I live in the Rocky Mountains, where we laugh at those with air conditioners. But, two of my guest rooms are south facing, and that means they get extremely hot in the summer, even as the rest of the house stays cool. Knock-out blinds would work, but block the great sunshine and views, so a portable A/C unit seemed just the ticket. First, understand that portable is a relative term. According to the box, this thing weighs over 75 lbs, so it's not as if you're going to lug it up and down the steps every day. As with all such units, it also has a hose to vent to the outside, so it's not going to win any interior design awards. But, as an air conditioner it works great. It was easy to install and cooled down a 300 SF room in a reasonable amount of time. It is relatively quiet on lower speeds. It has an operating mode that includes a gradual warm-up through the night, so you can go to sleep in a cool room and have it slowly come up to a temperature conducive to extended sleep. And, if it gets too warm, the remote control is right there. This unit also boasts a dehumidifier, but living in an area with relative humidity ratings generally under 20%, I wasn't able to test this feature. Overall, a great solution to a localized heat problem.

Absolute garbage! Lasted 13 months. We have been meticulous about making sure the filters we're always clean and the until was drained. We only used the unit at night to keep our bedroom cold and for the white noise. I just can't believing it only lasted 13 months. The fan still works and the compressor engages, but it no longer blows cold. Can't figure it out. Whatever the case, it's not worth the money.

The controls cannot be disabled so if you have cats who climb on everything, they will keep changing the settings. Terrible design. Also the hose is super short, so you have to keep it right under the window which limits where you can keep it in the room. Also there is a space for a small air filter in the back of the AC which is missing. I contacted the manufacturer and they said that they don't provide the additional air filter that goes into that space and customers can buy it. That's a terrible sales strategy to not put a filter in there that the AC uses and hope to get more money from customers when they buy it.

It's good but covers only a small room. It is cost-effective.

Worked great for about 5 months. Then the temperature regulator went out, it stopped blowing cold air and it was not evaporating the water so it kept leaking. Had to go through GE to replace.

Slower than a speeding bullet! Louder than a locomotive! Unable to leap tall buildings in a single bound! This thing is loud and the vibration annoying.
