I bought this for my son as a gift, and he hasn't stopped talking about it yet. He's into fitness, and he runs several miles a day. This watch allows him to use real maps so that he can plan his routes, it collects health data to optimize his workout, and it has a battery that lasts forever. Overall, a pricey investment, but well worth it!

I own numerous Garmin products. This by far has been my best purchase. I previously owned a VivioactiveHR only because I was hesitant to purchase this one at 3X the price. Wish it had the touch screen but completely satisfied with my watch. Haven't begun to tap into it's potential!. Read the reviews and couldn't be happier with it !

This watch has a lot of features and will track just about everything. I had it for 3 or 4 days and I ended up exchanging it for the ionic. Nothing against the watch. It was just more than I needed.

I upgraded from the Garmin vivoactive HR. My first impression was the weight! After wearing for a few weeks, it's not even noticeable. Have used it for road and trail runs, road and mountain bike rides, and has worked as advertised. Nice upgrade especially with the maps.

I have owned many smart watches (android side only) The biggest flaw has always been battery life. Recharging every day was simply to much of a hassle, so I gave up cool apps and a brightly colored screen for the Fenix. It goes weeks on one charge, provides the same notifications and looks great. Screen is not fancy, apps are non-existent, and it still wont show me calendar notifications, but I can wear it 24/7, swim/shower and never worry it will be dead by morning.

This watch is so full of functions for the sports enthusiast or serious athlete that I cannot think of a sport activity it is not capable of measuring and give useful feedback for. It also connects very well with my IPhone and provides all the functions I need and want. Very happy with my purchase.

If you are into fitness, this is the primeir training partner. I tried many of the others and they each have their own strengths, but Garmin has it all together. Love the Sapphire face as it is strong allowing it to be worn everywhere. Couple this with a Tri or HRM chest strap and you have a great combo.

I purchased this for my husband and he absolutely loves it. The battery life is AMAZING. He goes all week without needing to charge it. The display is nice, notifications come through with very little delay. I was able to get it on sale and am so happy I did.

I purchased this watch after doing a lot of research. While other watches, such as the Apple Watch, are great, I needed something super durable. I also needed mapping and a compass for my line of work. This watch has it all. It is a great tool. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking.

I love this watch! Bought mostly because of heart rate monitoring capability but offers so much more. I like the fit and finish and the battery life is amazing. I can go 10 days between charges. I've barely tapped into all the capabilities. I highly recommend. Integrates nicely with my iPhone as well.

The Fenix 5 meets all my expectations and I love he battery life! It works great with Humana's Go365 app and I get maximum points for my workouts that are shared with the site. I like how the Garmin Connect app integrates with other apps to give me an overall indIcation of my health and fitness goals.

I love the ability to assign the apps and the order they are presented when cycling through the screens. The battery life is really good for daily use. It does drain faster when the GPS is on. A bit on the expensive side but if you do a lot of outdoors or fitness activities, this watch is for you.

Watch is accurate on heart rate, distance and elevation. Tracks a number of fitness activities very accurately. Does a decent job monitoring stress level and sleep patterns. Comfortable when active. Very good battery life for such a big and bright display. Easy integration with App.

I have used a lot of activity tracker, fitness tracker, performance watches and this watch is simply the best out there, I should also say it is the most expensive one I ever had, but is worth every penny if you can afford it. You definitely will not regret it. Further details will be provided later.

This thing is awesome. Built mainly for the folks that work out all the time and like to track and share their efforts and accomplishments. That isn't me- maybe some day. While those built in exercise functions with integrated GPS are handy- what makes this standout is that you don't need your darn phone with you while you are doing your activity! It'll sync to your phone when you get back! The watch does all the work. If buying this as an exercise tool, you may not need this crazy of watch if you keep your phone at your side for everything. What I love of this Fenix 5x is the built in Heart Rate sensor, the GPS, and the barometer /altimeter- all those, combined with its open source coding means all kinds of Apps and Widgets are available and are actively being developed for all types of info and displays! Awesome! There are downsides though- the step counter for walking / running depends on natural arm movement, so if you are pushing a stroller with your arm with the watch during a walk, the steps won't count but the GPS and distance will. Overall, it is a great fitness tool, a fantastic info platform, and the Garmin app is pretty good too. If you have the means and interest, I'd highly recommend it.

I had a Samsung smartwatch, after I used to have a Fenix 2. I had that for a year or so, but just never got the use out if it that I did from the Fenix 2. I use it for fitness, hiking, etc. So, I went back to the Garmin Fenix 5x and will not look back. I absolutely love it.

    Excellent Semi-Smart GPS/Fitness Tracker

The Garmin Fenix 5x has been a great upgrade from my previous Forerunner 235. I most enjoy the flat back on the watch for the wrist HR monitor compared to other Garmin models with a raised (nippled) sensor which applies an unnecessary pressure point during wear. The larger screen is excellent with the addition of the Maps feature during activities. Having the option of the watch quickly calculating a running/activity route which will return to the starting point makes planning workouts effortless. The semi-smart capabilities are the right amount of allowing notifications from a phone while limiting the amount of response possibilities helping limit the feeling of always being tired down to a phone. And most importantly....the 16 GB of memory is perfect for music and Bluetooth to wireless earbuds during workouts, allowing to leave my phone at home!
