We really enjoy having nugget ice at home the only negative thing we have experienced is the machine telling us to add water when the side tank has water. It’s almost like there is air trapped so it won’t keep going. I usually lift the tank and set it back a couple time to get the air out.

My wife and I bought this for my mother-in-law and I got major props for it. The ice is really good and it is really quick at making more.

As a younger tech-savvy guy, I thought this high-end ice maker would be a great addition. Instead, I got a glorified paperweight with LEDs. Let’s start with the Wi-Fi setup it’s absolutely useless. I tried every trick in the book: resetting the machine, switching Wi-Fi bands, updating firmware, uninstalling/reinstalling the SmartHQ app. Still nothing. GE’s app is buggy garbage, and support just sends you generic copy paste replies. The design is flawed too. The lid is finicky, the sensors act up constantly, and the side tank is awkward to fill and doesn’t sit right. The noise level is higher than expected, and don’t even think about using it in a quiet kitchen or small apartmentit hums and clicks like it’s fighting demons inside. Reliability? Within the first week it started having random shutdowns. No error messages, no warningjust shuts off. Then the machine began acting like it’s full when it’s clearly not. Restarting it became a daily ritual. Not what I signed up for with a $600+ appliance. Bottom line: Don’t let the sleek look fool you. GE slapped a nice finish on a product that barely functions. The “smart” features are broken, the machine is temperamental, and for this price, I expected excellencenot endless headaches. I’m returning this overpriced boat anchor and advising everyone to look elsewhere. GE really fumbled hard with this one.

I’ve had the GE Opal 2.0 ice maker for less than 6 months, and it has completely stopped working. I followed all the recommended troubleshooting steps — cleaning, resetting, unplugging, you name it. Nothing worked. The worst part? GE customer service has been completely unhelpful. They clearly know this is a common issue but refuse to offer a replacement or real solution. For something this expensive, you'd expect some accountability. Instead, I’m stuck with an overpriced machine that makes zero ice and a support team that won’t support. Extremely disappointed. Don’t waste your time or money.

Works great nice and chewable ice seems to last longer than ice from the freezer.
