Posted .Hello Alayne - thank you for providing a review of your new refrigerator. We're sorry to hear that your French Door Refrigerator is not working properly. This is not what we would expect and we apologize for your unfortunate experience. If the freezer is not cooling properly, please check that the door is closing and sealing properly and that the freezer temperature control is set at the factory setting of "0". If the unit is empty, we recommend adding gallon jugs of water (not filled all of the way up) to the freezer to help stabilize the temperature. If this does not help, we recommend exercising your warranty and contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Fridge OK but Achilles Heel is the Ice Dispenser
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this refrigerator a lot, with the exception of the ice\water dispenser. The refrigerator is very roomy, and you can fit a ton of stuff into the top and bottom freezer. The slate color is especially nice as is the fingerprint resistant finish, which holds magnets by the way. The ice maker is in the left door and saves space. Ice output is adequate, so I would not bother for a 2nd icemaker in the freezer. The dispenser is what I have issues with. The ice chute clogs daily, so you have to open the door, take out the ice bucket and clear the clog. If the chute clogs, water collects on the drip pan, which has no water draining channels or holes. Water puddles on the drip pan and runs off of it when you open the door. Most of the runoff winds up on the freezer door and on the floor. If you don't hold your glass high in the dispenser, water and ice go everywhere. So other than the ice\water dispenser, this is really nice refrigerator. I'm returning mine for a GE side by side which has a much more user friendly ice\water dispenser. One last thing, the touch sensitive control panel on the dispenser is not back-lit, so determining what you get from the dispenser in a dark room or at night is impossible. GE engineers, you REALLY need to make some improvements on the ice\water dispenser and to the dispenser controls and drip pan.

A few issues, but not horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do love the look of the refrigerator. I feel the handles show fingerprints and I have to wipe it down at least 3 times a day. I wish they would have made the handles fingerprint free because that is where the the refrigerator is touched the most. The finish on the actual refrigerator is fingerprint free. The ice maker is a little small and serves us well for two people. I keep a gallon size bag of ice in freezer for drinks for a crowd. I can always go get ice so I much rather have more room in refrigerator/freezer. Besides from the fingerprints on handles, the water spout drips and is continuing to drip. I wipe it up when I have to wash the handles. I worry about the drip because of my hardwood floors. All and all I like this refrigerator so far but have only had it for 3 months.

Very disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to purchase such a beautiful refrigerator, it looked amazing in my kitchen. I spent a ton of money on it and figured that since it was a GE product, it would last a lifetime. I was wrong. I saw in another review that the water dispenser drips water after you dispense water out of it which I had the same issue with but I could live with that. Fast forward 2 years... one day, there was water leaking out of the ice dispenser. I figured out that the ice had melted and was dripping on my floor, warping some of the flooring that sits in front of the refrigerator. Then the temperature started going down in the refrigerator unit on the top but the freezer was still cold. I had a GE repairman come out which cost $100 to have him look at it without repairing anything on it. He said that the fan that blows the cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator went out. He felt bad about my refrigerator being so new so he gave me half off parts and labor which would have cost me $350. He said that he would be back in 1 week to repair it. 1 week goes by and we get a call..... it is on back order and didn't come in. Extremely irritated, we wait another week.... still no part to repair the refrigerator..... over 1 month later, you guessed it.....STILL NO PART!!!! I tried to talk to their customer service and all I heard was "we are sorry to hear that" and "there is nothing we can do". I now have to go with some other company to try to find this part and pay probably even more for it. Long story short.... buy an extended warranty and keep it on the refrigerator and pray nothing like this happens to you.

DO NOT BUY!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This fridge deserves 0 stars - it made it just past the warranty period and croaked. We purchased it December 15, 2015 (we didn't purchase it at BB) and on February 3, 2017 I opened the door and went for the coffee creamer and it was lukewarm - the entire inside of the fridge was barely below room temp. I adjusted the temp to the lowest setting. It took us about another week to notice it because it seems to cool for a while then it stops - no temp alarm or any other warning. This weekend I went for the coffee creamer and as soon as I opened the door I smelled something sour. Again, everything was lukewarm. Over $200 worth of food spoiled. We hadn't really paid attention but after the fact my wife finally put 2+2 together as to why some food was spoiling so quickly - I wonder how much bad food we and our children have eaten since we bought this thing. After doing some online research, there a numerous owners of this unit that have gone through almost exactly the same experience. Now out of warranty, it appears the repairs will be cost-prohibitive and it seems to take weeks to get parts (based on other reviews). Our last fridge made it almost 15 years and was still perfectly functional when we replaced it. Now this unit for $2,000 and it barely lasted a year - absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. Lesson learned and I will NEVER buy GE products again. Do yourself a favor and research thoroughly before dropping your hard-earned cash.

Looks nice but very loud compressor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fridge is very loud! Can hear compressor humming and is extremely annoying. Not sure if this is normal or if we have a lemon. For what we paid sure was not expecting this.

Would not buy again.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had this fridge for only 3 1/2 years and now we have to buy another one because our warranty was up in 3 years from Best Buy. We should have bought the 5 year warranty. The freon was bad or ran out. And there was some water/liquid when we opened the back. Of course it’s not covered under the compressor warranty. Get the warranty!

Very Loud
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We just got this fridge 4 days ago. It is really loud. We hear high-pitch sound all the time and makes us crazy. I can hear the sound from my bedroom. We measured decibel level with a cell phone using the app, Decibel X. It was 50~52 dB at the side and front of the fridge, and 60~64 dB at the bottom (left side was the loudest) !! It is sooooo loud. We are returning this fridge. Thanks Best Buy has longer return period than Home Depot (Only 48 hrs). Seems like LG has compressor problems, Samsung has ice maker problems, not sure what to choose next.

water leaks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ice maker in the door is either leaking or overfilling when it makes ice and the water drips down into the ice bin and freezes the entire door ice bin into a solid block. Ive had to use a hair dryer to melt the ice enough to get the bin out before. GE refuses to even help me troubleshoot and only wants to send a tech at $90 a visit to tell me there is nothing they can do and that I need to buy a new fridge. This is only 2.5 years old

Good refrigerator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The frig has plenty of room and love the double doors. The water dispenser has a good speed. The ice maker in the door is great, but doesn’t hold a lot of ice. The drawers are thinner plastic than other refrigerators I’ve had. You will need to open the both doors to get in to the bottom drawer. The frig doors do not closes on their own like other models.

I'd keep looking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a cabinet maker for 12 years. I've built custom kitchens and fitted hundreds of appliances. The Industry standard for this type of refrigerator calls for a 36" wide opening. The GE spec sheets say this refrigerator is 35 3/4" wide. A client of mine has now ordered two, and both have sides that bulge out to 36 3/16"!!! Obviously, that isn't fitting into a 36" wide opening! As a small business, my client's satisfaction is my #1 goal. I am now looking at rebuilding a refrigerator cabinet to accommodate GE's poor quality control! I have never been stonewalled by customer service like I have been by GE on this issue! They are not budging! Which makes me think the added 7/16" of width isn't an issue with just 1 or 2. I believe they have a HUGE amount of these poorly built refrigerators and do not want to set the precedent of returning and replacing!!! They have changed their website to say the refrigerator is "approximately" 35 3/4", but the hard copy and every other spec sheet just says 35 3/4"!!! Which is the industry standard! When I build kitchens I don't deal with appropriately! What's next? Dishwashers that are 24 7/16"? A 30 7/16" wide range? After this experience, I will not be buying or recommending any of my clients purchase GE appliances.

Faulty Ice Maker & Water Dispenser
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.BUYER BEWARE! There is a known issue with the door that holds the ice maker and water line for this model. I have had a GE repair tech come to my home and work on this issue 3 times (5 if you include the times that wrong parts were delivered) and the issue is still not resolved. The water and ice lines do not work. During my last service visit, the GE tech was speaking on the phone with his superior who said "off the record there is a known problem with this door" What!? And the solution? Order and replace the door again... this is unacceptable. I called and talked to a GE consumer cares rep and was told that the refrigerator needs to be repaired 4 times before it can be deemed replaceable. My refrigerator was purchased in May 2018. The ice and water line initially worked but began to fail 3 months later. It is not worth taking the gamble and buying a faulty product at this price point. Go with a different brand, especially since GE doesn't seem to stand behind their product.
