So far I'm really enjoying this machine. I appreciate the fact that I can use filtered water and not necessarily tap water. It was somewhat of an impulse buy, but everybody is so glad that I did. It does make the drinks a little more enjoyable. This type of ice takes much longer to melt than your typical cubes. I know there were more than an average number of complaints about them lifespan of this machine. For that reason I purchased the extended plan just in case. But so far I haven't had any problems. It takes about 3 16 oz bottles of water to fill up the main reservoir which will create about two and a half buckets of ice. There is a version of the machine without the water tank. If you're a family of three or four, definitely get the water tank version. But if it's just you, the less expensive non side tank version will likely suffice.

This is the one! If you want “good ice” like from sonic, this is the maker. Attractive for countertops, makes enough ice for 2 easily. I had read reviews that it was loud, it’s not that loud. Fill the tank and let it go! Saves me trips to sonic for bags and wife is overjoyed!

We are addicted to this ice maker. My son teased me at first until he tried the ice. Now we fight over it. We use this constantly since we purchased. The only thing that scares me is it sounds really loud as if it’s going to die. Please do t ever die on us.

The GE profile ice maker is quiet, quick and very efficient. It makes small cubes which is great for drinks or even for cold water when you add a lime. Very nice flavor. It does not take up much room and delivers good volume for the size. We like it!

This is my favorite kitchen appliance next to my coffee maker! Love the size of ice and how fast it makes. It has WiFi so I can control when I want to turn it on/off even has a schedule you can put it on! Great feature is that it will recycle the water that melts from ice to make more!

We love this and use it daily! It'll make an odd noise when it needs a cleaning.

We purchased this for our home because we love the little nugget ice like sonic has. Absolutely love this ice machine. We have 5 people in our family and it keeps up the ice for all of us.

I have always wanted a nugget ice maker. This year I splurged and got one. I do not regret my decision. It is so great to have this type of ice readily available any time. After trying the ice, 3 of my friends/family members have purchased their own machines. The machine is easy to use and maintain.

Makes ice quickly, a little noisy, does not always draw water from the side tank. The ice bin is a little flimsy but it serves its purpose. Definitely nice to have the extra ice when entertaining. Decent for production for the price.

This is our second opal, but the first 2.0. We loved our first one and tried a different brand when our first wore out. We thought we would try an opal again, however, I miss being able to hook it up directly to the 1/4" line I had plumbed in. It works well for making ice but requires pretty frequent filling.

I love my water to be SUPER cold so I’m always getting ice by the bags. I was done with buying bags and told my husband that we’re probably spending about the same amount with all the bags we’ve bought! I had a little ice maker but it couldn’t keep up with my ice intake :) So we went to Best Buy to look for one. As soon as I walked in, I saw this beauty and said yep, she’s coming home with me!! I’ve had her for over a year now and she’s paid for herself numerous times. IF YOU LOVE ICE AS MUCH AS I DO, GET THIS ICE MAKER! This was best investment that I ever purchased! The WiFi and the app to let you know when to clean it, or to add more water is so convenient. Y'all get one, especially if you love that Sonic ice!

Makes a lot of noise and water drips out of the catchment tank when opening it to get ice. But it makes ice very fast and makes a lot.

Got this for a Christmas gift for my wife. Some of the reviews say it is a little noisy, but it has a compressor so its gonna make a little noise. Its not as bad as people say. The ice is fantastic and my Wife says it is probably the best gift I have ever gotten her.

Been using this ice maker for almost 2 months and it's better than expected. I makes great, chewable nugget ice in minutes. It does make a little noise but after a little time it's not even noticeable. Definitely worth the money.

We purchased the GE Profile 2.0 a little less than a year ago. It has worked well for most of the past year and it suddenly started making a squealing noise. We have always used filtered water in the machine. Now it has basically quit making ice. I contacted GE customer support and they have said they are sending a refurbished unit. That unit will have a 90 day warranty. When the Opal works it’s great but spending $579 on a product that only lasts less then a year is disappointing. That is 194 bags of Sonic ice. If you buy this product get a extended warranty.

This thing ROCKS! Best icemaker we have had so far. The side tank is a necessity, increases your output so much. Only complaints is that this style of ice melts more quickly.

Bought this for my wife as a Christmas gift she loves it easy to set and clean. Im not a ice eater but I often find myself eating her ice lol. Best purchase by far make that good sonic nugget ice

Take the sound away, and this is a five star product. To be clear, this doesn't happen all the time. It's usually fairly quiet, and when it's actively making it ice it sounds a little like those old electric ice cream makers - maybe a little quieter. But every now and again, and I can't seem to find a consistent reason why, it starts with a whine and turns into a very loud grinding sound. I have video which is similar to others you'll find in other reviews. This goes on 10-15 minutes, and then it's back to normal. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty just in case. But, we do indeed love the ice.

This is the best ice machine ever. Makes ice in a timely manner. Easy to use and easy to clean.
