    Great Basic Fitness Wearable

The Garmin Vivofit Fitness Band (original version) is a great basic unit that includes # of steps taken, # remaining/over your daily goal (once you set it @ GarminConnect from you PC/Mac), distance, # of calories burned, current time, and today's date. It does not include a HR monitor but you can link to one thru the app. I have had no technical problems at all. The band plus the app have helped me really stay on top of my activity thruout the day. Given the avg cost of these are $130, the $50 I paid makes it very economical as I educate myself to how to properly track activities. I chose the Garmin over another well known fitness band because it is truly water repellent and does not pop out of the band as I'd read. Very pleased.

This was purchased as a xmas gift for my youngest sons partner. He's very fitness motivated, but not a techno geek. I checked out this and other items and purchased this because it runs on a small watch battery that should last a year. Other models had to be charged almost on a daily basis. He hasn't taken it off since he received it.

Comfortable to wear. Digital display is easy to read. Quick access to number of steps, distance walked, time and date. Still confirming step-count accuracy. It appears to "over count" steps on the elliptical.

I bought this for my son he's younger , but wanted to keep track of his steps. I bought it for him a few months ago and he loves it. He enjoys checking on how active he was for the day. Easy use and view.

The thing I like most about this device is that it accurately tracks my steps and translates them into miles per day. The calorie counter is definitely helping me achieve my weight loss goal, too!

Entry level fitnesstracker, limited for the elderly

I bought this for an elderly friend. You have to sync it to a computer to see your daily progress. So her grandson had to go the website, download the program, set up her new account including setting up passwords etc. He put a shortcut on the desktop so she can click on it, log in and then push a botton on the Garmin to sync it. It works just fine and it is accurate. It fits fine, and she loves the purple color. But it is cumbersome for an 80 y/o with limited computer skills to use it: she much rather looks at the unit and see all the info. In her case she would have been better off with with a more expensive model which has a big and bright display.

I also own the vivosmart which has more features but purchased this model for my mother who isn't as techy and didn't need all the bells and whistles. Bought it as a Mother's Day gift and she loves it! She uses it at the gym as a pedometer and also to track her calories burned and it's simple enough to use that anyone can learn really quick. The calories burned and steps seem to be really accurate also!

    Excellent Motivator

After reading reviews of various wearables I settled on the Garmin Vivofit. It was easy to setup, pair with my iPhone and start to use. Needed to pair with my phone to get the real benefit. My goal automatically increases for steps. It definitely motivates me to get moving. I do like the sleep monitor indicating the quantity of deep and light sleep. Haven't really found what is recommended regarding deep sleep. Features that could improve include a watch like clasp. The press fit is difficult to secure meaning those without some strength in their fingers could have some difficulty in securing it. It's nice that both a large and small band were included in the purchase. You can add manual activities and save them but I've not found a means to add the same activity for another day without re-entering all the information. (If you use the elliptical for 45 minutes you need to add it everyday - not able to just have a database of activities and add it to a specific day.) Have not explored the pairing with FitnessPal.

Got fed up with always having to charge the FitBit. Not so with this Garmin. Display is great; do not have to tap on because data is always displayed. Gave 4 stars because app is not as good as FitBit. Also, the band is bigger and less comfortable. Because it is also a watch, I do not have to wear a separate watch.

Garmin vivofit fitness band may not be the best but it definitely is not the worst. The sleep pattern that the band captures is awesome! Plus its calculations on miles etc. can be disputed but it isn't too bad. It looks good too!

I bought this as a gift for my wife and she likes it just doesn't wear it a lot. She isn't a watch wearing kinda person but loves it when she wears it. Thats not very often. It has good features and was not a bank buster. We compete on steps each day and it's a motivator through the app.

This is my first Fitband. It has simple features and is easy to use. The clasp is a bit awkward; Wish it was easier to remove and put on. Very limited Smartphone compatibility choices. Garmin Connect is easy to navigate.
