Posted .Thank you for reviewing the vivofit 3. The wrist based activity trackers use internal accelerometers to determine movement. It will use your natural arm swing while walking or running to count steps during the day. The following FAQ link provides some more information on how the device counts steps: https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/z1TfJCqajl8ZEZey72gg98. Thank you again for your review. -JFH

Great watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it ! Keeps me motivated to reach my goal. Also shows how far I've walked, ran, or swam. Water proof ! Up to 3m. And also tracks my movement in my sleep !

Very good; small #s and needs light
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been wearing mine for about ten days now. The tracker is as expected and syncs quickly and with no problems. If you need reading glasses, the numbers might be a bit small if you have the digital clock face and your steps on the screen. I would like a backlight for the face so I could see the #s when it's dark.I have a very small wrist and the regular fit fine on the last hole. Garmin connect syncs wonderfully with the Weight Watchers app. I still use my Garmin Forerunner 15 for running though.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review your vivofit 3. We are glad to see that overall the device is working as expected for you. We do want to mention that the vivofit 3 does have a backlight. If you briefly press and hold the button on the device the backlight will come on for a couple of seconds. This will illuminate the screen, and hopefully allow you to see it easier in low light situations. If you have any questions about the device Customer Care would be glad to assist. Please contact us at www.garmin.com/support.

Better options out there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had major issues getting my vivofit 3 to sync with my Samsung Note 4 (and I'm a high-tech user). On average, it takes 3 tries to get the phone to actually register that the sync function was engaged. At least 3 times, I've had to unpair and repair the vivofit to get it to finally sync. Turning bluetooth off & back on doesn't seem to make any difference. I've worn it swimming once, and it detected it as walking. Paddling a kayak is also walking. Jogging (granted I'm pretty slow) is also walking. Sitting on the couch knitting counted as being active - I got my goal chime last night while watching TV! I'm not a fan of the lock knob, though I guess it's better than having the thing fall off. It hits at just the wrong place on me, and digs into my wrist when I'm at the computer (which is most of the time). Not having to charge the device was a selling point, but it doesn't out-weigh the problems with actual usage. I'd much rather put my device on the charger while I shower and have one that actually syncs when I tell it to.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding the vívofit 3. We’d like to address some concerns you’re having with the device detecting moment in the wrong times. Please visit the following link to get more information about how the movement detection works:

Because of you are having problems with the device mistaking movements for steps we recommend using the belt clip accessory. It’s a case that allows you to clip it on your person. The part number for this accessory is 010-12411-01.

No cloud sync- lost data
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device worked fine for the first week. However the band kept falling off. There was never a problem syncing the data to the app for the first seven days until the app crashed. After signing in again the app had problems syncing up and finally connected but all the data for the week was gone. The app is very nice except it is not designed to sync to the cloud. That’s a deal killer for me. The folks at Garmin thought of almost everything except how to back up your data and recover it. Most good apps these days will let you back up to at least two or a variety of cloud services.

Posted .Danspix,
Please feel free to email us at [email protected] for assistance. You sounds like when you signed back in that you signed into a second account. Garmin Connect does save all of your data and you will be able to look back at previous weeks (my account has information going back five years) whenever you would like.

Great for beginner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During my first time returning to working out and the gym, I purchased this to get me on my way. Its comfortable and love the fact that I can shower and swim with it.. Although I have a fit-bit now and cant wet it I must say that this will always be my favorite entry level device hands down!

Great fitness tracker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Garmin Vicodin 3 works well for tracking fitness and monitoring your sleep patterns. I only wish it would update to the app in real time without physically having to sync it.

Works okay, does not track other than steps
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok. Waterproof in shower, haven't tried swimming yet. But, it doesn't pick up cycling, like it said in advertising. So, I question if it will pick up swimming.

Not worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Granted that I've had this product since day one when it came out. Which has only been 4 days. Best Buy could have done a better job in educating their Associates on new products coming out. Especially on Fitness bands like these. This band is the same as previous Vivofit nothing grand about it. Syncing takes forever, not to mention that Bluetooth took a long time recognizing this product. The Band on this tracker feels very cheap unlike the previous of garmin products. Save yourself the money and buy a different product. The price is not justifiable. If you wear glasses pass on this band. It can be very hard to read the numbers.

Posted .Thank you for your review. On some vívofit 3s, the first sync may take longer than usual as a software update is being downloaded and installed to the vívofit 3. If receiving a time-out message while performing this process, please continue to try pairing as this will typically resolve the message.

Wildly inaccurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 2/15 will be returning 2/16. Step count is completely inaccurate if your arm is anywhere besides down at your side. It logged 8 steps when I took off my shirt. 40 steps while I washed my hair. 0 steps while i carried my work load to my vehicle.....about 200 yards. No other features that would deem this worth holding on to.
