    Love the ice! I use distilled water so I haven’t had any mechanical issues. BUT it is noisy

    Purchased over a year ago. It’s quick, convenient and work the price. I like that I can control from cell when leaving home for periods of time.

    stopped working after 45 days, started to make this loud terrible sound and went through all the trouble shooting only to call and make a claim with the warranty company outside best buy. They sent a "refurbished" machine that came covered in dust and grime and the best part is that it doesn't even work. I am now going 6 months with no ice machine and a "promise" that one is on it's way. Better off grabbing a bag of ice every week from the store. Best buy can't do anything to help at this point.

    I have had this for over a week and have loved everyday getting ice. I believe I have used more ice in the last 7 days than I did all year. Worth every dollar

    Really like the unit. Ordered the black stainless steel but received the regular stainless steel. Too much of an inconvenience to return so i kept what was sent.

    Love this ice maker, I have neen wanting one for a while but thought it was a bit pricey. Decided to take the plunge during black friday sale and it os worth every penny and them some

    If I could give this zero stars I would. After reading mixed reviews for this item I pulled the trigger and purchased one of these units. Thank goodness for BestBuys 45 day return policy. The unit was a complete disappointment from day one. It is advertised that it will produce 1 pound/hour. This is a lie. It took about 24 hours to fill the 3 lb ice bin. The unit ran constantly and never would produce more than about 3 lbs every 24 hours. I figured the unit must be defective due to the lack of ice production and constantly going from “Making Ice” mode to “Defrost” mode. After about a week of listening to this thing constantly running and making a disappointing amount of ice I returned to the store and exchanged it. I do have to say thanks to the local BestBuy staff helping me exchange units. Once home I set up the new unit being sure to carefully follow the provided instructions. I went to bed that night with high expectations to wake up and find the 3 lb ice bin full of ice. Nope. Not even close. Just like the first unit I had the bin was less than 1/2 full after running over 10 hours. There was just enough ice to fill my mug before heading to work. Later that day I came home to find the ice maker less that half full again. Just enough to fill a single mug with ice for dinner. This half full, fill a mug, wait 12 hours to fill again then empty repeated for a month. I called GE told them the situation and that I was even using bottled water in the unit. They said making 1 lb of ice per hour is optimal for the unit and that it sounded like the unit was indeed working correctly. I finally got around to returning the second unit to the store a few days before the 45 day closing window ended. Again thanks to BestBuy for taking this piece of junk ice maker off of my hands. When I received the power bill for the full month that I had the GE Opal ice maker plugged in and running and it was a full 12 dollars higher than the previous and following months. After this experience I have to say it will be a cold day in …… before I purchase an appliance from GE. With a price of nearly 700$ I expected far far more than I got not once but TWICE.

    This is by far one of the best decisions I have made in purchasing a high end Appliance.

    I will NEVER Buy another GE product,… since they don’t back their products! The last one didn’t want just a video, like the 1 before. The last time they asked for everything but blood! This was my 3rd one & they sent me another that didn’t work after 3 weeks. But, now I have 2 GE opal Ice Machines sitting in my garage collecting dust! $1000 worth of ice machines! What a waste of money & time!! I am so upset! GE doesn’t care. I told them I have had the same exact thing happen to 4 GE Opal ice machines and they don’t care!!! Save yourself time and MONEY! DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!

    Christmas Day Disappointment

    Today, is Christmas day. Unfortunately, this product was a Christmas present and is defective. I am extremely disappointed especially because this is a Christmas present and expensive. The water container has water residue, the top of the machine is open showing the wiring inside, the box arrived disheveled, and there was no directions. This product was bought new. I am incredibly disappointed and have never had this happen with Best Buy.
