After 6 months battery life has fallen from 15 days to 3 days. Frustrating for a $ 200 watch. Will not buy Garmin ever again !

Tough Watch - Great Battery Life

    Posted .

I find this watch is more accurate at fitness numbers, can take a beating with no sign of wear, and has a battery life of 7-10 days (even with using some of the advanced features). It does have a very limited display with is controlled via the watch itself. But it has all I need and more and doesn't feel like it will die within the 6 months to 1 year other manufactures have.

NOT for swimming, but long battery life.

    Posted .

I bought this because the Forerunner doesn't track swimming. Very disappointed that Garmin is dishonestly marketing this watch's swim capabilities. The Forerunner tracked heart rate in the water but no distance. This watch supposedly tracks distance but doesn't track heart rate in the water. The distance tracker is horrible, period. It doesn't work at all for kickboard work or anything where you don't move your arms, such as you'd do in many isolation workouts. This is basically a monochrome vivoactive with a g-force look, minus the kicking capabilities. The battery lasts well over a week, which is cool, but since I bought it for swim trackng its a real dissappointment. The Forerunner and Vivoactive have color UI with the ability to customize with ConnectIQ, this watch has only basic customization options. The look is more military than the others and it takes a lot of time to get used to the menu buttons. The Vivoactive touch screen is much nicer and easier to use. So if you want to get dirty, like a military looking watch, don't want to charge a lot and don't swim, this watch is fine. The hiking GPS looks cool but thankfully I haven't been lost and had to rely on it, If you want to make your iwatch friends jealous with cool watch faces and don't mind charging a lot, I'd get the other options.

One of the best smartwatches out there. Awesome battery life (I recharge it every 10 days and I still have about >60% battery left), and the garmin connect app is great to keep track of all your activities. I have set it up to display messages, email notifications and calendar events from my android phone. The strap cold be better though -- if you sweat a lot and if your strap is touching tightly to the skin, it might cause you some rash. I keep it slightly loose now.

    Great Fitness Watch Overall

I own a Garmin Forerunner 220, which finally died on Wednesday Night. I used it for tracking HR, intervals, and keeping tabs at outdoor competitive running events. So, I needed something that could do similar. While I could easily afford a Forerunner 245 (at Black Friday prices), I needed something I didn't have to wait for, so after some brief research (here and on the Garmin website to make sure this could do everything I needed), I pulled the trigger on the Instinct. After using it for a few days, I'm glad I did. It is actually a major upgrade from my Forerunner. It has much more battery life than my old Forerunner, does everything I need to do (like hr alert so I don't go too high on workouts), and has extra features I will be exploring later. The only downside from my perspective? The screen is too small for me to see (I wear glasses that I take off while working out). The workaround for me is to intently listen to the alerts emanating from the watch, and wait until I can download my tracked workout results to my home computer so I can see them on Garmin Connect. Also, it doesn't automatically connect to my external hrm (I wear a chest strap), but I can simply just get it to pair up prior to doing a workout, so it's also not a big deal either, just different. Pro tip: make sure you disable the internal hrm if don't use it like I do. Otherwise, it may use it if your chest hrm loses contact with your body (and skews your hr readings, as wrist hrm's are not as accurate as the chest ones are),

Worked great for almost two months, but now has failed beyond repair. The adhesive holding the battery in on the bottom has plainly failed. What a waste of money.

Got this on sale right before Thanksgiving. Very light weight. Silicone band is Very flexible. Navigation is kind of a pain, but it does quit a bit for the price. ($160) Several different screen can be applied. GPS is fairly accurate compared to my Foretrex 601. Pairing to phone is very easy. No issues so far with answering calls and texting. Battery life is great so far. Overall Happy with purchase.

This is my favorite watch. I’ve owned an Apple Watch like most others but I hated it. I felt like I had to constantly be on the lookout to make sure I wouldn’t break it when I’m working or just doing normal daily activities. The instinct feels good on the wrist. It’s rugged and simplistic, but has many features. There are plenty of different fitness activities it can track that you may not find on others. One of my favorite things about this watch is that it actually has buttons. Battery life is amazing! I don’t have to charge it daily and I love that. You can also connect it to your phone via Bluetooth and read messages and emails or other notifications. The only thing I don’t like too much is the Garmin Connect app. I feel like it takes quite a while to upload your activities and sync with the app.

Great watch, battery lasts forever it seems, watch is light and band is so soft and comfortable. I use white background and black letters, numbers and graph, easier to see. If used to Casio g shock buttons it takes a day or so to figure out buttons etc.

I got this watch as a Christmas present for my fiancée. He’s been wearing it for a few weeks now. The battery life is amazing. He’s a welder and it’s holding up great. It’s also super cool how the watch has an alarm. Plus it hooks up to his Garmin tracking system for his dogs which I know he loves. All around a wonderful watch and worth the money.
