Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great clothes dryer when it works. The control knob broke and the replacement lasted all of 7 months. We are an older couple so we aren't abusing the dryer with heavy use. Expected more from GE products. We had a GE washer and dryer in our old house that lasted over 10 years. We are going on year number 3 with this set and I've had the washer repaired once and this is the second time for the dryer. Poor quality - would never buy another GE set. I don't expect to get 10 years from this poorly manufactured set.

Almost an excellent dryer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this dryer a few weeks ago and said to myself I finally got my money's worth. But after 4 or 5 loads I noticed lint dust covering everything in my trailer. The machine is whisper quiet, runs as smooth as could be but there was one major flaw and that was the door. Not only did it have a cheap rubber seal gasket but the door itself was designed poorly in my opinion letting out the hot dusty dryer air into the room. Too bad, it was a really well made dryer otherwise.

Get a higher end one if you can afford it

The first time was just after it was two months old. Was making some kind of horrible grinding sound. Metal had fallen into it and what was causing the sound? Now it blows nothing but cold air...in the middle of the summer. My guess is that its the heating element. Irritated that I paid for the geek squad extended warranty and its going to take them a freaking week to come out to even look at it. Not acceptable. Lets just say I will be saving up for a new one and will NOT be buying it from best buy.

A new erra for GE - Junk product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stay away! We've had the dryer now for 2.5 years, and it is one problem after another. First and foremost, it is a fire hazard! The lint screen doesn't catch much because of the poor design. If you buy this dryer, plan to clean your vents at least twice a year. I don't understand why consumers have not been notified of this flaw since this is a massive safety issue. Secondly, the dryer makes a grinding noise, and it is out of balance randomly. Bottom line, we're in the market for a new dryer. I thought I would leave my feedback so the new buyers would be aware of what they're getting. How disappointing for this to happen to an amazing GE company! The brand used to mean quality, but not anymore.

BRAND NEW DEAD DRYER
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As a quality manager, I would be ashamed if a customer received a product in the condition that I received this dryer. Completely dead upon arrival. The guy who installed it said it could be my circuit breaker or some nonsense, but I tested the outlet with a multimeter and got the exact reading that I shouldv'e. I also checked the installer's wiring job, which was good. Anyway, I already went ahead and began the return process and will purchase Samsung washer and dryer instead of the GE's. I will never buy from that brand again. If you are reading this, save yourself the extra couple of weeks of not having a washer and dryer, and buy from some other brand. This is not a reflection on Best Buy, just GE.

DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Here we were thinking if we spent the money well our washer and dryer would last until we are ready to sell our 5 year home.. yeah then here comes December 5 month 5 MONTHS. and the heating is not working! company never responds and this is probably the most wasteful thing! so while on the hunt to fix it our self we have no idea what is wrong with it! so thank you GE AND BEST BUY for helping us know we will never buy another GE product.. look everywhere for reviews because on here they are good on GE and anywhere else they are not.. i would go lower than 1 star if i could.. NO brand new dryer should quit working after 5 months.. and after talking to friends and family that recommended this to us a couple months later there’s stopped working and plus before it did the dry time is crazy long it doesn’t dry well to begin with!

Do Not Buy

Every time I have to wait for someone to come look at the dryer then wait even longer for the parts. Leaving me without a dryer for weeks at a time. They have already replaced everything in the dryer and the service guy told me he could take out the fuse but it may be unsafe, I told him not to if it would make the dryer unsafe. I do not recommend this dryer it has been nothing but trouble for my family and I.

Hate this dryer

Lasted 15 months.

By the end of the summer, the heat no longer works. So if I want to dry clothes, I need to put it on airdry for several hours. Don’t waste your money. My mom has an LG that was outside warranty that they fixed for free. I should have spent the extra money. Don’t waste yours.

Waste of money. Buyer Beware!

Almost immediately, the door latch stopped working properly so that I had to lean on it hard in order to start the dryer (a complaint I had read about in online reviews). Then within 2 1/2 years, the dryer died completely and didn’t start at all. I paid several hundred dollars for a GE repairman to fix the problem. My mistake! Less then 3 months later it completely stopped working once again. I asked whether they offered 90 day guarantee on the repair and they replied NO, SORRY. I’m not sinking any more money into this lemon.

Common timer switch problem!

Called and got tech. out to tell me it is not under warranty and to get one on Amazon. I should have returned the machine the first week but it is hard to get most dryers to replace it.

Dont buy

Service guy, knew what the problem was over the phone, said good ol GE, common problem.

Don’t buy!

I requested them to extend the warranty, so they did for 6 months. I have often had to unplug it, plug it back in and then it would work again. But now it’s not working again at our 2 year mark. Don’t waste your money!

After 5 years....
