This product makes amazing ice. It really is great. However, I will say I’ve been through three of them where it just stops making ice. I finally just said no more.

First experienced this wonder at a friends house. They had the original Opal and it was a good product that produced ice fairly quickly. The next week our refrigerator stopped making ice so I decided to purchase the Opal 2.0 since it's black stainless steel matches all of our other appliances. We're now 7 months in and I could not be happier. In our household there are only two adults, but everything that isn't hot tea or coffee requires ice for us. We both drink more water than I think we should and this thing keeps up just fine. I will note that when you first get it, even after cleaning you might want to dump a few extra loads of ice as they tasted a little different. However after that, even with cleaning's the ice has been great...and even though they are smaller in size they last way longer than I expected.

The ice this makes is worth the hype! Be sure to research cleaning the machine. At times, there is an algae that develops, signaling a deep cleaning is due.

Fantastic ice machine. A little squeaky at times and I can not get the Bluetooth working. I added the water-filter and it stopped working. Removed it and it started working again. Overall I like it but it is very expensive. Makes ice quickly and keeps up with my ice needy family.

The best portable nugget ice maker by far. Highly recommended.

I love this ice maker! The quality of the ice itself is amazing! I would rate it a 5 star, but sometimes the ice doesn't make when you refill, and it's kind of a pain cleaning out the tubes (they can get moldy if ice isn't circulating).

Purchased this about 3 weeks ago and so happy we did! Makes great ice and easy on the teeth. Would definitely recommend!

I own a HVAC company, and I understand how ice machines work, so this is great for me, but could be problematic for a normal person. It is loud, but its ok if you have a spacious kitchen. I feel that filling the tank could be a little easier, though I also have found the dispensing nozzle of the tank gets a build up, after only a few fill ups. I use RO water, bought from Krogers. The parts are easy enough to disassemble and clean, so I can't really complain there. Just don't buy this for grandma, I don't think she would like it as much as you would think.

My wife loves crushed ice but our refrigerator only makes cubes. I’ve only had this for a couple of weeks but it works great and makes ice really quickly. This unit comes with the side tank which typically lasts 3 or 4 days before a refill is required.

Easy to use. LOVE the ice it makes. Noise is not that bothersome.

My family loves the ice that comes out of this machine. The ice stays frozen and doesn't melt. So far no issues, and it is very easy to operate and well designed. This machine was so expensive though I got the 4 year extended warranty just in case there is a problem in the future.

As absurd as this next statement may sound I now understand what people mean when they speak about the "good ice". I won't bore you with all the detailed specs as you could read them on this page or on GE's website but as far as ease of use and speed of ice production, I give this an 11 out of 10 it is something I didn't know I needed so badly that now my family cannot live without.... I haven't quite figured out the best way to display it yet as I really didn't want it to be just sitting on my countertop, although it is aesthetically pleasing enough that if you have no other choice, it's not going to detract from your kitchen/bar area especially compared to other similar ice machine units from other manufacturers, this GE opal, especially in the black stainless steel color really knocks it out of the park and is the best looking unit. The only complaint I would have to give even though as far as I understand this is an issue with all home icemakers is the cleaning process. I literally dread this process and where I live in South Jersey we have it pretty easy water wise as I don't have to de-scale it at all, as there is no hard water build up in machine almost 6 months in. One thing I did notice is that even after just a couple days of use after cleaning it if you feel the bottom of the holding tank (i'm not talking about the extra side tank I'm talking about just the main holding tank under the ice tray) it feels a little too slimy for my comfortability, and I even rigged up the machine so that it runs off of my reverse osmosis system that is re-mineralized (as the reverse osmosis process removes even the healthy minerals) so as an added piece of mind, I purchased the extra filter you can get for like $18 on Amazon that goes in the bottom of that holding tank instead of that little stupid good for nothing square screen and since then I've been able to get away with about 3 to 4 weeks before I have to do a complete clean, which involves completely filling the main holding tank and draining it 3 to 4 times while running a cleaning cycle the first of which includes a teaspoon of just regular bleach. The whole process takes about 30 to 40 minutes and it is not really that bad it's just more of an annoyance, but I'll deal with that small annoyance for the availability of great tasting fresh ice whenever I want it. I find myself drinking than usual and I do not regret this purchase one bit. also, I should mention that this is my second unit as the first unit I purchased broke about five months in and replaced it. No problem after I allowed them to put a $400 hold on my credit card to ensure that I sent back my old malfunctioning unit but since then it has been smooth sailing. I had to get my mom this for her birthday after she fell in love with ours. It is a great investment for nugget ice lovers. I still have to admit the price is very steep.

This is the best purchase I have made in a long time! It makes ice quickly. It is super easy to use and clean as well. I couldn't be happier and I am not sure how I have lived without this! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!

I don’t know what we would do without this ice maker. It works great, stays clean, and has all the bells and whistles necessary. Used everyday! Worth the money compared to any other ice maker.

I struggled with choosing a rating because the ice is AMAZING. However the product itself leaves a lot to be desired. For the amount you pay for these, they should last longer. Luckily I paid for the extended warranty because I am now having issues with my FOURTH unit. Best Buy handles it flawlessly, but you really shouldn't have to do so much work to get these to function properly. GE needs to get it together or lower the price on these to make them disposable. Do NOT skip the Best Buy warranty!!!

Now this thing isn’t small, or a necessity, and quite expensive. But for a splurge I’m so glad I bought it. Makes the best ice you’ll ever have. Just like Sonic. A little high maint as it needs cleaned about once a week, we use our reverse osmosis water in it, I wouldn’t use straight tap water as the minerals will really dirty it up.

We use it all the time. It’s a perfect addition to our bar.

if you love to chew ice..love ice in your drinks or smoothies then this is an amazing ice machine..my husband didnt understand the difference in ice especially when he saw the price tag on this..but he uses this as much if not more then me. refills so quick..so easy to use..we LOVE this machine and dont ever use our crushed ice maker in our fridge anymore.
