    Works like it should!

This watch works well! Complaints about time it takes to "find satelite" are vaild, BUT, it's only a minute or so AND ... come on ... it's a device strapped to your wrist finding multiple satelites in space. Let's be real. I have used it several times so far, including a 10k trail race through dense forest. Never missed a beat. Very accurate. Garmin's on-line data storage is very well sorted.

This watch is useful for more than running. I use it while biking and hiking, too, and I am able to monitor my speed and progress. I'm very pleased with seeing the minutes/lap and the calories burned, or clocking the distances I've walked. It's a lot cooler than a pedometer. You get access to Garmin Connect, where you can upload the data from your watch and it will track your history, show maps and graphs, etc. The watch recharges through USB, so no need to replace batteries. I recommend turning it off overnight or when not in use to conserve the battery power, because having it die halfway through your exercise routine isn't very helpful. (This happened once because I left it on for days in a row without recharging.) The only downfall is sometimes it takes a while to access satellites and either you start your lap without it being tracked by GPS or you just stand there and wait.

    Display hard to read.

Easy to set up. Works great. My only complaint is that the display is cheap. The photo in the advertisement above shows the numbers to be crisp and dark. This is not true in real life. I can't read the display while I am running. Returned for a TomTom only because the TomTom has a better display.

Bought this for my Dad, who is an avid runner. He loves the size of the watch face and says it holds a good charge.

Fifteen Minutes to Get a GPS Signal

I purchased this watch this morning - and returned it this evening. I had read such great reviews about this watch, including reviews from people who are from New York City. Well, I'm not sure what part of NYC they were from, but I had the hardest time finding a GPS signal. Upon initial set-up, I had to stand at the window of my office for 15 minutes before it could pick up the GPS signal to set the clock. Even after that, I decided to try it as I walked from my office to the bus. I tried to get a signal from the time I stepped outside -- until the time I reached the front door of Best Buy, 15 minutes later. That is completely unacceptable. I'll try my luck with another watch at another time. For now, my phone's GPS will suffice.
