Great Ice Maker

The maintenance and the setup is simple. It pairs really well with my Bartesian drink maker. I find myself drinking more water throughout the day.

The ice is closer to commercial nugget ice than I was expecting. It's a bit larger but very uniform and has a great texture. Ice is made consistently and stays frozen. We love it. All of the people who made fun of me for spending this much on a ice machine are coming around.

My water line for my fridge was across the kitchen so instead of running it through the entire kitchen and making a mess, I decided to get this and it has been great. Friends also call out the "sonic" ice they get to have when they are over. Also doesn't take up a lot of room.

However she finally wore me down. It’s a bit noise, but works great! Only thing I would like to see changed for future versions is a refrigerated bin.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It was cool till it started being annoying and loud asf when making ice. it made loud screeching noises and sometimes would not make ice and would act like it didn’t have no water smh. also using regular sink water would leave the machine minerallyish and so it was a pain to clean. so if i were to rebuy, try and use purified water and maybe it won’t act up. otherwise love the ice. buy the warranty- trust

Replenishes quickly and no issues. Just need to periodically do a cleaning. Awesome product

I accidentally ordered the version 1.0 prior from a different site, where they didn't carry this current version. This one is quieter than the earlier. The cleaning mode is visible on the front instead of a switch on the back, which I also found nice. The recommended weekly cleaning is tedious, but overall worth it. I love this thing!

Ice maker has made GREAT ICE since first use. The only problem with this purchase was with the shipping which was a fiasco. Advise anyone to just stay on top of delivery status.

At other times, it makes a extremely loud flatulent noise that had me yelling at my kid it was so gross. It was just so authentic sounding lol. It does this a lot. The ice itself is great, but this noise is just driving me crazy. Probably returning it within the next few days (when my return option expires).

Posted .Hello- We are sorry to hear you are having this issue with your Opal. We can understand your frustration and apologize for your inconvenience. The Opal Ice Maker is a complex device that combines electrical and mechanical components such as a compressor, pump, motors and fans to deliver perfect nugget ice. These components power on at different times during the ice making cycle. There will be some noise associated with the running of these components. These normal noises typically cease after 10 to 45 minutes within the ice making cycle. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds. A gurgle type sound can be heard when the refrigerant system shuts off, there may be a brief gurgle as the refrigerant stops flowing. When the unit first starts up, the gear motor can make a chugging noise. This noise should be considerably reduced after 15 to 20 minutes, once the Opal starts making ice. Over all we enjoy this unit. It's quieter than I expected even though I wish it was just a little bit quieter. Also I wish that the refill tank was top fill, but other than those things we love this ice maker.

The machine was making very strong squealing noise. I liked when it worked for the few days but did not have a great experience. Returned rather than exchange. Also arrived damaged right out of the box from delivery.

Works as you would expect and have had no issue the only thing is the cleaning but you get used to it.

Its perfect ice for my drinks since its been over 100 degrees for three weeks. Its easy to use and love that i can set a schedule to have ice freshly made when I get home.

Just like Sonic ice and it’s everything and more that you could want in a ice maker. I did buy mine as an open box. It was just like new. The only that I would suggest, is to ask for the paperwork that comes in a new box item. Because I got zero paperwork.

Posted .Hi, and thanks for reviewing – we’re so glad you’re loving your Opal! We do regret that you’re not always able to use the side tank, and we know this must be concerning. If the side tank is installed but water won’t flow from it to the icemaker, there may be an air bubble in the line. You might want to check that the hoses are connected properly and lying flat. You can adjust the tubes by lifting the tank from the icemaker and raising it 4 to 5 inches until water starts to flow, then putting the tank back in position.
