I was also curious about hiking. Apparently the programmers left it out of the entire Garmin line!! I have a very old 301 and it does it! What is up with their programmers? No workout except running will be accurate so if you want accuracy keep looking! Garmin can't do it!

It loses about 4-5 minutes per month. For the price of the watch is should not lose time. Also, it is just too complicated to use and is much heavier than I expected. I would not recommend anyone buy.

Defective unit

No Green LED lights, thus no HR readings. Everything else works great but without HR data, it is junk. Disappointing.
