    Easy to use, non-touchscreen watch

Super great and durable product. I like that it isn't touchscreen actually. I've only had one instance where it misreported my steps and otherwise really enjoyed it. It's kind of just small enough to fit my wrist so if you have an unusually small wrist you may want to try on before buying. Love the ease of use and simplicity.

Love it. So simple and easy to use. Records all of the information I need. This watch rarely needs to be charged (about once a week or so). Love that the screen illuminates from the reflection on the sun, so the brighter the environment the clearer the screen display is. Very cool feature that drastically reduces battery use.

Functionality is awesome...band is a menace

I purchased the watch in the fall of 2020 and I love it. However... after about a year of wearing the watch I noticed that the thumb side of my wrist starting to itch and turn red. I took the watch off and cleaned it with soap and a soft toothbrush then put it back on. The itching got worse and my wrist started to look and feel blistered. I cleaned the watch again with alcohol, then peroxide, then vinegar. No change. Blistering got worse, I stopped wearing lotion and body oil. No change. So I finally just stopped wearing the watch. I reached out to Garmin online and was told to contact customer service via telephone. I did so. Spoke to a very nice gal, Sierra, who took my information and sent me to another customer service agent, Debbie, who I can only assume offices in the bowels of the Garmin headquarters far below the sunshine. Debbie asks me to send pics of my wrist and the watch to her. I complied... and wouldn't you know it, all this is my fault! The part of the band that I told Debbie looks like a coating had worn off was actually "residue" to her discerning customer service eyes. And as it turns out, I was wearing the watch incorrectly! She so observantly pointed out to me that it was clear I was wearing the watch too tightly as you could see the indentions on my wrist..... having not worn the watch for several days I was surprised to hear this but, she's the professional, yes? After listening to Debbie explain to me how to properly wear and clean the watch as if I were a toddler with an expensive toy, I asked her to forgo the remainder of her well rehearsed lecture and just let me know If this was something she was going to be able to help me with or not. It was then that Debbie told me that despite my complete incompetence she would benevolently send me another watch band, along with another copy of the care instructions that I followed the first time. Of note: I had the feeling Debbie had taken a call like mine before so I asked her "I'm guessing you guys have had this issue before", to which she sardonically replied "yes.". Comforting to now I'm not the only schlemiel out here trying to navigate the intricacies of the modern wristwatch.

    Works as advertised

I have had the Forerunner 45 for a few months and to that end it works exactly as advertised. I saw other reviews where people have complained about the battery life, but for me this is not an issue because i charge it every night. If you are very serious about fitness I would recommend getting one of the higher end models, because they generally have better features. All in all for me this has been a great product.

    Good GPS, but disappointing otherwise.

I've had the 45 for 8 months. I bought it as an upgrade from my Vivosmart HR because the GPS was useless on it. The GPS on the 45 works very well and I can track my runs and walks easily now. But the 45 has other issues that are not as good as the Vivosmart HR. For one the battery runs out without notifying you. The Vivosmart HR gave me clear warnings. The 45 just shuts down and loses current data when it does. So get into the habit of recharging it on a schedule instead of waiting until it requires it. The battery has a shorter life than the Vivosmart HR as well (using the GPS). The display is also not as easy to see as the Vivosmart. This seems odd to me as the face of the 45 is so large you would think Garmin would make good use of it, but they don't. The last thing I will say is that this device like all Garmin smart watches does not have an instruction manual and calling their support is not a substitute for a lack of it. I hope they work to improve their devices in the future. Hope springs eternal.
