Worst washing machine ever. It’s a crime

Probably the worst washing machine ever built or conceived. You have to some skill at structural engineering to load the the thing. One panty out of place and the machine will bounce around, literally across the floor; meanwhile making a racket as the barrel bangs against the insides. Seems inconceivable that no one at the test center saw this. In any case once that banging and bouncing happens it has to start the spin cycle over again. It does this by adding more water which helps the agitator redistribute the clothes. Seems like a good idea but apparently the machine is no better than I am at clothes distribution and the thing bangs and bounces again. It’ll do this cycle/start-restart forever if you don’t stop it. The waste of 100s of gallons over the year we’ve had it is mindboggling. It’s crazy. Whoever designed this thing should be banned from the industry. The testers should equally be banned. This washer is a crime against laundry.

    TERRIBLE QUALITY!

Purchased this GE washer with a matching GE dryer on (order date) 8/10/21. Initial washer delivered was dented, but the Best Buy installer told us they still had to take our old washer and couldn't leave the dented one while we waited for the replacement. The initial dryer delivered (same time as the washer) was installed incorrectly, causing a gas smell throughout our laundry room for approximately a week, the earliest they could bring the replacement washer & dryer. My complaint (case # 267666481) went without a response, even though a Best Buy phone representative said someone would get back to me in 24 hours. Never happened! It wasn't until I visited the store a 2nd week later, after returning from a business trip that a manager at the store listened to me. When the 2nd washer and dryer delivery was made, the Best Buy set up representative acknowledged, after inspection, the initial dryer delivered was hooked up wrong and quote "could have caused problems". Now for the washer: Its complete junk!! The past month has been nothing but out of balance issues as has been CLEARLY STATED in many reviews prior to this one. I laugh at the manual that says "balance the load" and / or floor levels". This machine bounces around so much it runs into my laundry room walls, along with the noise and velocity of the inner tub banging against the outer walls of the washing machine itself, to the point family members won"t even stay in an adjacent room, because of the distraction, let alone the excess water issue. WAKE UP GE AND INSTEAD OF ALL YOUR "Dear customer, we are sorry" responses, ACKNOWLEDGE YOU HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM AND FIX YOUR ISSUE. If this is happening to a machine just 4+ months old, what repair is next? If retailers like Best Buy, Home Depot, and Big Box stores would DISCONTINUE 3 / 4 of all the manufacturers skus they represent at store level, maybe these same manufacturers would wake up and inject some lasting quality into their products at the expense of profit. The store manager was actually nice enough to discount my bill a bit, but what's the point if a product does not work properly and is worth nothing to begin with because I now have to buy another washer? This IS BY FAR THE WORSE CONSUMER PRODUCT I HAVE EVER OWNED AND NEVER AGAIN. If there were a zero star in the Overall Rating Section" that would be my choice!

Hello. We appreciate you letting us know of your situation, though we sincerely hate to hear you have had issues with both the installation and operation of your washer and dryer. That is not reflective of the quality ownership experience we want to provide for you, and we’d like to help. Regarding the trouble you had with incorrect installation of the dryer and a delay in getting replacement units, you may want to direct those concerns to Best Buy’s Customer Service directly. We do truly regret that you’ve also had issues with the washer after the replacement – we know any trouble with recurring out-of-balance issues, and excessive noise and water, would be troubling. The model going out of balance can often be resolved by redistributing the load in the washer and running a Drain & Spin cycle. Ensuring the washer is level by adjusting the leveling legs on the unit itself (by rotating the individual leg either up or down) can also help cut down on excessive movement or vibration. If you are unable to resolve the washer concerns, our Service Department is available at 1-800-432-2737; a technician would be able to properly diagnose and repair the issues with the washer. Notice of the trouble you’ve had will also be sent to our Laundry Products Design team for future review and consideration; we value your insights, as we always want to ensure we’re aware of any possible areas of concern. We genuinely value you as a GE consumer, and going forward we will work to earn back your faith in our brand. If you have any other concerns or inquiries, we are happy to offer assistance any time. -Sarah@GEA GE_Appliances

    A joke of a washer.

If I could give this washer zero stars I would! It ruined my clothes already and I just purchased it. Theres no way to speed up the washing time if you're in a hurry, it splatters the softener all over the place, and you can forget about clean clothes because it will make the softener stain them. Not to mention the hideous loud noise it makes.

    Truly Dreadful

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really hated the locking devise. Sometimes, you really want to readjust a load during the spin. It filled up 1/2 full--max, which meant doing smaller loads and forget blankets (not enough water to rinse). AND it didn't even make it 2 years before the gearbox needed replaced (for $600+). Off to find a new washer and it won't be a GE. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to buy this thing.

Hi there, we appreciate you finding the time to reach out to us with your honest feedback. We're sorry you were unhappy with the locking device and that you're not getting as much water as you'd like. We can understand how aggravating this would be for you. We'll be sure to let our design here your thoughts on the locking device for future reference and as for the water level, the Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. We want to thank you for reaching out and let you know we're wishing you the best. - Guy@GEA GE_Appliances

I’ve had this dryer since mid June. On wash three, it started to go bad. The washer would just shut off mid way through the cycle, and I had to hand wring my clothes to get out the water!!!! After 30 minutes, still no success with it starting over the cycle. They next day, it worked like nothing happened. Then it happened again!!!! I’m so frustrated that you buy a washer to wash your clothes, and this is what happens!!!! Will not recommend at all!

    GE Impeller Washer

I bought the impeller version - absolutely hate this washer: difficult to get the load balanced properly, can't wash sheets and towels together (even tho a specific setting for it), takes far too long for most settings, does a poor job of spinning. I'd get rid of it if I could. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this type!

    Where's the Water??

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I chose this machine because of its large drum size - I'd like to clean as much clothes in a load as possible. The drum has a height of about 19 inches. Here's the problem: with the 'Deep Fill' option selected and the water level set to Max, it fills with 5 inches of water. You can't wash much clothes with 5 inches of water!! Had a GE service person here and he said it was working normally.

Do not buy! Save yourself the grief and headache!

May 2022 made a purchase to replace a waaher that lasted my household 10 years!! Sales person told me this was a very good machine, I would love it!! From day one, have not happy with this washer. Never enough water to ensure a proper clean wash. Sometimes clothes removed after a complete cycle are still dry. This washer has caused me so much grief and frustration!! Also on puchase the washer made a horrible noise durinf the wash cycle. Called a tech, took them three weeks to fix. Water level issue has never been fixed. Waste more time trying to make sure the clothes being waahed have enough water to move around and be cleaned. So would not recommend this "high efficiency " washer from GE!! Might as well wash your clothes by hand. Currently in the martket for another washing machine. Total failure.. GE needs to retest this washers. Need a recall on them.
