This is my first fitness activity device. I am pleased with the battery life which is more than advertised battery life. Even after 7 days, I still have 42% battery left. Even When I used with GPS (2 hrs/day), it lasted for 8 days. Accurately tracks Heart-rate, water resistance. Shows alerts from smart phone. I would recommend this product.

It’s an amazing watch does everything I’m looking for. The battery life is tremendous. It will last about 9 Days without charging. The only feature that’s not available is talking thru Bluetooth. You can only answer or decline the call.

Got this because it has HRM. It replaces my garmin VivoActive which was fine to begin with. PLUS its waterproof. I've taken it to the beach many times, I shower with it and sleep with it on. The only "problem" I have had is trying "To improve accuracy"> I have not tried to in a while. I don't know how accurate it is tracking steps and counting calories.

I have this watch on most of my active time and even sleep. Good GPS for walks, runs, bike rides. HR is best for reviewing and works pretty good. Slightly lower readings than chest HR device I used to wear, but still close. Fits comfortably during all workouts.

Screen could be brighter but that would eat into the battery. It's not that bad as many reviews would have you believe. I bought for golf function and it works as advertised. You can't load 30000 courses at once so there's a little bit of downloading but I'm getting the hang of it. I like the bike function as well as the paddle (kayak ) function The heart rate function seems fine. I came from a Fitbit Flex and this does everything that does and much more.

I've worn a Garmin vivoactive HR for over a year with no problems. I think the Garmin interface is one of the best. I've been waiting for an opportunity to buy the vivoactive HR Smartwatch. Thanks for the great price Best Buy!

This watch has plenty of options to make the price worth it. It does take a bit to get used to the heart rate monitor that kind of digs into your wrist but after a bit you don't even notice. it is truly waterproof one of the main reasons i bought it and the gps works quite good... I rated it 4 stars because it is a little uncomfortable at first and isn't to stylish but serves every propose I intend to use it for...

Great battery and data tracking, I wanted to to find one that tracked heart rate, GPS and different fitness activities. It has done a great job! It even does a great job with indoor treadmill tracking. I was a little surprised at how dim the display is compared to modern phone screens, but I quickly got used to it and it does a fantastic job outside because the screen technology is backlit by the sun and very bright. Most of your screen time is on your phone anyway when you are viewing your synced data. Anyway I highly recommend this device.

This watch is excellent for activity tracking and basic sports tracking - HR, calories, time in zones, run pace, strength training, indoor cycling, indoor rowing. If you are a runner just interested in tracking HR, pace and time then this watch is for you. FYI - It does not let you set-up workouts like the other Garmin run watches. The swimming function is not that great, even the app I downloaded for swimming doesn't really work.

The number one thing about this watch is the battery life. I can go up to a week and a half before recharging and even then the watch still has about 30-40% left. It allows personalized setting when you download different watchfaces from connect. It even has weather info. The one downside is that you have to touch the watch face to get it to brighten at night and sometimes the sensitivity is rough to do that.

Purchased this for mom last year and it has been terrific! I ended up buying one for myself too. The Garmin Vivoactive HR does a terrific job of recording daily activities (sleep, steps, HR, etc.) as well as allowing you to select specific activities and record your time (and effort) with those. Garmin Connect app allows you to see your metrics from the last several weeks as well. The band is silicone and did irritate my mom's wrist so we had to get a replacement but otherwise generally a great product!

I purchased this as a replacement for my Microsoft Band 2 which was an excellent device, done in by its poor hardware reliability (strap breakage, battery disconnects, replaced thankfully under warranty five times in the year that I owned it). The VivoActive HR gains three key improvements: much longer times between charging (10-days vs. daily), fully waterproof, and a more comfortable strap.
Where the VivoActive HR is a step back from the Band 2 for me is strength training. With the Band 2, I was able to create or select pre-made workouts from Gold's Gym and it would track me through each exercise and set. The pre-built "Strength" training on the VivoActive HR tracks the total duration and HR at most. No concepts of individual exercises or sets. It cycles through "Laps" and "Distance" for this activity for some reason which is pretty worthless. You can manually add the exercises, sets, and weight, but only after you're done and you have to manually re-add each exercise/set/weight EVERY time in the ConnectIQ app after you're done. You can install a 3rd-party app like GymGenius, but that's an additional fee (albeit cheap) for a $250 device. The oft complained about "dim screen" wasn't as much of an issue that I thought it would be, and the size compared to the Band 2 wasn't an issue for me either: I can still fit it under my dress shirt sleeves.
Still, the benefits far out weigh any negatives and I'm very happy with this device.

Pedometer is not accurate, but counting steps for riding in a truck is always fun. GPS and all other functions work as expected. Can’t go wrong for the price

I've been a fitbit user and switched to the Garmen and I am glad I did. The problem with the fitbit equivalent was the band was uncomfortable and it broke within a couple months. The garmen is a great upgrade and I like the HR feature aling with GPS tracking, cause I get lost in my own backyard. If you're into hiking, this watch is great. Not only does it give you your altitude reading but also you oxygen levels based on location. I haven't tried this function underwater for accuracy, but will have to test it out when I go swimming. Lots of different widgets to use and also they have a feature to provide some inspiration or suggestions. Mine have been more suggestions and I haven't seen an inspiration quote since I activated the watch...I shouldn't read too much into that. Overall a great watch for the price and the battery last a good week to 13 days depending on what functions you use. Solid product garmen, just solid.

Best compromise between smartwatch and GPS watch

I have a Pebble (Work and around town). I have a Garmin Fenix for backcountry hiking and X-country sking. The Fenix is too bulky for daily use and lacks smartwatch functionality (The new Fenix has significantly improved the latter weakness). The vivoactive HR is small enough to wear daily, provides activity tracking, smartwatch functionality and dedicated GPS. It is half the cost of the Fenix. This is also a great bike computer with or without sensor pairing. More than adequate for pool laps. This is the only device on my wrist now.

I hemmed and hawed about buying a running watch...would research and think i decided and then see a bad review and just wait again. Finally pulled the trigger on this and think it is a great value for the average runner and now i don't have to bring my phone and once i am back to longer runs, i won't worry about a battery. It is a bit big and heavy, but I stuck with it for a week and now I don't notice it.
