It's the be all end all for smart watches
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK... I had the Garmin vivoactive HR great watch. Did thr job for a couple years. The step measurement was always a bit short, and the sleep tracker was meh.. But it was a great system, lasted 5 to 6 days. But I went swimming with it, and it suffered an "unrecoverable failure". So I started researching and came down on the Garmin (yeah I trust the name) Vivoactive 3 and the Instinct. Chose the instinct because it seems tougher. Light weight, durable have had it on my wrist for a week and it's awesome. I needed a way to respond to texts without grabbing the phone (for meetings etc) Been using for 5 days.. Only lost a bar in the battery.. (I despise a smart watch you have to recharge every night.. Because frequently I'm not near my charger for a couple days. Yes.. It is not connectable to the Garmin IQ... It doesn't store music or have the Garmin pay stuff.. It's a tough workhorse watch. That looks good. To be honest the cute colored watch faces were nice (this is monochrome) but I need a watch that works in the rough environment I work in. Easy to read quick to learn the operations... It's a time piece not a wrist toy. There are 6 faces you can have. The standard black with white digital gives you, time with seconds , date, steps, sunrise sunset. A couple of button pushes brings up an accurate compass, altimeter, alternate time, weather, events messages and heart rate... You cans set it up anyway you want. Its not touch screen so ya gotta work the buttons, but it feels and looks great. Looks like a real watch.

Excellent sports and outdoors watch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best watch for the money. I prefer function over appearance or fancy screens. The disply on the watch reminds me of a low-def Ti calculator screen, which I think is cool. Tou can text, email, make calls, etc. But that isnt really why I got this watch. I love the HR monitor, one of the most accurate wrist-based HRs out there. However, you can still pair this with a chest strap HR via bluetooth or ANT+. The other reason why I got this is because this also has an accurate GPS to track running and hiking on trails with a topographic map. It also has many exercise options with different training intervals and intensity cues. This watch is also rugged, and has impact, dust amd water resistant ratings that are among the best. Nothing fancy about thia watch. It just works.

A Good Slap On and Go Watch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With a battery life of 12 days in gps mode, this watch is all I needed. It shows me notifications and tells me the time while also being rugged enough to take a hit or two. Great basic smart watch with insane battery life so I don't have to worry about charging it.

Best Fitness Watch I've Ever Owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just wanted a fitness tracking watch and boy did I get it. Pros 1. (Most important) this watch is ready to go out of the box. There is an app but you don't have to sync this to a smartphone to get full use. I don't want big tech controlling my health data 2. Display is crystal clear in direct sunlight 3. Heart rate is accurate 4. Workout mode is awesome, with clear HR target zones, audible and vibrate cues for lap times and amazing workout summary 5. It looks great and seems to be very rugged and durable 6. GPS syncing is accurate and keeps time adjusted 7. Battery charge goes for days (although I think it's shortened if you sync to a phone and get pushed messages, notifications etc) 8. Barometer and altimeter at this price point are nice bonuses. Cons 1. Uses a special charge cable. Mini USB would have been great since I have them everywhere 2. GPS mapping looks good but isn't overlaid with a geographical map. I really didn't expect this anyway for the $200 price point. It does give you coordinate stamps so that's nice. I can't recommend this watch enough. I'll never own one that isn't Garmin after this.

Loving the watch, but it has some cons
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the Garmin Instinct Rugged Outdoor Watch with GPS (Model 010-02064-00) for about a month now, and I'm really impressed with it. It's a great watch for anyone who loves the outdoors, whether you're a hiker, camper, or just someone who likes to be active. The Instinct is built to last. It's made with a durable polymer case and a scratch-resistant display, and it's water-resistant to 100 meters. It also meets U.S. Military Standard 810G for thermal, shock, and water resistance. The Instinct has a built-in GPS, so you can track your runs, hikes, and other activities. It also has a heart rate monitor, so you can track your fitness levels. And it has a variety of other features, including a compass, altimeter, barometer, and weather forecast. I've been using the Instinct for a variety of activities, and it's been great. It's accurate, easy to use, and it's very durable. I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great outdoor watch. Here are some of the pros and cons of the Garmin Instinct Rugged Outdoor Watch with GPS (Model 010-02064-00): Pros: Rugged and durable Built-in GPS Heart rate monitor Compass, altimeter, barometer, and weather forecast Long battery life Cons: The display is not as bright as some other watches The watch can be a bit bulky for some people The watch is not as stylish as some other watches Overall, I think the Garmin Instinct Rugged Outdoor Watch with GPS (Model 010-02064-00) is a great watch for anyone who loves the outdoors. It's rugged, durable, and has a variety of features that make it perfect for tracking your activities.

Exactly what I was looking for
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do a lot of hiking/camping, general outdoors type of stuff. I‘be never been a huge “watch guy”. I’ve owned a couple over the years but never actually set out to intentionally to get one. Until now. I knew I wanted something with ABC, weather, and tracking abilities. It also was gonna need to take a beating. You get all that plus a ton more. It’s pretty rugged. I’ve already put it through it’s paces and it’s held up nicely. No scratches to speak of and the screen has taken a couple direct hits. There are a ton of personalization abilities throughout the screen options. It’s easy to maneuver through the settings as well. I didn’t set out for a smart watch but I’m finding the ability to glance down to see what just came through, be it email or text, etc, is a nice feature I never knew I’d enjoy. No you cannot answer messages directly from the watch but again, that’s not what I want in a watch. Again, not really being a big watch guy, I find I leave this on day and night until it needs charging. I’m getting about 8-9 days out of a charge using the gos almost everyday to track hikes/walks. The app seems to work well and provides way more info than I’ll ever need but super cool at the same time, if that’s your thing. The face is kind of big but not ridiculous. I’ve seen way bigger. I like the simple layout of the screen as well, which as previously mentioned, is easily personalized to see what you want to see on each screen during use. There are a bunch of features I haven’t even gotten a chance to mess with yet. Overall it’s a pretty cut and dry watch. If you’re looking for a rugged, well thought out timepiece, with a ton of great and very user friendly features, this is probably for you. If you’re looking to keep up with the Joneses or want a small, thin watch to count steps, answer texts etc, get an Apple Watch. Great watch, even for a guy who doesn’t like watches.

GREAT Starter GPS Watch, Unbeatable price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: GPS, on-screen options for compass, pace and mileage tracking, Activity Tracking, heart rate, Smartphone features (call and message notifications, weather, music controls), Excellent battery life in smart watch mode, durable, waterproof, great for outdoor use, trail backtrack feature, compatibility with garmin connect and map apps. CONS: Very large face, black and white display I REALLY wish this had a color display, but this was the first GPS watch I was buying, and the price was unbeatable, so I decided to go for it. Aside from that, I love this watch. The controls did take a bit of getting used, as it is not a touch screen like my previous smart watch, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to use. I love that it has the most important features to me in a smart watch (notifications/calls/music controls/weather/time), but also has awesome GPS and activity tracking features. I use this watch for horseback riding, mileage and pace tracking on trail rides and on competitive rides. I was able to purchase a band in my preferred color from the garmin website. While in smartwatch mode, the battery lasts forever! My previous smartwatch had to be charged every couple of days. I only have to charge once every 10 days or so, except when I'm using the GPS, and understandably, it does need charged much more frequently when GPS is on. If you're looking for a starter GPS watch that's a great price and has great features, and are willing to try a black and white display, I'd definitely recommend this watch!

Excellent quality, reliability, and battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I got tired of dealing with syncing issues with another brand of smart/fitness tracking watch and decided to research other options. I was very impressed with the ruggedness of this watch but had no idea how happy I would be with the purchase. I am barely scratching the surface of its capability so I will in no way provide a complete review. I can say that it has exceeded my expectations so far. First, I have had absolutely no syncing issues with this watch! The Garmin Connect app just works flawlessly! The synchronization with the other name brand smart/fitness watch I owned before was hit and miss and often frustrating to deal with. Not with this watch! Even the notifications of phone calls, text messages, and new emails works flawlessly. Second, the battery is lasting much longer than I expected even with limited GPS usage. I was expecting to recharge it daily but it just keeps going and going for weeks at a time without the need to recharge. Also, the battery status indicator is easy to read on the main display so you always can tell what the remaining charge is. Third, the features are more than adequate for my needs. I like to hike and work out and this watch easily captures the data I need. The app provides a very visual and easy to understand interface for my heart rate, steps, calories burned, sleep, and stress. Of course, it syncs with my companies health tracking application (which happens to be Virgin Pulse). I played a little with customization and picked what I thought I would use the most but there is so much more for me to explore. I like the weather, compass, and barometer features but have yet to really use them for anything meaningful. Fourth, the watch is truly rugged. I used to take my previous watch off when I was working in my garage to avoid damage to the extremely exposed glass surface. This watch is wrapped in a protective plastic with a recessed glass screen. I have accidentally banged it, scraped it, and rubbed it against a variety of surfaces with no visible damage. Of course, if I am planning to work with oils or solvents I remove it to prevent damage, but other than that is has endured beatings from regular use unscathed. Finally, it just looks great (as a sport watch not a dress watch). It is not too big and yet is easy to read. I gave up the color scree switching from my previous smart/fitness watch but that is completely irrelevant and unnecessary. In fact, I like the contrast of the black and white display better anyway. For my purposes, I cannot be more pleased with this purchase.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my boyfriend recently and he loves it. It has all the bells and whistles he was looking for lol. It has all the “programs” that are required for his line of work, and is extremely useful in his day to day life. Beautiful, slick design, super light weight and great battery life. Really durable as well, it holds up great when he’s out and about. Would highly recommend!

Perfect smartwatch for active people
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the ideal smartwatch for someone who is active and doesn't care to make calls or play games on their watch. Activity tracking works great for hiking, mountain biking, running, etc. and battery life is fantastic. If I am not using GPS functions I can go around 2 weeks without charging, if I'm doing several 1+ hour activities using GPS (mountain biking, etc.) then I charge it once a week. I was expecting to have to replace the band due to durability or comfort issues, but it is in great shape after over a year of daily wear and is super comfortable.

Great buy
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this watch!!! Finally just what I want. Unfortunately its not that fancy where you can use Google pay like that but I don't mind. I'm a bit rough and anything I wear on my wrist gets beaten alot and so far a few months of hard labor and this watch still looks brand new. Has plenty of ways to track many activities. I paired it with the garmin app and also strava works excellent. Pretty close to accurate but tracks my walk, run, stress, sleep and more. Great GPS and compass in many locations mountain, dessert, ocean and other countries. I love it so much I waited for it to go on sale and grab em for my husband too so we can track our activities together. Oh and the battery life is great!!! Depending on how intensive your activities are I only like charge it like once a week. I love it and recommend this to anyone one I know who wants a strong sturdy watch not fancy but does most of the job and does it well.

Awesome watch, longest battery life ever
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Garmin watch and I love it. Hands down, this has the longest battery life of any other watch brands. It does exactly what you need: time, notifications, bio sensory tracking, GPS, and workout tracking. Does it have a million apps, NO, and you don't need it because the functions it comes with is TOP notch. I really like the simplicity of the black/white screen and really tough. I work out at the gym, do yard work with lots of dirt, swim in the beach, shower, and just generally not having worry about any scratches which after almost TWO years, it still looks great.

Durable fitness focused device.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several fitness smart watches, and found they wore out easily through normal use (strength training, running, hiking, gardening) I was suggested that maybe my fitbit ionic had a failed screen after 1.3 years because I got particles in it gardening!? anyway this hits all the marks for me. Fitness tracking, custom data outputs if I want (I don't want to see this, only show me that ect) 15 day battery life is a great perk. Gave up a color display for that and 100% fine with that trade. I wasn't interested in texting or calling. I do use the text notification. I did a bench mark run that I had done on other devices, and the gps was better. Previous devices showed my speed being very up and down (with machine like consistency?) much more accurate from what I can tell, because I don't keep pace perfect, but I don't run in a constant speed up and slow down. Yeah I like this product. It's tough feeling durability wise, and no performance issues. Software takes some focus to follow instructions for customization, but if you want features that's how they happen.

Terrific watch for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch to replace three current watches, my Garmin 225, which is still perfectly good, my Seiko chronograph, which was my everyday wear and a Casio, that I used for traveling. I charged and got this watch going rather quickly and the charge does last for 2 weeks. I received an email explaining how to do this, but there was also a link to a Youtube tutorial which is about 24 minutes long that explains almost anything one needs to know about using this watch. I took it out for its first run a couple of days ago and the GPS is accurate. It works with the Garmin Connect app and records so much more information than my 225. Later that night, I got into a fight with a methhead (I'm in LE) and the watch made it through without a scratch. I have been looking at smart watches for over a year now and looked at more expensive watches, but I don't think one can beat the price and features of this one.
