Customers highly value the compact size, overall performance, and washing capabilities of the 2.3 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer and 4.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer Laundry Center. The appliance is also praised for its capacity, ease of use, and reasonable price. However, some customers have noted concerns about the noise level during operation and the quality of the lint trap, while a few have mentioned the spin cycle could be improved.

The space in my laundry room is very small so this was a perfect upgrade. Although the washing machine is small, I love how big the dryer is. Also, it’s not too noisy.

The instal was quick and easy, product works great. Both techs were polite and courteous. However, during the install, my stairs were torn up and the brand new floor that was just refined, now has a huge gouge in the floor.

I read all the reviews and questions before making this purchase. My choices were limited by the very small space I have available. Some people indicated it was noisy, but to me it sounds like a washing machine. Someone asked if it would work in a closet in a room with a sleeping baby. No ... I don't think any washing machine would work in that environment.
I also noted some people complained about the washer containing Styrofoam scraps after the setup crew left. I sure know why as I installed and set this up myself. For shipping, there is a Styrofoam insert in the wash tub. I have to assume this is installed during assembly as it is all but impossible to remove it. I had to cut it up with a large knife and remove pieces of it at a time to get it out. It definitely left a mess in the wash tub which I cleaned up with my vacuum.
Installation and setup was normal for any washer/dryer. If you need some help, the included instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I moved it myself, but it was tough due to the weight and size. I would definitely recommend two people to move this thing.
Washer - has every setting you need to get your clothes clean. I was concerned about the size, but it holds a lot more than you might imagine. I work in the automotive industry so my clothes can get pretty dirty. The washer cleans them perfectly. I've used both pods and liquid detergent. I always use the second rinse as I use fabric softener. It does make some unusual sounds on start up as it senses the load to determine the amount of water needed.
Dryer - It's pretty cut a dry (no pun intended). It works as it's supposed to. Dries the clothes to whatever level you set, relatively quickly, they come out mostly wrinkle free. All the settings you need for whatever type clothes you have.
As a sort of stress test, I was some different sized blankets, up to a queen sized summer comforter (i.e. relatively thin as comforters go). The washer handled them all well. While drying, I needed to remove them, flip them around and put them back in to get them completely dry and it took a while.
All in all, it's a great unit that does everything it's supposed to do and does it well. I have zero complaints and have had no problems with it at all.

Love the Unit - HATE the Lint Trap

PROS - Quiet, easy to use, holds more than I expected (including a lightweight queen size quilt), drains well, drys well. Delivery was wonderful - early, handled quickly and professionally. CONS - Cheap, cheap, cheap lint trap. This would be a 5 star review except for the lint trap. It doesn't come out. There's a sliding door that comes out, then you have to dig with something (I use the used softener sheet) to try to get all the lint and it's not easy. The screen isn't flat, it's warped by the heat of the dryer, so you knock out as much lint as you remove. A horrible design flaw - that I should have thought to check before buying. Since I love the unit, I'm keeping it - but would never recommend it to anyone else.

This unit is perfect for someone who has small area to place this sweet unit with great performance. The wash cycle does a great job cleaning and the dryer dries well. Both washer/dryer are easy to use. The lint trap is very nice in the dryer. I gave it a 4 because the washer is noisy. The dryer is much quieter. We have it in our kitchen at our cabin. Its best to use the washer when you are not in the area.

Performance
Saves energy. Cleans well. Rinses awesome! So much so that my drying times are much less than my previous machine. Clothes and other laundry items feel clean and light after using.
Functions and Cosmetics
Looks modern and sleek. Great features and selections for wash cycle. Easy to load and remove laundry once complete. Downside — Wash cycles are Very loud. I don’t understand why a modern machine must be so loud. The manual and website actually has videos to alert users of normal noises the machine makes so that the user won’t be alarmed. In addition, the dryer door has a plastic handle, and it is Very difficult to open. My teenagers have trouble opening the door every time and often the plastic handle pops off of the dryer door and we have to reinstall it. Dryer handle feels poorly designed. Also located on the dryer door, The lint compartment is the worst I’ve encountered. Some dust falls outside the compartment when opening the dryer, and once opening the compartment of the dryer door (by sliding the plastic cover) the dust falls out and flies out. It is only a little, but it’s dust. It’s slightly messy to clean each time, after each load. Lastly, I tried using the intelligent drying cycles, and it felt like the cycle went on and on for over 90 minutes versus when using manual timing of 50 minutes.
Size
The basket is roomy and fits enough laundry comfortably, even for a family of six which includes an infant. Works well for our limited townhouse space.
Overall, I am happy with the unit. It works well for what we need (space, functionality, energy use and value). This is my first time purchasing this brand.

LOW Preset Water Level - Use Setting Hack

We had to buy a washer during the pandemic to limit outside contact (low immunity / high risk due to medication). I chose Best Buy bc it was the only store that had safety measures in place. Other places would deliver within 48 hours for the same unit and Best Buy was out of stock until mid June. I still ordered from Best Buy bc they took the time to create a video showing their safety protocols during the pandemic. Delivery ended up being moved to an earlier time bc they restocked soon after our purchase (woo-hoo!). The delivery was as promised.
I had not read the reviews on the washer bc my first concern was delivery precautions and my second concern was buying the smallest washer/dryer unit to fit in my tiny apartment's tiny closet.
The water level is super low on the regular cycles even when setting it to a heavy load. To resolve this, set your wash to BULKY and 2ND RINSE. The water level for BULKY is perfect. Once the tub fills up, turn to OFF and then change setting to the appropriate wash cycle...wash will come out perfect (thoroughly washed and rinsed).
The only other minor issue is the noise level. It is loud...but we close the closet door and that is the end of that.
In the end we are very happy to have a washer and dryer at home versus having to go outside during lockdown. Prior to the pandemic, washing and drying wasn't much of a hassle bc the laundry room at our complex is near to our unit and it is well kept by management. During the pandemic, coming into contact with others and their laundry became a concern. It's wonderful to come in from our errands and immediately throw our clothes in the washer. We also wash our reusable face masks...so having a washer and dryer at home is convenient and increases our safety.

Great delivery service and set up. The washer dryer fit in our closet perfectly. The washer gets really dirty clothes very clean in a single wash. The dryer is quiet, but the washer is noisy, even with a closed closet door. I would prefer a warm water rinse which removes soap better, but the washer only has cold rinse options. It does also for a second or "deep" rinse which I select. Overall, happy with my purchase so far and thought the product was a good deal.

I had a very hard time deciding what brand and model to buy, and there were not very many options for a combo washer/dryer that would fit in my small closet. Most of the reviews on this one were good, and it seemed to be the right size, but there were a couple of really bad reviews that scared me, and some others that made me wonder - like the person who said be prepared to re-sew a lot of buttons, or the one who said the lint falls out of the door when you open it, or the one that went on about how noisy it is. I have had this machine for a few weeks now, and I love it! It's great! It's beautiful, works great, and I have had none of these problems. It is big enough to fit my comforter plus some towels in one wash. The dryer is fast.

We are so happy to get this washer dryer. Our old one broke and the new one is excellent. granted the first one we had delivered came damaged and the installers damaged it further. Best Buy sent a replacement and the 2nd installers did a great job installing it carefully. the GE Spacemaker Washer Dryer works great and washes the clothes extremely well and dries without any wrinkles. more washing machine capacity (2/3 cubic ft compared to 1.5 in our old machine) with only a 1/4" of additional width.

Works well. The dryer tends to ball sheets up, but the machine will take a complete queen set and the unit works well. This is the second unit, as the first one had a washer lid code error after the 4th wash and would not run after that. Fairly quiet, no buzzer, but a WiFi adapter can be purchased for remote alerts. Overall happy with it so far.
Installers were great, no issues with the exchange.

My old stacked laundry center in my condo from 2006 finally gave up and would have been $800 to repair with all the parts that were worn down over the years. It gave up at an inconvenient time, and while this GE unit is slightly larger, it still fits in my closet space (barely). Being that it's the holidays, my local Best Buy couldn't offer a delivery date earlier than Feb 6, so I opted to pickup and install myself with the help of a couple people. In addition to the GE washer/dryer, I bought the vent kit from Best Buy, and went across the street to Home Depot to buy the power cord since Best Buy was out of stock. Having never done this before, installation was surprisingly straightforward. Turn off the breaker to the dryer outlet, turn off the water supply, unplug old dryer, disconnect the supply hoses, pull out the old dryer a bit and disconnect the vent hose and drain hose. Removed all the packing of the new unit, installed the new power cord, installed the vent duct on the back of the unit and then reconnect everything. This is minimum a 2 person job though, as the unit weighs over 200lbs.
Onto the unit itself. I'm currently washing its 2nd load and all is going well. The wash cycle is a bit noisier than the unit it replaced, but not horribly so. I can live with that as it gets the clothes much cleaner than my previous unit, and has more wash options. The dryer is pretty quiet, I was pleasantly surprised. The lint trap is in the door, and easy to access by sliding off the cover. All in all seems to be working great, but time will tell. If I remember, I'll update this review as time goes on.

The dryer works great. It dries my clothes quickly, but it does not have a sensor and/or to alert you that the clothes are already dried. You have to keep an eye on drying them. However, the washer works great, but it it a lilltle loud, but I dont care as long as the washer works great. You can wash your large thick towels and thin blankets and dries quickly. I had a 110 volt dryer before but it does not last long and takes a long time to dry. This is why I chose this laundry center. It is large enough to do most of my washing. At my condo. The only thing I cant do is wash a big thick comforter or dry cleaned clothing. Overall love it very much without the extras.

*ENERGY STAR RATED - this means it uses minimum necessary water. It won't fill up as full as your old washer, but it fills with enough. There's a sensor that measures as it fills with water. There is a deep-fill rinse option and a 2nd rinse option if rinsing all the soap out is a concern. The wash and dry cycles take as long as my old full-sized units.
*DOES NOT NEED SIDE VENT KIT. The elbow that attaches in back turns left or right, so you just remove the punch out and attach the vent hose.
The unit is small. Read the description so you're not surprised. It holds about a medium sized load in a full sized washer. Sheets fit easily, but I wouldn't try a bedspread or comforter. Some people have said it only holds 2 towels or 2.5 pairs of jeans How do you measure a half pair? They might be letting the washer fill with water first then putting clothes in to match the little bit of water. See my comment above. Energy star rated, sensors measure the size of the load to put in the appropriate amount of water. What do you think happens if it's measuring the size of the load and there's nothing in the washer? You get enough water for 2.5 pairs of jeans.
It's a small washer / dryer but it still makes the same amount of noise as the full sized units. They're reduced in size, but the mechanisms are the same, and they still make noise. You don't turn down the volume just because they're smaller.
Know what it is you're looking for then read the descriptions to find the right unit for your needs. Do your research before you buy so you don't get the product home and have an unpleasant surprise.

Better than I thought it was going to be! I wanted the larger size but had to go with this one. It actually has a really good capacity for both washer and dryer.
I am still getting use to how it operates; I really need to read the manual. The one thing I don't care for is that I can't run the water and load the clothes at the same same time. However I understand it has a auto water level feature. Also it is a bit loud; not sure if I would have noticed it if it was not in the reviews.
Over I am happy with this purchase!

I've had this washer/dryer for 18 months. Here's what I've learned.
This machine is designed for a user who has never washed their clothes before and has no idea how to do it. You cannot specify how much water to use or what washing cycle to run or for how long. Instead of letting you specify those things, this machine asks you what kind of clothes you're washing (whites, colors, delicates, 'casual?') and how dirty they are, and then it does whatever it thinks is best.
It uses as little water as possible (to earn a "water saving" rating?), and doesn't add enough water to even cover the clothes. Instead, it apparently sets the water level according to the weight of the clothes you put in, so if you want it to add enough water to submerge your clothes, you have to put them in soaking wet. If you want it to fill the tub to the top, you have to tell it the clothes are 'Bulky'.
You can trick it into filling the tub partway by doing this:
- set it for the clothes you're washing (whites, colors, etc.)
- after it fills a bit, push the Start/Pause button
- move the wash cycle dial to OFF for a moment
- then move it to BULKY and push the Start/Pause button again to start it
- it will resume filling the tub
- when it fills to the level you want, push the Start/Pause button to pause it
- again move the wash cycle dial to OFF for a moment
- then move it back to the wash cycle you really want
- and push the Start/Pause button again to start it
This approach may be great for a novice, but for an adult who already knows how to run a washing machine, it can be very frustrating. You can still set the temperature of the water, however.
I've used this machine for 18 months. Mechanically, it seems to be solid and sturdy. The washer is fairly quiet, especially on the spin cycle.
The dryer is also quiet. However, it lacks a buzzer to alert you that it is stopping and you should remove your permanent press items asap. This used to be a standard feature on all dryers; on this one you have to buy an add-on gadget to get it.
Pros --
quiet, both washing and drying
dryer lint trap is easy to clean
Cons --
no ability to specify how full to fill the wash tub -- you have to trick it
no indicator showing you how far along the washer is in the wash cycle
no alert when the spin cycle stops because the load is off balance
no alert when the washer is finished
no alert when the dryer is finished, telling you to remove your permanent press items before they get wrinkled

My washer/dryer unit is working great. The capacity is quite a bit larger than the Whirlpool that it replaced. The delivery was right on time and they did an amazing job making sure everything was perfect before they left. The unit is a little noisy but mine is in a laundry room with a door so I don’t hear it.
