Nice Washer With Lots of Features

This washer is a bit of a compromise, and I'll try to explain it the best I can. My wife wanted a washer a top load washer with an agitator, dial controls (don't ask me why) and the ability to manually set the water fill level. After quite a bit of searching and researching, we decided on this one. It checks all of the boxes that my wife wanted. Washers with agitators seem to me like they are making a resurgence. When we were looking for a washer 10 years ago, it seemed like all of the HE washers had the little spinners in the bottom of the tub. Now it seems like almost every manufacturer makes both versions of washers. I like having a choice. There are plenty of washers with dials instead of touch controls so that was easy, and the truth is that I really didn't care either way. A digital countdown of time remaining would have been nice, but if Momma' ain't happy... There are also plenty of washers with Deep Fill or some such button or setting, but we got mixed feelings about how well that actually works. We certainly didn't want to have to monitor how much water was in the tub and add more if necessary, so we decided we wanted control over that function. I was shocked at how hard that was to find in a decent washer. This washer met all of our requirements, so we pulled the trigger. Here are our observations: We are pleasantly surprised in how quickly it washes a load of clothes. 38 minutes on regular cycle/single rinse is awesome. It also has a 'Quick Wash' feature, and I honestly can't imagine how it could be any quicker. The one issue that we have with the washer is that it is not quiet. The previous Kenmore top load washer we had was SO MUCH quieter than this one, I was a little surprised when we ran the first load. With our old Kenmore, we would have to go and check to see if it was finished because you could NOT hear it running - period. It was awesome. The down side of that washer was that it also took FOREVER to wash a load of clothes, so we found ourselves walking into the laundry room all the time, checking to see if the washer was finished. My wife hated that aspect of our old washer. For us, it was more important that we get the features that we absolutely wanted. The bonus is that it also has a VERY fast wash cycle. The fact that it makes some noise is just not that big of a deal for us. If quiet operation is your main requirement, I would suggest you look at a different machine as this one is not quiet. The amount of sound it makes isn't objectionable or anything - it is just a good bit different than the one we had before.

This washer is good overall. Just a little noisy it's washes really well and that all that matters to me. The agitator was the main reason why I purchased this washer. I noticed that the agitator cleans my clothes better and keeps the washer for staying balanced.

11 months since purchase washer has developed a very loud squeak when the agitator moves. Next available time to have someone come out and look at it is 3 weeks. Add this to the list of modern GE appliance failures, cooktop, and refrigerator.

my old washer died unexpectedly (it was old) so needed to quickly replace it. this GE was the best one I could find in this price range after doing a little research. It has been working well over the last month of having it. The only thing I miss from the old one is being able to rinse the detergent. The water does not run when the top is open, but I do like the lock feature while running. Love the options this washer provides and hopefully it will last as long as my old one.

I was looking for something that resembled a real washer. I think I found it. A nice big tub with an agitator. News flash you have a choice of water levels so no more stinky clothes. Has precise fill, low, med, high, max and a deep fill water level option on it. That I can choose from. The lid only seems to lock.on the spin cycle. Quite the concept. It also has a few rinse and spin options as well as soak options. Quite a few cycle options as well. Finally a washer that I can tell it how to my laundry instead of it telling me. Thanks GE and Best Buy!

Absolutely love that this machine allows me to soak for timed amounts also allows me to choose amount of water !!! I have blue collar workers who need water to fully cover clothing to wash them . I had Maytag that only added what it wanted wrinkled all my clothes because it was “he” . This machine washed great. A little noisy but who cares in my opinion it truly cleans my clothes and doesn’t wrinkle most which I need to hang up

    New Washer

We've had this washing machine for about 2 months now and we love it. It does a very good job of getting our clothes clean and is energy efficient. It only uses as much water as is needed for the load you're doing. There are so many different settings...one for every type of load you might do including active wear! It does make some strange noises when running, but you get used to them. It's a fairly quiet machine overall.

I absolutely love my washer! It’s super easy to use. I have dogs and the deep clean option really cleans their blankets well. It has an area to put the fabric softener so it disperses properly, that was a selling factor for us. The basket for the clothes is pretty big so you can wash jeans. The really love the options for what kind of laundry you are doing. All in all it’s a great product.

Washes SO well, but lacks reliability

Currently about to purchase my second. My grandmother purchased a previous model of this version back around 2007 and was sad she left it with the house when she moved. I too loved hers, so when I needed to purchase a washer back in 2016, I purchased the then current model and LOVED IT. I had to have a few warranty calls on it in 5 years, and it literally lasted one day short of its 5 year warranty. After spending months researching what else is out there and watching youtube videos of actual wash cycles, and that was also available through Best Buy because of the warranty claim, nothing else they carry compares to the clean this provides. ** it is not a 1:1 trade, because GE changed the verbiage of the load sizes and the Heavy colors load is now DeepClean.** It gets four stars for needing replacement belts after a few years, and a circuit board replacement followed by transmission failure in the last few months of its life because really... it should last longer than that with normal household use in a two-person household.

It is a sturdy washer with a huge stainless-steel tub. Major agitator action however, it is considerably noisier than I expected.

    LOUD

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this washer because it showed a knob where I can control water levels like washers used to be before the government got involved and started regulating everything. I come to find out after using this that the water level in button is a useless decoration. You have to read the owner's manual 13 times in order to figure out how to actually get the load to fill with water fully. Additionally this is an extremely loud washer. For the price of the washer you would think that the manufacturer GE would be able to put some insulation in the unit in order to make it quieter. This washer is located in my basement and I can hear it clear up stairs. It is awful to spend this much on a washing machine and have it be so loud. I don't understand why manufactures do not listen to the consumer. They make whatever they want and we are forced to buy this junk.

They apologized for the missing parts. A manufacturer’s oversight, they were not in the box. Customer service said they would send the parts and call us. Neither thing ever happened. The men that installed it were fast, courteous and hard working. They helped my husband attach a clamp that we found in the garage. The washer is really loud. Had I not read a lot of comments and expected that, I would have sent it back. Undiluted fabric softener is at the bottom of the washer when I transfer clothes to the dryer. Not sure how that is happening.

This washer and dryer are noisy. However, my clothes have never been cleaner. Clean clothes, quick drying, no shrinkage. This set is in my apartment and I will be purchasing it for my own place. I previously had a top of the line LG front loading set, but this set gets the clothes cleaner!!!

We love this washer machine. We can control how much water we would like for each load of clothes. It is a little loud but that's ok for me. It cleans very well.
