Q: Will the fan run continuously in cool mode? I’m looking for a model that will.
A: Just got this ac and it constantly switches from AC to fan and there is a huge sound level difference between the two. Bought this for our bedroom, do not recommend and we will be returning or replacing.
A: JUST GOT THIS EXACT UNIT AND IT IS NOT SELF-EVAPORATING. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY DRAIN IT AND TANK ONLY SEEMS TO HOLD ABOUT ONE QUART! HAVE TO DRAIN EVERY HOUR! YOU HAVE TO USE SHALLOW DISH BECAUSE DRAIN FOR TANK IS AT BOTTOM OF UNIT!
A: Hello, Great question! We appreciate your interest in this appliance and we'd be more than happy to help with the sound level. The sound level of portable air conditioners varies depending on fan speed. They are approximately 59 decibels at the maximum fan speed setting. By way of comparison, 60 decibels is the sound level of normal conversation measured 3 feet away. We hope this information helps. Have a wonderful day! -Sylvia@GEA
A: Hello, Thanks so much for reaching out. We're happy to answer your question! If it has been necessary to transport the portable air conditioner on its side/back, it should be stood upright for an equal amount of time as it was on its side/back before plugging it in. If it was on its side/back for more than a day, leave standing for 24 hours before running. If it was laying on its side/back just briefly to service, clean, or adjust, then just a few minutes of stand time will be enough. Hope this helps! Mike@GEA
Q: How far away from a window will the window vent kit allow for?
A: Hello, Great question! We appreciate your interest in GE Appliances and we'll gladly help you with this model. The vent kit can be placed in a window opening of 20"- 46". This should not affect the distance the appliance can be placed from a window. We found that this portable air conditioner also requires a 30" clearance on all sides. The hose of this model itself measures 5ft. in length. We hope this information helps. If you have any further questions let us know. Have a great day! -Sylvia@GEA
A: Yes, if the window is more than 50” high I don’t think the adapter will extend much farther to enclose the opening.
A: Previous response is wrong. The exhaust hose is 6"! I cut a 5" hole in my wall and ordered a wall vent in anticipation of this arriving, only to find out it actually has a 6" diameter exhaust hose. Easy enough to make the hole bigger, but now I'm waiting on a bigger wall vent to complete the project.
Q: Can I add an exension hose to the existing one? Not sure 5" would reach the window.
A: Hi - Our portable air conditioners come with a 5' exhaust hose. We do not recommend extending this hose as this could reduce the efficiency of the air conditioner. We're so glad you checked. All our best! Vikki@GEA
