It’s a great machine. Produces what i am after - ice on demand, auto shutoff if the drawer hasnt opened recently. Once you open and close, it starts making ice again. I thought i would be programming windows for power efficiency sake, but it is convenient enough to let it turn itself on and off. Ice is incomparable, it does hum pretty loudly. I’d buy it again

This is just AWESOME this is my second one. the first one i hade lasted 3yrs towards the end we did have some issues with it. The key to keeping this for a long time is make sure you clean it and always use the GE Filter for the water. It comes out so much better. Make sure you buy the 4yr service warranty this is to expensive not to buy the warranty.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago, and bought the extended warranty, as soon as my 2 yr warranty was up, it started leaking somewhere, eventually shutting off and not working correctly. I just bought a second one, with a 4 year warranty, hopefully, it lasts longer than the first one, because I do really enjoy the nugget ice.

This ice nugget maker is the best! It was easy to put together, and the entire family loves this kind of ice for their drinks!! We went with the excellent used, because the price tag is extremely hefty for an ice maker.

This is my third machine. I absolutely love it when it works but is breaks frequently. It seems that every time I have ever cleaned it it breaks and is unable to be fixed shortly after that.

OMG!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ICE MAKER. It continuously makes ice and the ice is great! Easy to set up and clean. I would recommend this ice maker to anyone looking for "cocktail style ice or ice they could simply chew" as I am an ice-a-holic. I know the machine is a little pricey, but it won't disappoint. If it is in the budget, GET IT!!

This ice maker is the best! We love that it has a large side tank that stays filled for continous ice. The nugget ice is amazing! It's just like Sonic! Set up was fairly easy. We will be doing our first cleaning soon but it doesn't look complicated at all.

Absolutely love this ice machine. It is quite compared to most machines and this ice is perfect. Although it is pricey, I am hoping the life of the machine makes it worth it.

Great buy! Very easy to set up and make ice. Perfect ice started up right away. My appliance is quiet and fast at making ice. I have only used distilled water in mine since I use it for creating craft cocktails and I don't want any chemicals or minerals in my ice. The instructions don't require this, just my personal preference. I would also recommend locating the ice maker near a sink for ease of draining and cleaning. I did my initial cleaning several times on the initial set up with no issues, it went great. I am really happy with appliance!

To start off, my spouse has been wanting this ice maker for as long as I can remember but I was VERY skeptical about it until our previous ice maker have out. When we first moved in to our place, my spouse and i did not have an ice maker and our fridge didn't make ice as fast as we would like. Unfortunately I thought that buying this specific ice maker was too expensive, therefore we went for a smaller one, a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool lasted us over a year u til it gave out, it was wasting the water way faster than intended and not making enough ice. Recently my spouse said she would like to buy the nugget ice maker and i finally gave in and my only regret is not buying it SOONER. PROS: The ice lasts all day!!!! We do not have to be refilling the ice maker very constant. The ice is way more than I anticipated, which I love. It does not melt fast! I am unsure if that's due to the ice or the cup I am using. But I am in love with the ice maker so far. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nugget ice maker.

Very simple to set up. I love how we can just run it when we need ice and we have fresh Sonic style ice in a matter of minutes. Not loving having to go to the store for distilled water, but we have been stocking up to make it easier. The ice is small clear chunks, not cloudy like some other ice machines.

As much as I love the ice this produces, this ice machine is crazy loud. We have now had 3 of these ice makers before permanently returning. The first lasted around 9 months before making such loud noises we returned for a new one. Both the second and the 3rd ice maker started making noises within 1 month. This delivers the best ice I've had, but it would be making ice and screaming in the middle of the night- waking us up :(

The ice is great, but, yeah, this thing is loud. We tend to let it run a while in the afternoons and throw the ice in a gallon bag in the freezer. Don’t throw it all in a big container - the ice is wet/soft, so if you do you will have one large block in the container. A bag is easier to break up and use later. Kinda think it’s too expensive but I’d buy it again. Not driving to sonic all the time? Priceless.

I love nugget ice and this machine makes it so easy! I set the timer through my phone so I can have fresh ice when I get home from work! This is my second Opal ice maker. And what I will buy every time as long as they make it!

Great counter-top ice maker. Can't beat the ice, some slight recommendations for improvement, but overall we use it daily. Optional water filter doesn't seem to work with side water reservoir, but it works fine without the filter (standard configuration). We use filtered water from our fridge for the reservoir, so this isn't a big deal. Slightly loud while operating, but not so much to be distracting. Capacity has no problem keeping up with routine daily use (like filling a water glass every time we walk by), the external reservoir we refill every 1-2 days. We bought this for our camper, but use it every day at home! Can't get enough of the nugget ice! We bought a built-in ice machine for our previous home, and ice machines in general are expensive. That one was around $2000, and one of the less expensive models. This is about $500 for a counter-top model, and it takes up some space, but well worth the price if you like nugget ice. I haven't priced out any similar machines for comparison. Final thoughts - the hopper drips water every time it opens, would be nice to design something that keeps the water inside. A tray which sits in front catches the water. The water fills below the hopper and is pumped through the freezing mechanism which drops nuggets from the top. A drain hose in back hooks to the side tank to keep the water filled inside as it gets used. Melting ice falls back to the bottom and is recycled through the freezing mechanism. The optional filter sits in the bottom of the tank (below the hopper), but seems to restrict flow to the point that make-up water is not drawn from the side tank. Lifting the tank above the hopper level is sufficient to refill the internal water level for another batch of ice until the level runs low. Running the ice maker without the filter is no problem - it is included with a debris screen that is removed when you install the OPAL filter. It appears GE may have discontinued the filter as it is not available from their website, possibly due to this issue, however it is still available from Amazon (P4INKFILTR).

Bought this because the ice maker went out on out fridge. It was easy to set up but weighed more than I thought. It is well built! The first few batches of ice had a plastic taste to them. It has slowly gone away with each use. Follow the directions that explain how to clean it out when you first set it up. The wireless connected flawlessly to a dual band net work. Some have complained about the noise it make (a bit loud until you get used to it), but you can just schedule it to make ice in the middle of the night with the app.

This is my second ice machine. The first brand I chose was terrible. This machine is fantastic. It is easy to set up, easy to fill, and makes the perfect size ice. The only negative is that they ice tends to be hard and not soft chew and it is expensive. I would still purchase this exact machine, you get what you pay for! I love it!
