To set the timer, you don't hit start, but the timer again. Once the timer goes off, it will keep going off. If the microwave dings because it's done, it will periodically ding. To set a time that isn't a quick start time, you have to hit cook time, then the number (1:45 for example), then you hit cook time again...not start. It's just annoying. AND you cannot see the buttons in the dark. They don't glow at all.

It is well-constructed, sturdy, it operates efficiently and is a quality product. I also enjoy the stainless steel and black color which goes perfectly with my marble countertops. It also has pre-programmed times and food settings which makes it easier to use. I am very pleased with my purchase!
