and it still displays a heart rate.

IS THIS A SIGN OF MORE PROBLEMS TO COME???
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Watch ordered on bestbuy.com 12/24/19 and received 01/04/20. I run a lot so I use it to track steps, miles, and time. Two weeks ago, watch stopped syncing with my phone so I was not able to see distance run on my Garmin connect. I turned phone and watch off and on, it synced but of course it wouldn't show my previous activity on Garmin connect. On a fully charged battery, I went running my usual route which is about 6 miles. At exactly 2.73 mile, phone went dead and wont power back on. Didn't want to stop so I cont'd my route. Got home and realized battery was completely drained. It's been charging for past half hr and just showed 19%. I'm ready to go overseas and planned on using this watch a lot but not sure about that now. Lots of people appear to appreciate the battery life; is mine an isolated case?

great but lost
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved this watch. unfortunately the only issue i had was working and the band separated from my wrist and the watch was lost to the wilderness. When i had the watch though it was by far the best one i had.

Poor screen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost, if your expectation is to have iwatch equivalent display that is readily readable in the dark, you will be disappointed. The screen works out in bright light but not in the gym or indoors. It was a deal breaker for me and I returned it.
