Bad app and native abilities
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. How is it this company has such poor native abilities. Four tries on these watches and each one had issues from battery drain, to a compass that can’t point to the correct direction! Off by 40-60 degrees, one Watch was 180 degrees off. Apps made by third parties proved poor at best! Half the time they failed to open, other times they failed to work as intended. Why bother making a watch and leave it open to faults of third party developers. Bought a traverse Alpha and haven’t looked back!

Excellent upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks and feels more premium than previous Fenix watches. More flush with the wrist. Strap is a bit smaller, softer, and more flexible but still feels good on the wrist. Easier to manage apps with the slight exception of when you want to reorder what activities you do, the watch will sync, but it will not put them in the order you selected. Minor. For me the big plus so far is that the heart rate monitor appears more stable and more accurate than previous models. Here is the thing, if you can swing the 599, I would, without question, get this watch. Especially if you like to take seriously your stats and want them to be the most accurate. I have tried many competitors, and you all know the ones I am talking about, but Garmin is unquestionably slowly but surely dominating. This unit is completely worth it - so far.

It’s bad… really bad
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GPS is off and doesn’t track routes I have run properly… Heart rate monitor is incorrect as well. The watch is cumbersome and difficult to navigate. I would give the watch away tomorrow and hate that I’ve wasted my money.

Awesome watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still working like day 1... off course the battery last less time but I've used it under all weather conditions. I highly recommend it. Just started saving for the latest one

Excellent watch with little flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the watch for over 3 months now, I was an Apple Watch 2 user. It took me like 2 weeks to get used to the all the features compared with my Apple Watch. It's a great watch with excellent battery life last 10-14 days without any issue. I took it out hiking, trail running and at the gym, I really like the 47mm watch size compare with my old Garmin Fenix 3 HR or new Fenix 5X 51mm. The only complaint I have is the short Bluetooth and poor Ant+ connection with my others Garmin ANT+ accessories. I hope they will release a firmware update to address these issues like they did on Fenix 3 HR.

I step above the Fenix 5X
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Fenix 5X, black slate stainless steel. The challenge was every time I would bump it; it would scratch the black of the stainless. I love the features which are the same as the Fenix 5X and the Fenix 5 is stainless steal without color. It is a little smaller that the 5x however, no scratches yet.

Great watch but not accurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful design and great ideas but terribly inaccurate in sleep, heart rate and workouts. Sleep will only track 1 per day and it will be wrong. I like the always on display and the long battery life. It disconnects and reconnects frequently even if I'm sitting right next to my phone. The bluetooth range is very short. If you get used to having incorrect data it is a great watch. Way too much money for all the inaccuracy. Cheaper watches work better as a fitness tracker.

Best GPS watch with abundance of features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this predominantly for run, bike and swim, and this watch has really helped me to get motivated. The stats really help to bring in improvements. Excellent battery life and reliable data.

As a Heart Rate monitor it lacks in many areas
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GPS tracking for this device is very good. It is simple to use, start and stop. The tracking was everything I hoped for when I upgraded from my 4-year-old VivoActive HR. That is where the positive stops. The wrist-based HR is awful. Not just poor, but awful. The wrist-based on the Vivo was much more accurate. It is so far off that it makes the watch virtually useless. I wanted to wear my chest strap I wouldn't have spent $400 on this. I am a Garmin user of many products including my 820 on my bike and previous forerunner. I am very disappointed and do not recommend anyone buy it.
