It is way too loud and the on and off with the noise makes you think it's going to stop but it doesn't. This thing louder than my vacuum and I'm not exaggerating. I don't see an energy saver or a night mode though I see a Cresent moon on the controller I do see the option to put it on sleep mode. What a waste of time. I have to repackage and now find a way to bring it back to the store. -_-

This should be a bit below the level of moderate rainfall, and we regret that this noise level was not ideal for you. The unit may cycle on and off in order to keep the room at your desired temperature. If there is not a Night mode on your model, you can still arrange for quieter, nighttime cooling by selecting the Cool mode and Low fan speed with a middle set temperature. Had to duct tape this brand new product to keep hose in. Portable air conditioners just are not as efficient in cooling as window type.

I think received a defective unit. It’s unbelievably loud even at the lowest setting, makes a metallic rattling sound I can hear it from the other room. My 10 year old ac is quieter. It didn’t cool my small room, and summer has not even started yet. I’m very frustrated and will be returning this.

Best Buy won't accept returns after 15 days and getting a hold of GE for a warranty claim is nearly impossible. Once you do get in contact with someone, you will learn they will only send you a "Good Will Certificate". Which means you have to purchase another unit out of pocket and they will reimburse you once you have proof of purchase. You will also learn that you will not be reimbursed for the taxes you paid on the first or second unit. Perhaps this is a common practice, but since I received a defective unit, I don't think it's right for me to incur an additional cost, because I'm asking a manufacturer to honor their warranty.

There are possible troubleshooting steps in your manual regarding a lack of cooling, and full information on the limited warranty if you need to return the unit is listed on page 15. Under the terms of that warranty, a possibly defective unit will be either replaced by the same model or a model of comparable functionality, or a refund will be arranged; as you mentioned, this refund may be through use of a certificate. I have a medium size bedroom and this AC works great, got my room nice and chilly within minutes. Apart from being an AC unit, it also works as a Fan and dehumidifier. The unit itself its a bit heavy especially if you have a room with carpet. Its kinda difficult to move it around but for me its no big deal. It easily installs in your window and its easy to remove as well. I can’t wait to use it in the summer when the heat kicks in good. I definitely recommend it. Its worth it!!!
