Thanks for your reivew. The vivofit 3 is designed to track activity while walking and running we would not expect that it would track steps while swimming. The device is designed to pick up certain types of movement in order to track steps. The vivofit 3 does have the Move IQ feature that will track swim sessions and display them in your Garmin Connect account as Swim Events on your daily timeline. Lasted lest than a year

Did not buy Geek Squad protection, however still under a factory one year warranty. Will see how good it is. Expect Best Buy to refer me to factory. Bought another band this Christmas this time with two year Geek Squad protection plan. It was reasonable on the Fit Bit Alta compared to other bands.

In three weeks it stopped counting steps four times and had to be reset. Exchanged for the more expensive but much more reliable Fitbit Charge 2 that was on sale.

Thank you for reviewing the vivofit 3. We are sorry to see that your wife's device appeared to have stopped tracking steps. This is unusual and something that we would want to take a closer look at. The device module uses built-in acclerometers to track steps. If the arms are not moving in a natural walking or running motion the device will have difficultly tracking steps. After wearing it side by side with a Fitbit it was nearly 3000 steps lower once the Fitbit reached 10,000. Thus I returned it.
