    I really like this washer

This is exactly what I was looking for--a washer that cleaned clothes like before front loaders became the thing(mine was awful) It has deep fill and washes well. My only complaint, and why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, is that some of fabric softener is still on the agitator after the load is finished and sometimes there are blotches of fabric softener on the clothes. I use HE downy--not that that should matter

Hello Dixie - thank you for providing a review of your washing machine. We're glad to hear it was exactly what you were looking for. As far as the softener, some softeners suggest diluting prior to filling in the dispenser. Also, please be sure your are selecting the "Deep Rinse" option when using liquid fabric softener. We hope this helps! Thanks for providing your feedback and for choosing GE Appliances! NANCYatGEA GE_Appliances

    Very Annoying, bad design

There are several things about this machine that are super annoying. I wonder if the person who designed it ever actually washed a load of laundry. First there is the locking lid. When a cycle is over you seriously have to wait for two or three full minutes before you can open the lid. There should be an "unlock" button so the user can get to their clothes. The first machine they sent us actually got stuck in the lock position with our very first load. Our wet clothes were trapped inside for two days. They had to replace the washer. Another aggravating thing is that God forbid you have a load that is too damp and needs to be spun dry because you cannot just hit a spin button. There is a cycle called "drain and spin" allegedly for this purpose but it FILLS THE LOAD WITH WATER!!! Why in the world does it do that??? It's too damp, I don't want MORE water in there! And...AND it takes almost 25 minutes to get through. This is a case of too fancy for its own good. It lights up, it plays a little tune but it has no common sense. If I could go back in time and just fix my old machine vs. buying this new one I would do it in a heartbeat. On my old machine I had complete control. With this one you're stuck running an entire new cycle because you can't just pick a spot in the cycle you want to go to. It's madness!!!

    Second time purchase

We purchased this washer for my mother-in-law two years ago. She liked it and when our circa 2006 era washer died, we decided to purchase one for ourselves. It does sound much more different than the previous washer, and I agree with other posters that it is a bit loud. Since it is in our basement, that’s not an issue for us. Also, loud is relative. It’s a bit louder than our prior washer in that I can hear it but it’s not terrible. Installation was simple. My mother in law’s has been working well for two years. She has no complaints about the operation or cleanliness of the clothes. I find that with the extra spin setting, our clothes come out fairly dry and our dryer doesn’t have to run as long. The myriad of water settings/fill levels is nice as well. The tub size is excellent and aside from the locking safety feature (I want to manually add bleach without a fight after the water has filled), I have no complaints. A good value.

I only received this washer 2 days ago - but boy am I impressed with how bright and clean my clothes are! I was quite skeptical when I saw how it worked. It looks as if this machine is not doing much of anything - especially since the clothes appear to basically "sit there" without much agitation. It works nothing like my old washer of 20 years. But I've never seen cleaner and brighter clothes! Here's hoping I will continue to love it over time as much as I do now!

    Simple, Straightforward Washer

We purchased this washer for my mother-in-law to replace a 17 year old Kenmore washer. Her criteria was that it must have an agitator and she did not want anything with a digital display. After comparing a number of options on Best Buy's website and in store, we settled on this washer. The washer has many options, letting you control exactly how much water is used, what kinds of cycles the wash will go through, extra rinses, and so on. The tub (4.2) is a good size (we looked at smaller tubs 3.2,, 3.8) and settled on this. What she's found is that the options are clear, she's pleased with what she can fit in the washer, and has no complaints. Since the washer is in a basement laundry room, noise isn't an issue. She has a dog that sheds and she's pleased with how clean the washer gets everything. She had purchased the GE dryer that matches this washer a year ago and was exceptionally pleased with Best Buy's setup and the quality of the dryer. That helped lead us to getting the matching washer this year.

After looking all over for a washer that I could actually set the water level, I found this one. What's cool about this one is that you can set the water level (load size) yourself, or you can let the washer do it with it's sensor. It has more wash options that I will ever use and washes clothes well. I took back a Maytag that was terrible and didn't get the clothes completely wet. I'm very happy with this one and wish I would have bought it first. The only con is that it's kinda loud by today's standards, but not too bad.

I purchased this machine in 2012 with a 2 year warranty that expired in 2014. Now in 2015 this machine has stopped working and the Best Buy Geek Squad can't seem to get the diagnosis correct. My GE machine before this one last me over 10 years... Now I'm one unhappy Lady.

Bought Washer on Tuesday, did first wash load and was Loud beyond words. Had to wait until Saturday for technician to come out to inform us that unit is defective and we need a new one. Meanwhile, spent money on Washer and still having to visit Laundromat and spend more money. I'm nervous to see how long we'll have to wait for replacement to arrive.

This machine is loud. Five months after I bought it, one night, it just turned on, starting spinning by itself and i was awakened by the noise, and i unplugged it right away. I called GE directly, and the tech reset it. After four months again, I got another problem again, and I just kept on unplugging it a lot of times, and just rotating the controls, and one day, i was able to fix it. It's 14 months old, i called Bestbuy Geek Squad, I bought 3 year warranty with them, the machine is not filling in the correct water level, fills the drum on 10% level regardless of small, medium large, and deep fill level. i called Geek Squad, the technician said he replaced all the parts, but it is still doing the same thing. Would you believe he told me that it is water saver, so it does not fill more than that 10% level, and that was the normal level, maybe he never used a washer at all in his lifetime. So what will I do now, I got a warranty, but Best Buy could not even fix it. I want my money back or give me another model. I will call Best Buy again, I hope GE or Best Buy is reading this review. i bought a brand new machine so i don't have any problems, it's only been 14 months, and i had so many bad experiences with this washer. This machine is a 2017 model, it should be high tech, not a stone age model washer, I shouldn't be manually pouring water into the drum using the bucket. How can i wash , there is not enough water, to rinse out the detergent from the clothes. This is really ridiculous.

    Malfunctions like crazy

I was very excited when I received my washer and dryer set. The dryer was Samsung and I couldn't have been happier with its performance. This washer, on the other hand, was an absolute disappointment. First of all, the wash cycle did not ever get completed. It would keep the clothes drenched and dripping with water when it technically "completes" a cycle. I couldn't wash even one large comforter without the machine making loud noises like it was overloaded. And one night at 3AM, I woke up to this washer running a full cycle automatically (the washer was empty and I hadn't even touched it before I went to bed) when the power button was off. In the middle of the night, I had to unplug the main to actually turn the machine off. I have filed for a return and exchange. I am going in for a Samsung washer. This is definitely not a reliable product. Glad to be getting rid of it.

I am very pleased with this washer! It is high efficiency, and actually puts enough water in the tub when I choose the automatic level. The tub is huge! It washes well. It dries the clothes well with the spin setting (especially with an extra spin!) It is very versatile with the settings. It is not noisy. You can add more clothes or water or detergent a few minutes after the cycle starts when the lid unlocks. Compared to some of the negative aspects of some high efficiency machines, this one seems to be free of those negative characteristics. I highly recommend it!

My 25 year old Maytag washer finally gave up and after an intense search, I decided to buy this GE washer. Pros: You can choose the load size (small, medium, large, super) or choose "Precise Fill". The clothes are almost dry when they come out of the machine, reducing the drying time. Cons: The agitator is very flimsy. The installer left a piece of Styrofoam that has to be placed over the agitator whenever the machine is moved to prevent the agitator from breaking off. The washer shakes violently during the spin cycle. The washer is much noisier than my old washer but it is doing its job. When "Precise Fill" is chosen, the lid is locked from beginning to end. When the load size is chosen manually, the lid doesn't lock until the actual wash cycle and remains open during fill and soak cycle. I chose this washer strictly for the option of choosing the load size manually.

Hello MotherOfTwo - thank you for your review of your new washer. This is a very nice model. If it shakes violently during the spin cycle, it sounds like the shipping material was not removed from the bottom of the unit either. Please contact your installer or refer to your Installation Instructions for information on how to remove same. If this does not help, we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. We hope this helps! Thanks for choosing GE Appliances! NANCYatGEA GE_Appliances

Had washer two months, bought 06/13/16, and it is setting waiting for 2nd repair. 1st repair done on Wed. 08/17, broke again on Thurs.08/18 with same problems. It vibrates like crazy and the circuit board has to be replaced. I have no doubt the bad vibration is impacting the circuit board sensors. The machine will not go thru its full wash cycle - it stop after the wash - it will not rise or spin - clothes are soak and full of suds. Very frustrating!!!! Now, we have to go into our 3rd week without a washer. My wife is very upset. GE should stand by their word and give me a another washer. I will have to take huge loss if this thing is not resolved. Maytag/whirlpool here I come.

Can't stand ANY of the new HE washers!

H.E.: a joke right??? My lovable Kenmore of 20 yrs finally bit the dust. There are absolutely NO good options out there now, IMHO. I finally settled on this one 'cuz I foolishly thought I'd have some good options/control over it. NOT!!! I had thought I'd figured out how to get an extra fill, with the Deep Fill feature, (by trial & error). Well, I get the extra fill, it washes a very few minutes & then IMMEDIATELY DRAINS ALL THE WATER OUT!!! I've tried doing it different ways; I think it only worked once or twice, but today I again "lost" all the water for the FIFTH time out of 7-8 attempts over the last couple months. Talk about WASTE!!! That's a lot of detergent down the drain, literally, that it is costing me! Sorry but I DO NOT like washing my clothes in a huge washer drum that only half fills with water!!! Some link I tried thru this site told of how to do the extra "Deep Fills", but it sure did not work that way for me. When the water starts draining, there is absolutely NOTHING I can do to stop it!!! The stop button does nothing; moving it to another cycle does nothing; even UNPLUGGING the darn thing didn't do anything! When I plugged it back in, it just continued to drain! I know I am not the only one! I've read many reviews & talked to many people blasting these darn HE machines. This is not brand specific: it is across the board as far as I'm concerned. I know there are many that "love" their machines & that is fine; this is just my personal experience & preference!
