I cant speak on the longevity of it, but my wife is in love with it. Its the GOOD ice. If it last it will be beyond wonderful.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with this machine. Initially, it worked great—making ice quickly and without any issues. However, after three years of careful maintenance, including weekly cleaning as recommended, the machine started leaking water all over my kitchen. It seemed like the water was leaking from inside the machine itself. I reached out to GE, fully aware that the one-year warranty had expired. I was hoping they could at least offer a technician to repair it. To my surprise, they told me they don’t provide any repair services for this machine and suggested that I simply buy a new one. I find it unbelievable that their solution to a $600 machine breaking down is just to replace it, especially when they don’t offer any replacement parts or repair options. From the reviews I’ve read, it seems I’m lucky it lasted three years—others have had it fail within months. If you do decide to purchase this machine, I strongly recommend getting an extended warranty; otherwise, you might end up wasting $600, as there’s no way to repair or even disassemble the machine since everything is welded together.

I absolutely love my ice maker. I can start in from another room, or even schedule it when to start.

But the bullet and ordered this machine after a poor experience with a cheap amazon ice maker. After a few weeks using this one I’d have to echo some of the other 5 star reviews I read before buying. It’s much more quiet than our old nugget I’ve maker, makes ice more quickly, and makes a lot of it!

This is partly my fault so I don't want to bad mouth this ice maker, it just is not going to suit my needs and I think the product description could be considerably better. I like a minimum of 50 lbs of ice for fishing, about 20 for food and beverage and at least 30 for fish. When I saw that it's a 24# ice maker I thought this could work, realizing that I'd have to dump ice several times in a cooler. What I did not know, and what appears no where in the description, is that the bin is a paltry 3 lbs. That means I'd have to start making ice the morning before a trip and dump it into an extremely high quality cooler a couple of dozen times. Since I normally know I'll only be fishing during the weekends it could work I suppose. I could make ice during the week and then have this as a nifty party ice maker for at-home social events. Anyway, this is the review I wish I'd have had the benefit of reading before purchase. If you're not needing as much ice as me, this could be a good fit.

Do not waste your money on this machine. While it is a great ice maker and we love the ice it made, it dies after about a year. You would think a machine that cost $600 would last longer than a year. We took great care of our machine cleaned it regularly and only used distilled water in it as recommended yet it only lasted a little over a year. You are better off just going to sonic and buying a bag of ice to keep in your freezer than buying this machine.

Got this as a Christmas gift for my wife. She loves it. Not too loud. Just make sure you have the counter space for it. Definitely recommend if you are a nugget ice lover. It will reduce the cups of chic fila ice in my freezer lol.

Bought it open box. It was listed as Excellent condition. However it was missing the bottom tray. Other than that, the ice maker works as new.

It was a hit Christmas present for my wife who loves ice from Sonic. Easy set up and had ice in about 15 minutes. It kept up with a house full of guest during the holidays.
