Nugget ice maker

Hopefully it last a long time to make purchase worth it. It is expensive for Ice. Would recommend it, best ice for drinks.

But straight out of the box it made a squeaking noise, which later turned into squeal, then a scream. I sent it back before the warranty ran out and they sent me a new one. Again right out of the box it did the same thing. Then started leaking water. GE couldn’t help because the warranty already ran out on the original one. Finally ended up throwing it away. Maybe I just got a couple of lemons.

Posted .We know an issue with the Opal not producing ice consistently and making excessive noise would be concerning, and we want to help. You may want to make sure the ice chute isn’t blocked, as that could cause an issue with ice production. Following the cleaning instructions starting on page 7 of the manual (which you can view on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page) would help with an issue with blockage. You can also try resetting the unit by unplugging it for four hours before plugging it back in. Regarding sounds, we do expect the Opal to make some noise as it operates, and information on what sounds the unit may make is available on page 13 of the manual. If you aren’t able to resolve the issue with ice production and/or the noise seems unusual, our Opal Support team is available at 1-866-907-6718; they’d be glad to assist further.
Great ice maker

I have a First Build design that was used when I got it. It never quite worked right, and was kind of loud. This 2.0 model is great. Always have a good supply of the pellet ice. Totally satisfied

Written instructions are very easy to follow and we were making ice in 20 minutes after turning it on. The unit is VERY quiet.

So we got this so she could get some fluids down. She Loves it! Ice is ready in 20min whatever you don’t use melts back into the reservoir and is made back into ice. Even the kids are enjoying it

Set up was easy but the best part is the ICE. It constantly makes ice so we never run out and we are a family of 5. I love having spring water pellet ice. Every drinks is awesome now! This is definitely one of the best purchases I have made.

The ice was good and it does last a while compared to traditional ice but the amount of money for the ice maker which doesn't even keep the ice cold cannot do it. Gave it 5 stars cause it works as intended just not for me.

I had to return my 1st one because the extra water tank wouldn't refill. I returned the ice machine and Best Buy gave me a different one without the tank. This one works better but I refill it which can be a pain. I was told they are moving away from the refill tank. Not sure if this is actually accurate info. We do love the ice ... my advice is to purchase the warranty and keep replacing as needed. It's kind of a hassle.

My wife and kids are addicted to crushed ice and use it all the time. Would highly recommend using distilled water, prevents break downs. We have used ours constantly for the last 16 months without a hitch.
