  • Key Specs
    • Recommended Room Size: 450 square feet (The recommended area size in which the product is designed to operate and produce optimal results, such as the desired heating or cooling. Generally, running a unit too big or too small for the space will result in ineffective operation and wasted energy.)
    • DOE SACC Cooling Power: 8200 british thermal units (The Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity (SACC), implemented by the Department of Energy (DOE) after 2017, is a rating of a portable AC unit's cooling power. This rating is based on revised testing that more accurately measures a portable unit's performance, taking into account that these units do not vent heat in the same way as wall or window units and therefore were not cooling as effectively as the previous BTU ratings indicated (based on the ASHRAE-128 standard prior to 2017). Generally, the new cooling power ratings are lower than previous BTU ratings and can more reasonably be compared to the cooling capacities of other types of AC units.)
    • ASHRAE Cooling Power: 12000 british thermal units (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) rates the cooling power, or capacity, of portable AC units based on their effectiveness in cooling a single room as intended. Prior to 2017, this was the accepted standard used for comparison with other types of AC units. However, it did not accurately reflect the cooling power as it did not account for the heat emitted from the unit that would circulate back into the space. The Department of Energy (DOE) Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity (SACC) standard is now used to determine appropriate BTU ratings of portable AC units.)
    • Number of Cool Settings: 3
    • Number of Fan Speeds: 3
    • Airflow Rate: 235 cubic feet per minute
    • Remote Control: true
    • Integrated Heater: false
    • Sleep Mode: false (Enabling this mode sets the unit to first reach the desired temperature, then gradually increase the temperature over a period of time until it reaches a new set temperature, typically several degrees higher than the initial cool setting. This mode helps save energy while keeping the room comfortable.)
    • Timer: true
    • Auto Shut-Off: false (Feature automatically turns off the product.)
    • Window Venting Kit: true (Indicates whether supplies for venting the unit through a window are included.)
    • Energy Efficiency Ratio: 7.3 (The ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) at a given operating point. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)
    • Combined Energy Efficiency Ratio (CEER): 4.94 (The standard used to measure energy efficiency in window and room air conditioners by the Department of Energy (DOE) as of June of 2014. CEER measures the ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) in standby mode and while the unit is operating. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)
    • App Compatible: true (The product can be connected to a program or software application on a mobile device, which then receives collected data from the product.)
    • Wireless Connectivity: Wi-Fi (The manner in which a device sends data to another device over a short distance without the use of wires or cables.)
    • Air Conditioner Type: Portable
    • Hose Configuration: Single (Generally, dual hose configurations are more efficient and better suited for cooling larger areas. Single hose configurations typically consume less energy and are best for cooling smaller spaces.)

Product Manuals

Q: Does this unit require a drain hose or does it have a collection bucket I can empty?

A: It has a drain hose. It does not have a collection bucket that can be removed. You only need to drain it if you are using the system for a dehumidifier or live in very high humidity climate using the A/C function. It will warn you if it needs to be emptied. It does have a self-evaporating system but will only be able to evaporate small amounts of condensation from living in a normal climate using the A/C function.

Q: What type of filter does this unit have? Is it washable?

A: Hello, Thanks so much for reaching out. This unit has built in filters that should be cleaned every two weeks for the best performance. They can be washed or vacuumed. Check page 7 of the manual for instructions. https://files.bbystatic.com/qOm76QrVOf2DkN4aVgdPrg%3D%3D/8DC6C5A4-5938-48A0-8398-323799225B30.pdf. Stay well! Mike@GEA

Q: I bought this unit and cannot keep the fan running while the a/c is off when the thermostat reaches the desired temp. So it goes continuously from loud blowing sound to silence all night long. Is there a way to keep the fan running? Most a/c units do it.

A: I've had two of these now (after being told the first was defective) and both behaved the same way. Turns out this is a "feature" and not a bug and no one in their support system has any clue whatsoever...

Q: It has a hose to put water in if I’m correct ?? But how and where if your able to ?! This is a new GE portable AC so we are confused

A: No, you don’t need to put a water hose in or on it at all. It’s completely water free (evaporates water in the room actually.... removes it by blowing it out the wide hot air hose that goes out the window). There is no collection bucket for water, you don’t add water... you don’t have to deal at all with water. Just chill.

Q: How long can I run this unit without turning off?

A: Hello - Thanks for your question; we are glad to assist. There is no limit in time you can run this unit without turning it off. Thanks for checking. Olga@GEA

Q: Because this is a 'smart' portable AC unit that is Wi-Fi enabled, does it work with/is it compatible with other 'smart home' devices such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa?

A: I actually was able to answer my question after purchasing! This AC DOES work with Google Assistant by linking it with GE's associated SmartHQ service. It's great!
