Broke after season, and the warranty.

Worked Great for 1 season. In second season of use, it stopped working as an Air conditioner, and kept getting filled with water, requiring emptying, in an impossible feat of gyration. It's an expensive 1 season of use device. Don't buy it unless you want it for 1 season. Warranty had expired.

The unit is less than 2 years old and no longer producing cold air. Window unit 10 yrs old still works and cost way less.

    Avoid if going vertical

If planning on going vertical, don't bother. Unless your window is toddler sized and down near the floor there is no way you'll be able to get the hose connected properly.

Hello and thank you for choosing GEA to keep you cool this summer. We're sorry to hear installation did not go as smoothly as it should have. The air conditioner comes with a 5' exhaust hose and can be installed in window openings 20" to 46" wide (or tall if installing vertically). If you have any trouble, we are always available on social media. Thanks so much. - John@GEA GE_Appliances

Just buy a window unit. This thing freezes up no matter what temperature you set it at, and the condensation pan fills up constantly, would not recommend to anyone.

Hello and thanks so much for reaching out about your portable air conditioner. We're happy to hear from you but apologize for the issues you have brought to our attention. When the internal water tank fills, the unit will stop and the Full light will come on. When first using the air conditioner, the tank will fill more often and quicker. Once the air and everything inside have been dehumidified, the water collection will go down drastically. We hope this helps. - John@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

    Worked Great, But Then

The unit is convenient. Not too heavy and easily maneuverable from room to room. It worked great for first year and half. Then it stopped self evaporating and constantly had to be drained or have a drain hose and bucket hooked up for it to run. Even then its effectiveness seemed diminished. I got tired of the constant drainage and went and bought another unit and different brand.

    Poorly manufactured window kit

Installation is horrible. Product guide says it will fit windows between 20-46 inches. We have a 35 inch window and there is no way that this will work. The guide says from 20 to 33 inches you only need one side panel, for 33-46 you need both. The manual also shows a diagram of the window exhaust kit with the opening for the exhaust off center. The exhaust kit we received is straight in the middle, which means with both side panels, the minimum window opening would be about 39 inches. But it is too short with the single panel. We cannot lock the window panel due to this. the exhaust hose and the window opening do not firmly lock into place, so there is a gap. The side panels do not sit flush with the window track or the window itself, again leaving a gap. The plastic ring around the hose that connects to the back on the unit has fallen off multiple times. The weight of the hose pulls the window kit out of the window track, again leaving a gap. The exhaust hose already shows signs of wear after installation alone. If we happen to need to move the unit, the hose pops out of the back of the machine, with the ring still screwed in. I truly do not understand how this product is worth nearly $600. But unless you want to deal with cheaply made parts, spend your money elsewhere. We will now be purchasing weather stripping to fix the gaps in the window and duct tape for the hose and if that does not work we will not be purchasing GE appliances any longer and be looking into returning this very overpriced product. I hope it cools well as you purchase an AC unit for the cooling, not to wrestle with plastic parts for 30 minutes in the heat of summer. Disappointing.

    Great product

I really like this product and consider it an upgrade from my Insignia portable AC. It has about the same cooling power as the insignia unit but is much quieter and doesn't make a big noise when the Freon fires up. As someone who is pretty experienced with these type of units this one is pretty good. Only knock is that the window outlet is low quality and needs to be about 2ft longer. I switched the window outlet with another unit to meet my length requirements. The hole in the window attachment is also in the middle vs the bottom. If you have a vertical window this will cause you to come up short reaching the distance needed. For the price point the window hook up should be much higher quality, however; you can get an upgrade window hookup for a good price at Home Depot. The Wifi feature is really cool and gives me peace of mind using the unit for prolonged periods of time while away knowing i can shut it off remotely. Overall, pretty pleased except for the minor point above.
