Which helps me get past the point that it seems a little pricey. There is nothing like having soft ice nuggets available anytime i want. My drinks taste better and my husband always has ice to chew on. I am so happy to have it!

Posted .While we’re glad you love your Opal, we hate to hear you’re not happy with the cleaning process; your feedback will be shared with our team. We do want to make maintenance of the unit as simple and convenient as possible, and if it might be useful we have cleaning instructions starting on page 7 of the manual. If you’d like to view the manual, you can do so on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page.
Opal 2.0 Ice Maker Met or Exceeded My Expectations

The initial cleaning process before use was somewhat time consuming but not difficult. Other than that setup was a breeze. It has been working flawlessly and I have made about 10 batches of ice.

I can’t believe how long it keeps the ice cold after I turn it off (and I mean like overnight there is still ice). Can’t wait to enjoy it for years to come!

I loved the ice and apart from having to make sure door was completely closed, I had few issues until it started leaking 1 year and a half after purchase. Not great longevity for the price. It started leaking internally and is not able to be fixed. If you do buy… get the extended warranty!

The GE Opal 2.0 is well built and looks beautiful on the counter. The instructions are clear and set up is easy. It will be a welcome addition to any home.

We love the ice the machine produced but over time it became very inconsistent, some times it would make good ice. Other times, half ice half slush. The down side is the ice machine does not keep the ice frozen so use it or lose it. I ended up cleaning it twice a week. It was still inconsistent, so we ended up renting it. It’s a but on the pricier side to pay for inconsistency.
