Great ice, not great sound

My problem was the sound it makes while making ice. Much louder than expected, so if it is located in a living area it can get annoying.

The Opal Ice Maker is a complex device that combines electrical and mechanical components such as a compressor, pump, motors and fans to deliver perfect nugget ice. These components power on at different times during the ice making cycle. There will be some noise associated with the running of these components. These normal noises typically cease after 10 to 45 minutes within the ice making cycle. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds. Extended warranty for 2 years or fix the problem

The first one died just before the warranty ran out so they just gave me my money back so i could buy a new one but the second one is 3 weeks out of Warranty and it is broken again. If they would put a cheap replaceable filter in it that would fix the problem but everything nowadays is made to last just outside of the warranty date so know if you buy this unit it only going to last around one year

Posted .Hi there, thanks for reaching out. If your unit's making a squeaking noise, this may be normal at times as this signifies ice building up around the mechanisms of the unit. This ice should be taken care of by the automatic defrost cycle. This cycle is automatic and may take 30-45 minutes. During this time, the ice maker will not respond when you press any buttons, and it will not make ice. If the squeaking does not stop, then you may want to consider cleaning your Opal.
