This washer replaced a 17 year-old Kenmore. We wanted a mostly basic washer, with knobs, an agitator, and no over-the-top features or engineering that would be costly to repair. Overall, this a good washer. A number of reviews mentioned the noise. I prefer to think of it as the sounds this washer makes based on how it's engineered. The sounds are definitely different than the Kenmore. We've found that the wash times are comparable with the Kenmore. The most impressive part of this washer is the Speed Wash cycle. Start to finish takes 20-25 minutes. This is great if you are in a hurry. But that time savings is cancelled out by the time it takes to dry the clothes using the matching dryer, which we purchased at the same time.

I like this washer very much. The inside is bigger than I thought, which is good for washing comforters and bedding. It has many selection features. It is a little on the loud side, but if you have it in the basement it wouldn't matter. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Works great and seems an excellent quality product for our needs. Great budget option and does everything necessary for my family. Larger capacity than expected and very happy with it so far after about 30 loads.

OK - so it's not the quietest machine made, but I knew that before making the purchase. I close the door and can hardly tell it's running. I love that it's a perfect size for two people - no longer need tons of washing capacity. And it has an agitator that works perfectly.

Never really liked my not so old washer, but I really didn't like it when it died. Love this machine, it does something my other didn't, it cleans my clothes! Happy I got an agitator. Happy I got this machine.

When the old washer finally died I said we were getting a brand new one. After 5 days of reviews we settled on this ge. You can set the water level on whatever you like just like the old school way or you can use the HE mode. The washer Holds large loads and does an excellent job on the spin cycle. Highly recommend especially if you want an ole school with a little technology

I loved being able to order and pick up my item that day. So far I love my new ge washer. The inside is bigger than I thought but I love it! Easy selection dials. Hoping it will last a lot longer the my previous washers. Too many electronic parts these days.

Mostly quiet, jumps around a little bit sometimes but gets clothes clean, so that part is satisfying, but my washing machine was almost unloaded at the wrong apartment and I had to run down the street very quickly to stop my washer from being unloaded on a different street with the same apartment number??? Also I got a warranty on my washer but was not given any paperwork or instruction manual upon delivery so that was very displeasing aswell.

We are still getting used to this machine but so far it's been working well. I think it uses less water than my old machine (senses fill) and I don't need to use as much detergent, so that is a savings. It doesn't feel as solid as my old heavy washing machine but if it holds up, in a year, I might change my review to excellent. Still need to try all functions but I think this is a great basic model at a decent price point. Nothing fancy and easy to use.

Have had these a year and they are perfect! Cheap, durable, and it has an agitator! Several settings, but not complicated to use. I can fit a queen comforter in it without any issues. Haven't tried a king size bit I feel like it would fit. There are several water level settings and I couldn't be happier!

I love my new washer. I have the capacity to easily handle bulky items like blankets. It makes washing jeans and sweatshirts a breeze. I thought I'd be baffled by all the controls and options. However, I've found that I just need to make one or two adjustments for most of my washing needs. Great product.

The good: You are able to select water level (Low, Medium, High, Max) although some reviews say that each of these levels depends on how much clothes you have in the machine. I always fill it while no clothes are loaded, to see how much water is in there. For normal loads, I use Medium with Deep Fill. (If I use High without Deep fill, there is too much water--not enough friction to clean clothes) You are able to create warm water for washing clothes (for example, 90 degrees F), by first filling about 5 minutes with HOT, and then switching to WARM, but I believe you must press START/PAUSE after switching to WARM, and expect 15 seconds of cold water to pour in right after you close the id, before it actually starts pouring luke-warm water. There's a comparable Maytag machine for sale now, and according to the reviews, you can't open the lid to see how much water is being used. So I’m glad this GE allows me to do this. The Bad: VERY STRANGE settings. For example, In order to get a warm temperature for colors, I fill it on HOT for 5 minutes, then switch to WARM. But I have to press Start/Pause twice, otherwise it doesn't switch. If I close the lid, after closing, every time it pours about 15 seconds of cold water. (This is stupid) Then it switches to the setting that I chose. Other Quirks with the Programming: 1. If you change water temperature during filling, sometimes it changes, and sometimes it doesn't. I think/hope it will be consistent if I press Start/Pause twice when I change temperature. Why would I want to do this? Because "WARM " is not really warm. It is 50 or 60 degrees F. The manual says that modern detergents are designed to wash in cold water. Well, that's a lie. I have tried it. It doesn't work. 2. Sometimes when you open the lid, water continues to fill. Other times, the water stops. I haven't yet figured out why it is not consistent. 3. Drain and Spin sometimes fills the machine again. The manual doesn't tell you this, but if you want to Drain and Spin again, you must have OPTIONS set to OFF, or EXTRA SPIN" otherwise it will rinse again, defeating the purpose. 4.Fabric softener doesn't dispense evenly when you put it in the middle hole, as instructed by the manual. So, when it switches to RINSE, I pour fabric softener into the water, over the clothes 5. Does not get enough water out of the clothes during spinning. Usually I do “Drain and Spin” an additional time. 6. Not possible to select "EXTRA SPIN" when you are using fabric softener. So if you want to get extra water out of clothes, you have to do Drain and Spin manually after the wash cycle is complete. 7. If it's set to HOT and you open the lid during filling, and you close the lid, it fills with cold water for about 15 seconds and then switches back to hot water. This is a strange quirk 8. The owners manual says to put detergent on top of the clothes after you load them. However, the quick reference guide says to put detergent in the bottom of the tube before loading clothes. (They should not tell you opposite information) 9. Precise fill is not acceptable for colored clothes because it pours very hot water on some colored clothes, and this can fade bright colors. The lid is locked during filling, but after filling is done, you can open the lid and feel the water. Every 6 inches around the circle, the temperature is different: very hot on some clothes, very cold on other clothes. 10. I called GE twice and emailed once, trying to determine if my machine is defective. They all said I should get a GE technician to check my machine. However, from past experience, I guess the technician would say there is nothing wrong. My point is: the GE people on the phone should know about the quirks that I described above, but they don't. Specifically: Drain and Spin starts the RINSE cycle unless you have OPTIONS set to OFF or EXTRA RINSE; and: Water pours in cold in the first 15 seconds after opening/closing the lid, even if the setting is on HOT. The techs on the phone told me this means the machine is defective. I almost returned it, but I was concerned that the replacement machine would do the same thing. So I kept experimenting and figured out that these quirks are probably normal. My recommendation is: Write down your settings for future reference; also, how much water is in the tub, and how hot the water is. There are many possible combinations of settings. What you write down should include: "Did I open the lid?” “Did I press Pause/Start?” These minor details make a big difference in the temperature of the water that pours into the machine. Also, note how deep the clothes were, and how deep the water level was, so you’ll know for the future, which water level setting to use. Some people complained that the sounds were like a sick duck or a cow giving birth. Well, if you want a machine that plays Glory Hallelujah, you're in for a disappointment. This machine is not loud. And mine did not vibrate and walk across the floor as some other people said it did.
