Nice, but not for me

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My Samsung Gear Fit 2 stopped working, so I decided to move to a smart watch. My daughter recommended the Garmin Venu. It is a nice watch and has more features than I need. However, I returned it after a few days. There were three things that bothered me about it: 1. There seemed to be a lag between completing an activity and the watch recording it. 2. Stairs were not counted correctly. I think this is a problem with all the fitness devices, but the Venu has an app you can press to explicitly count stairs and it is still wrong. 3. The thing that just drove me nuts though is that when I tapped the walk app, it would say "acquiring GPS" and I would stand out in the cold, waiting and waiting for the watch to be ready. After returning the Venu, I bought a Samsung Active 2. I'm happy with the Active 2, but that is the subject for another review!

Posted .I'm sorry you weren't happy with the Venu. The watch records the data as soon as you press Start and will stop the recording as soon as you press Stop. You will need to select the Save option and let the device process the data. It will then sync to your account using Bluetooth if you have it paired with your phone or using Garmin Express on your computer. If you wanted to record the walk it would need to acquire GPS just like recording a run or bike. Be sure you are standing in the open and not under and trees or close to any tall buildings as that could block the signal when trying to acquire. We also offer support at support.garmin.com where you'll find many helpful FAQ's and video's concerning the device and you may also reach out directly to a support specialist from that link if you still need assistance.

This synced with my iPhone and is very consistent in receiving notifications. I am also notified of incoming phone calls so I can see who is calling at a glance. Very nice, fits my wrist, and wears comfortably. No negatives at this time.

The biggest reason was that it was only getting about two days before needing a recharge even without using it for activities. It advertises a shorter battery life but that was too short. This was a replacement for a Vivoactive 3 that would get about 8 days to a charge. For me, because I travel a fair amount, it's important to not have to drag a charging cord with me. The other disappointment was Garmin Pay which was one reason I bought it. After looking into it, the adoption by major banks is really low right now so there were no decent options for me to use it. Not a bad looking watch and good functionality but I jumped ship for a Vivoactive 4 which seems to sip battery slowly like my 3 did so I am happy with that. No problem with the return though. Very happy with the customer service at Best Buy.

The health app is also is excellent and accurate and reviews your activites in full detail.The initial set up is easy and is very user friendly. The only feature it dose not have is a voice assistance.

This watch has exceeded my expectations and I haven’t even used it to its full capacity yet! Bluetooth sync to headphones was a breeze and I am not even using an expensive brand. Perfect for what I needed it for and more.
