Making too much noise and there’s no adhesive tape to sealed the plates where you insert the tube. Insignia is better which I bought for my son.

Incredibly noisy. Like being inside a jet turbine. I wouldn't buy this again and I didn't even want to buy it the first time but I missed the return window so I'm stuck with it.

Started making noise a couple weeks after purchasing and broke the day after the return period of ended

Worked great for a month then stopped blowing cold air. GE does not make parts for this product but are honoring the warranty by reimbursing me for another GE appliance.

Bought this to cool a 260 Sqft room in a historic house. I liked the idea of being able to easily remove it when not in use. I also liked the exterior appearance better than a typical window air conditioner. What a disappointment!!! Ran for hours and only lowered the temperature by a few degrees. Had to add two oscillating fans to move the air around and it still wasn't cooling to my expectations after running all night. Returned it for a window air conditioner that was $50 cheaper and it chilled the room in 15 minutes.

Overall So first off, I am in no way a professional when it comes to HVAC systems. This review is based entirely on my experience. With that said, everything with the unit is fantastic. AC mode works quite well, in rooms both smaller and larger than 350sq ft. I can’t speak much about the dehumidifier mode due to low humidity levels in the Southern California area during this time of the year. All I can definitely say is it seems to work just fine. Fan mode has been what’s been most used since receiving this unit. Features 3 speed levels for each setting, High, Medium, and Low. Plus an additional timer setting that works for stopping the blower or starting it. Working the timer setting threw me for a loop at first. Adjusting the numbers after pressing the timer refers to hours, so there’s no way of setting a 30 minute timer. Using the timer to turn on the blower works the same way but, while the machine is off. The added remote is a nice addition but the lack of a voice assistant or smart app to pair with is a bummer, which would have been far more useful. Finally, the vents that automatically open along the top, aren’t adjustable. They open when powered on and shut when off. There is no way to adjust the angle/direction of the airflow. Possible issues/considerations: After browsing at the documentation I realized the online description doesn’t do such a good job at informing potential buyers of application requirements. My sliding windows (which create a vertical opening) measure 47”. The documentation states it fits windows 20”-46”. This area is pretty clear, however, there is no mention of an entire length from floor to window. In the owner's manual, there's a portion that depicts an AC with a 50cm marker from wall to unit and 90cm from floor to the top of the exhaust. But this information isn’t present in any product description. In an online search, in an attempt to determine if this was oversight on Best Buy’s part, I found that model# APCA10YABW, the unit being reviewed, doesn’t show up on any competitors' websites. Instead, I’ve only come across a very similar looking model referred to as APCA10YZMW. I assume this is a Best Buy exclusive model. The information across both models is exactly the same, Both only reference that it fits windows 20”-46”. The owner's manual is exactly the same and includes the same 50cm and 90cm measurements on placement near the window. In my installation, the exhaust hose measures roughly 51” without including the bends (approx 56” w/ bends). 61½” from floor to the top of the exhaust. I don’t believe it will give much more from here, perhaps an inch or 2 but that's it.

This turned out to be incorrect as after having the unit for 4 mos, and thru the months of June, July, August, and most of Sept.. the machine now has to be emptied EVERY NIGHT. When calling customer service they informed me that the unit is running according to how it operates. So we went from not having to empty the bucket for 3 1/2 months to emptying it every night now.. and that's normal? Don't think so. I knew i should have avoided a GE appliance.

Terrible product, so loud and install was awful, poorly made

Doesnt even cool a 12×12 bedroom. Bought this unit to replace an older portable ac that wasnt keeping the room cold enough on really hot days, but this unit couldnt even get the room below 75 degrees. I even let it run for a couple hours to see if it would cool the room, and it didn't make a dent. For reference I'm in Ohio and it's only 80 degrees outside, so it's not like I'm trying to cool a room while it's excessively hot out.

Loud as a freight train, inefficient and slow to cool.

The vent does not stay in the window because it was poorly constructed. I had to use tape to keep it in the window.

Looks nice, but did not cool our "small" room. Advertised as meant for cooling medium sized rooms... Our room felt warm after the unit had neen running for 6 hours with the door shut to the room. Unfortunately, I would never recommend this product to anyone. Thought since it was a GE we were getting a quality portable air conditioner, but that wasn't the case.

Hose broke the minute I tried to open it up to put it in the window! Cheap material

The Air conditioning would go on and out not even cooling down my house. What a shame it tuned out to be.

Worst product I ever bought. When you move it from one room to another, it is impossible to install it well, took 30 minutes to an hour!!! Always ended up with poorly set up and as a result room doesn't get cool enough. It's called portable AC but it's not really portable!

I purchased this on July 17, and stop working already. The returning time period has closed, so nothing I can do. To repair it (if possible), I have to take a taxi or Uber to the store. My apartment is on the 4th floor in a walkup building. I need someone to help me. I wasted $400. I never buy this item.

The GE Portable Air Conditioner is a great unit to cool any room in your home. I have it to cool a bedroom that has poor air flow from my HVAC system. This unit allows the room to be easily cooled off when the temp outside is pretty warm. Setup was quick and easy, and the manual was easy to follow. The unit can be used for AC cooling, Dehumidifier, or Fan. The louver flap will automatically open when running the unit. You can use the swing button on the remote to adjust. The unit is fairly quiet and quickly cools the room. When it’s time to drain the water you will get a warning. The plug to drain is in the bottom rear of the unit and is easy to drain. It would have been nice if it included a pan to drain it. The hose is easy to install on the back of the unit, and the window assembly is fairly easy to put together. My only issue is that the one screw it included to screw the hose to the assembly base did not work. The screw had a flat end and I was not able to get it to penetrate into the base. I ended up using an extra screw I had lying around the house. I also wish the hose attached to the window assembly a bit tighter. It leaves a slight gap that could easily let really small insects inside your home. Overall, I’m happy with this portable AC Unit and hope to get years of great service from it.

This A/C seems to only work in smaller square footage than advertised. It wouldn’t completely cool a 120 sq ft room. The air exhaust hose that is included is only long enough to reach the standard window height but nothing over 5 feet high.

Was really upset this item never started it was a refurbished item, opened cord unraveled there was blood on the unit. Missing Manuel, I just kept unit I was not gonna waste my gas to take it back. As expensive as gas is!
