Q: I HAVE A GE REFRIGERATOR MODEL GFE28GELEDS RECENTLY THE LED LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER AND NOW THEY STILL OPERATE WHEN THE DOORS ARE OPEN BUT NOT AT FULL ILLUMINATION SO THE INSIDE LOOKS DARK. ANY SUGESTIONS HOW TO FIX. LOOKED FOR LOOSE WIRES BUT NO LUCK.

A: If this fridge has showcase lighting, look really carefully at each light. One will probably be more dim than the rest and slightly flickering. Order a replacement for about $26. Pop out the old one, unsnap it from harness, and put in new one - easy fix! It’s seems that is is kind of like the annoying Christmas lights that turn off when one bulb is bad. Everything we read online said it was control board….nope! Cheap and do-it-yourself. if you have a white surround in your fridge, order the cheaper silver color and switch out the new part for the old. It should be the same part number and will work.

Q: Does this model have a removable ice bucket in the door?

A: Hello Linda, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. I will be happy to help! This model has the ice bucket in the left hand door. Pull up and out on the ice bucket to remove it from the compartment. To replace the ice bucket, set it on the guide brackets and push until the ice bucket seats properly. This model does have the capability of adding a second icemaker in the freezer section if desired. The kit number is IM5D. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

Q: Where is this fridge made?

A: Hello MC, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. We appreciate your interest in this beautiful French-Door refrigerator. This model is manufactured in the U.S. in Louisville, KY. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

Q: The height on this fridge shows 69.7 to top of hinge in the Specs. Then again it shows 69.7 as the height in the Dimensions block. It is obvious that the hinge height should be taller. What is the height of this fridge without the hinge height?

A: Hi Glenda- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your interest! Overall Height including hinge is 69 7/8". Height to Top of Case is 69". We apologize for any confusion. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: how much does the optional ice maker cost?

A: Hi DavidW- This is Sue at GE Appliances. IM5D Icemaker Kit is sold separately. You can view the price ($99.99) and order online though BestBuy at: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ge-icemaker-white/5231209.p?id=bb5231209&skuId=5231209 - Thanks for checking with us!

Q: Is this stainless "smudge resistant?"

A: I would say no. I would call it a true stainless steel surface where you will see smudges and fingerprints. The Method brand stainless steel cleaner that I buy works really well. I use it once a week on all of my stainless appliances.

Q: What is the difference between a frost free refrigerator and an automatic defrost one?

A: Hello Caladium22. Thank you for your question. We are glad to assist. Frost free refrigerators defrost automatically either on a time-based system or usage-based system. There is no difference between frost free and automatic defrost models. I hope this helps. Olga
