Got this for a christmas present for my husband. I was told it would be compatible with my husband's android telephone. After reading instruction, we found out that the Model of Android that my husband has is not compatible with this watch. We took it back to Best Buy and had no problem returning it.

I got this to replace a Fitbit Charge HR. It is a great device. It has excellent 5 day battery life. It tracks steps, sleep, activity etc. It also gives notifications for texts, phone calls etc. It even has the weather forecast on your wrist. The heart rate monitoring is accurate and doesn't kill the battery as fast as the Fitbit. It syncs with Apple Health, My Fitness Pal and Rally Health. I am very pleased with it so far.

My first smart watch

I reviewed this product throughly before I made my purchase. I like that it is water proof. The watch itself it bulky. Plus the band broke after about five months. The sleep tracker is also a little confusing. I have never owned another smart watch so I can't actually compare it to any other brand. Idk if I would buy this brand again seeing as it has already broke? The battery stays charged for about four to five days at a time.

I am just getting back into working out to get in shape and I purchased the Fitbit charge 2 and was extremely disappointed. It counted hundreds of steps while I was sitting at the table. In 2 days i climbed probably 15 flights of stairs and it counted over 125. I exchanged the Fitbit for the Garmin and it is much more accurate. The cost is exactly where it should be for a unit that is good at everything but not great at anything. Also the push notifications are great. Better than most I have seen so far.

Best Activity Tracker

Only brand that you can swim in or not worry about getting wet. Would be rated 5 star if it could detect your steps in a pool, but it doesn't. You have to indicate your swim time as an activity to have it reflect as cardiovascular and calories burned.

... or a garmin approved AC adapter that is sold separately.
I own a Samsung tablet and a LG cell phone.
I cannot charge it because i do not have anything to charge it with. No where does it say you need either of these 2 things. Plus it is difficult to take off and put on. My daughter and I spent days researching & looking for the right activity tracker for me. It was all for naught. Will be returning it. I wish Garmin would of specified this in the device specs.

Firstl let me say I am a Garmin fanboy.
I have the.Fenix 3, the 620 watch and the original Vivosmart.
Across the board, I get comparable data - HR, calorie burn for the three devices noted. The Vivosmart is by far my favorite.
But I'm tired of wearing a strap and figured that I'd give the Vicosmart HR a shot. I've been trying wearables with built in HR monitors lately - Apple Watch, mIcrosoft Band and Band 2. I figure that Garmin would get it nailed since I've had nothing burst success with Garmin's strapped devices.
But it was not to be....
First the good.
Very comfortable, smart screen layout, larger text than the original VS, solid build.
The bad....
The Apple Watch produces results close to the Strapped Garmin devices.
The Band is by far the most unreliable because it's results have been wildly inconsistent - one day it shoots past the Vivosmart or Fenix, other day it drops way below.
The Vivosmart does have one thing going for it - consistency. It consistently produces results materially below the strapped garmin devices worn during the same workout.
Let me say that I'm no novice - I know how to rpfasten and place built in HR wearables to minimize light bleed. I've tried the VSHR facing in and out with the same results - hundreds of calorie burns lower than the regular VS, Fenix and Apple Watch.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the vívofit HR. First of all we’d like to thank you for your loyalty as a customer and love to hear that fact that you’re a fan. With that being said we do apologize about the latest experience with the vívofit HR. When reading your review (and as you said yourself) it appears that you are no stranger to this technology and understand it well. At this point there wouldn’t be any reason for me to reply with FAQ articles on increasing accuracy as you clearly understand how it works. Since this review has been released I can only hope you were able to update the software of the vívosmart HR as an update has been released since this review was posted. If you have updated the software and still experience any issues we ask that you contact our product support in the following link so they can discuss more in depth options for you. www.garmin.com/support Again, we do thank you for your time. ~JH

Broke after a year

Overall, when I first got it, I was very happy with it...it seems to work well and for those of us with big wrists, it was a blessing that Garmin made this extra large option. The watch band holder broke after about 6 months and Garmin replaced it no charge. About a month or two after my warranty ran out, the band broke (see pic). I contacted Garmin about it but since it's out of warranty, nothing could be done. It can be fixed/replaced for about 90.00 but after spending 150.00 for this when it was new, I'm not so sure I'd want to spend 90.00 to have it replaced when it's barely a year old.

Worthless as HR monitor

Doesn't read HR correctly 80% of the time during work out will be stuck at 48 take if off lay it on the desk it will read 150. You can tell by the categories they give you for recording your activities their not serious about being a fitness tracker. Activities like (Driving, Flying, RC droning). Should have stuck with FitBit Charge 2 it worked. This only gets 1 star because they don't allow negative ratings.
