The machine will make noise if the weight and water levels are not enough to maintain a balance but the machine does adjust the water to the proper level based on the volume and weight of the clothes.

Nice washer, just not for small loads.

Had to take them out and swap in another load of laundry to get things moving. I don't know if the drum just got unbalanced or what but it hit hard twice and then has worked fine since. That was about a week ago.
