Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the large capacity, cleaning ability, and ease of use of the 4.6 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer. Many appreciate its strong washing performance and find it a good value for the price. However, some customers note that the washer can be noisy and that the spin cycle may present challenges if the load is unbalanced. The machine's tendency to become unbalanced is also a recurring concern.

    Don't get an infusor

I've had this washer for 4 mos. I didn't like it from the first wash but I waited to review it to see if I liked it any better after using it for a while. I like it less. The thing I dislike the most is the infusor. All my clothes get very tangled but especially my sheets. They literally get tied in knots and it's hard to even get them out to put them in the dryer. If I could trade this washer for the same one with an agitator I would do so but I'm stuck with a 4 mo. old washer that I really, really don't like at all.

GE has taken water efficiency engineering too far

We very rarely write reviews, but we are so unhappy with this washer that we felt compelled to do so. As other reviewers have mentioned you just can't get the right/enough of a water level in this washer to clean your clothes or not have them smelling so strongly of laundry detergent. GE has taken their water efficiency engineering too far! It is our hope that someone from GE sees this and offers to help with this very disappointing and expensive purchase.

Hey there, we're sorry to see you're unhappy with the with the water level in your washer. We can absolutely understand how this would be annoying so we apologize for any headaches caused as well. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. With that said, we'll be sure to share your feedback with our design team for future consideration. For additional assistance, we suggest the following advice: Use the correct amount and type of detergent, load carefully, and select the right amount of water and settings for your load size. Also, keep the lid closed during the wash cycle. Step 1: Select the right amount and type of detergent. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended amount for your load. Pre-treat stains if needed. If your washer has an infusor or precise-fill setting, you should use HE (High Efficiency) detergent. HE detergent is a low sudsing detergent. Contrary to other applications, suds in a washing machine can reduce cleaning performance. Step 2: Loosely load the clothing into the washer basket around of the outside of the basket. Pouring and/or compacting the load can lead to poor cleaning performance and increase wrinkling and tangling. Do not wrap items around the agitator or infusor as that can lead to increased wrinkling. Step 3: Close the lid. Select the settings for your washer cycle. Several washers can select the correct amount of water. Clothing that floats in the water may not get the optimum turnover to clean properly. Keep the lid closed during the entire wash cycle. We hope you're able to find this information useful and we're wishing you the best. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. - Guy@GEA GE_Appliances

We changed the washing machine and they sent a technician and even so the washing machine didn't do its job, it literally washed without water, I watched videos, I looked for help and it didn't help, anyway, they ended up changing to an LG, I definitely DON'T buy it I know it's a problem with the brand

This machine is not very good at washing clothes. It doesn't fill up all the way and because of this it leaves detergent stains. Stains that do not come out. I have ruined so many good articles of clothing and I've only had the machine since April- less than 3 months. I have reached out to GE and have gotten no assistance. I would really like to exchange this machine for one that actually does the job a washer is suppose to do- WASH my clothes.

I could not get it fill up with water. I put my husband's work clothes half laundry. it did not took the dirt off and did not spin/ did not took all the water out when done. Cloth was still dirty and wet. I washed it 4 times not good. Tried with kids clothes nop still had soap on it when finished washing. I called them for help how it works and they just say It does not used that much water. So am I supposed to wash 4 clothes at time? Water did not fill, not even small loads. I used it 4 days and I could not get it to leave clothes clean and fill up with water.

Hello, thank you for your review. We are sincerely sorry that you have not been pleased with the water level of your new washer. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary.
