I use it basically just to keep track of my number of steps per day. It motivates me to do a little more if I am close to my daily goal. However it does not tell the heart rate. This is not important to me as I had a tracker for two years that did tell heart rate so I know about what level of activity keeps my heart rate at a certain level.
